Latino Review got its hands on the shortlist of directors circling the G.I. JOE sequel. The website reports that Jaume Collet-Serra (HOUSE OF WAX), F. Gary Gray (THE ITALIAN JOB), and Jon Chu (STEP UP: 3D) are the names on the list vying to direct from a script by ZOMBIELAND'S Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

I don't care who they get to direct it if they don't tighten up the damn script. Better story = better movie. Oh, and Snake Eyes doesn't have lips on his mask.

Dwayne Johnson's action-savvy involvement helped drive Fast Five to becoming the top earner in its franchise this summer. Paramount Pictures and Marvel are likely hoping he could do the same for their upcoming sequel, G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes.

Both Variety and the online trade, Deadline New York, reports that Johnson is circling the role of "Roadblock" for the fast-tracking sequel. Fleming at Deadline also suggest that Channing Tatum is returning to the role of "Duke" though we heard that same piece of news earlier this year when Step Up director Jon M. Chu was defending his hiring as the helmer for the sequel. As you'll see in the link, the incoming director also responded to Rachel Nichols' tweets that only Duke, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow were returning for the sequel.

The studio would not comment on Johnson's potential casting at the current time.

G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes is set to be released August 10, 2012.

After nearly a month of hearing reports that Bruce Willis could play the first Joe, General Joe Colton, in Paramount Pictures' fast-tracking G.I. Joe sequel, it seems to be a done deal this weekend. It began with the Hollywood Reporter confirming the veteran action star officially entered negotiations to join Jon Chu's production and ended with a tweet from Dwayne Johnson welcoming him to the cast.

"Welcome brother Bruce Willis to the cast of GI Joe! What an honor." said Dwayne to his fans. That would be Johnson's second "Joe" tweet of the week behind the first look image of his Roadblock character.

GI Rock

As it currently stands the casting for G.I. Joe 2 has Channing Tatum (Duke), Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), Byung Hun-lee (Stormshadow), Elodie Yung (Jinx), Adrianne Palicki (Lady Jaye), Ray Stevenson (Firefly), RZA (Blind Master), DJ Cotrona (Flint), Joseph Mazzello (Mouse), Walton Goggins (Warden Nigel James) and Bruce Willis (General Joe Colton). Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick penned the screenplay.

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
If I'm not mistaken, it's now called as "G.I. Joe: Retaliation".

And Jon Chu is the director of the film.

That trailer actually looks good. It has to be better than the first movie. Snake-Eyes mask doesn't have lips and there doesn't appear to be a Wayans in sight!

STAY HYPED!!!
This movie is suppose to be released on June 29? I thought they pushed the release back to next year, saying they were going to put it in 3D as the reason why?

That's what I thought. With those 2 movies and The Avengers already dominating the box office, then I think they knew they had no chance this summer.
