It is being reported that WWE Superstars has been canceled. Though not officially confirmed, reportedly WGN America will air the last episode of Superstars on April 7.

We'll have more on this story as it develops.

I haven't either. Actually, did anyone here ever watch Superstars? I don't remember reading any thread discussions for the show.

WWE always has one of these types of shows. They had Velocity, Heat, Shotgun Saturday Night, and whatever other names. So I wouldn't be surprised to see this show brought back under a different name by the end of the year. Still, you have to wonder how many Superstar wrestlers will be released after WrestleMania.

Nothing ever happened on the show. It was Heat without Raven. I saw a few episodes, but nothing on the show ever mattered in the WWE.

The only time I ever watched it was when they did tapings for the show during television shows I went to. And even then, come Thursday, I would still forget to watch it.

I only watched it here and there. While it won't be a huge lost for WWE, the mid-carders who appeared regularly on there might be weary of what's next for them.

First, let me say that Heat was awesome. Nothing beats an announce team of Al Snow and The Coach.

Second, DL made a great point. Those shows are always about giving the mid-carders something to do, so a lack of that type of show definitely hurts a lot of people. Even if not many watched the show, it was still a part of WWE and a reason to have certain guys on there, those who can be the "main eventers" of Superstars. I forgot who it was, but there was always some guy on either Heat or Velocity who was always considered "the man" of the show. Forgot who it was though.

And also, I think this idea would have worked out a lot better if the shows were still a lot more different from each other. I think the whole idea in the beginning was to feature stuff from both shows in order to create a "wow, you get to see both John Cena and Undertaker (who were at the top of each show at the time) on the same show!" type of thing, but it doesn't work when you already get that on each show.

It gives them something to do on TV. They had plenty to do at House Shows.

But you're pretty much useless at a house show unless you get some type of exposure on TV. This gives those guys less of a chance of that.

I also liked Heat, mostly because stuff actually happened on it that mattered only an hour before the PPV back when it aired. Plus it did a good job of getting the lower card guys some air time.

With that said, I only knew about Superstars because of the SvR games. I don't think I even have the channel that it's supposed to be on.

I tried to catch Superstars most weeks. You'd be surprised the gems it throws out every once in a while.

In talking to a few people close to the situation Supertars on WGN has been canceled, in essence, because WGN was paying B or C show money for D show delivery. WGN brought the show on board hoping it would bring ratings to their national feed, which does not have great clearance across the country's cable systems.

The hope at the time was that bringing in a proven ratings draw in WWE would elevate the network's appeal and possibly get it picked up by cable companies that weren't carrying it. Unfortunately for them, the show that they got was not Raw. WWE initially loaded up the show but it was clear from the outset that in the viewers' eye, it was the company's number three broadcast and at that point the die was cast.

The show quickly became undercard mania and the ratings it got were representative of what the show had become.

Obviously, there are some talents in WWE that are very concerned what the loss of the show will mean to their status within the company.

As of this writing no decision has been made on the future of WWE Superstars. While option number one is to continue the show on the official WWE website, there is currently an internal debate as to whether or not it would harm the perception of the WWE network for two of its higher profile programs to have previously been available as Internet exclusive content (WWE Superstars and WWE NXT). Some in the company feel it would be a better move to simply wait until the WWE network launches to bring WWE Superstars back to the American market rather than allow it to mirror the fate of NXT.

Speaking of the WWE network.

Despite recent setbacks, I'm told plans for the WWE cable network are back "full speed ahead" but things are taking longer than expected.

The WWE Superstars online show has been cancelled, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com. The show will continue to air overseas, but it will no longer be shown on the WWE website or uploaded to Youtube.

I forgot this was even an online show.

We got it over here in Australia (i think we still might). I caught a match last week (can't even remember who was in it), but it's funny when the halves of each superstars faces are lining up to "randomly" fight each other and most of them are top superstars and Edge is still on it.

Yeah, the report says it'll still air on international stations. I believe WWE has a contract with those companies, so they have to produce the show. But the U.S. audience will no longer see the show .
