Since the Wii topic has been gaining momentum, I figured a thread wouldn't hurt. Mega Man X was just released for the classic games, going to download that when I get a chance. |

I just want to play Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong, Jr. What's the easiest way to get that accomplished? |

1. Buy a Wii. 2. Buy a Wii Points Card. 3. Buy a Wii Classic Controller (or use a GameCube controller if you have one). 3. If you have a wireless router, then great. If not, then see Cybrus. 4. Hook up Wii; go through setup process. (Naming, internet connection, etc) 5. Go to Wii Shop Channel. 6. Go to Virtual Console, search by Title, "Donkey" will suffice. 7. Go through the steps of paying (with the Points Card) and downloading. 8. Enjoy. |

![]() I'm fairly sure you can buy Wii points online with a credit card so you don't need one of those nintendo points cards from a shop. As soon as I get some spare cash I'm buying Castlevania, I used to love that game. Does anyone know if it would be cheaper to buy the classic controller or a gamecube controller? |

True, but I know some people are weary about using a credit card online. |

Those cards are much easier to deal with also. You basically type in a code correct? Like an ITunes card? |

Yeah, you just enter the card number and the points are credited to your Wii account. I too prefer buying the card. Actually, I think it's a bit cheaper to buy points on a card. From the demos I've seen, 2000 points will cost you $20 if you buy them on the Wii. I bought a 2000 point card for like $18. Not much of a difference, but it's still cheaper. I think if you really like these games and think it's worth the money, then go for it. But you should consider everything before you decide (which I did not). Not only do you have to buy a Wii, but you have to buy Wii points (simple enough, so far). If you have a wireless connection, you are good to go. If you don't have a wireless connection, then you are going to have to buy a Wii LAN Adapter which is going to run you in the neighborhood of $30. Then you have to buy a wire to connect from your computer modem to the LAN adapter. Depending on how much line you need, this is going to run you another $7 to $10. If you think the games are worth the money and if you buy everything together, then it's really simple to do. But when you buy one thing, realize you have to buy something else, then realize you need to buy even more stuff, then it's aggravating. |

I also have spare cables. Only thing I'd need is the system and the Wii LAN Adapter I guess. Does it not have a port for a Ethernet cable built in? That's how the PS3 is.

Do you have to buy the Wii adapter or can you just get a USB 2.0 LAN Adatper ? I know they are like $10. |

I would imagine that as long as it has Nintendo's approval then it should work. My SD card wasn't made by Nintendo but it did have the approval. |

Um, no. I clearly said they cost between $7 and $10 depending on how much you need. The frustration isn't that I need to buy something else. It's that every time I go to play, I need to buy more.
As long as it has a USB end to go into your Wii and an end that connects to your modem, then I'd guess any adapter could work. I think Nintendo says that only adapters approved to work with Wii are compatible, but they may just say that to drive sales of their desired product. |

I found a couple of sites that lets me play Donkey Kong and DK Jr online, but I hate using the keyboard. Still debating on the Wii. |

Big question: Is there any games either on the Virtual Console or the Wii system that you'd be interested in playing other than the Donkey Kong games? Because if those are the only games you are wanting, then you're going to end up paying several hundreds of dollars for them. You can go get a Wii cheaper second hand and all, but still. |

There are probably 6-8 games I'd like to play. I'm trying to decide if that is worth it. |

I don't think you can play DVDs on the Wii. I tried playing one I've burned online and it didn't recognize it. I don't know if you have to have legitimate DVDs or if it plays Blue-Ray or neither. But that is something else to keep in mind. I know you use your PS3 as a blue ray player, but you'd have to unhook your Wii and rehook your PS3 to play them. Not sure if that factors into your decision, but it's something to know. |

The Wii doesn't play DVDs. And I could have them both hooked up at the same time. The PS3 uses HDMI hookup to the TV. The Will would connect to a different input. |

So then it'd be possible for me to have both my XBox 360 and Wii hooked up simultaneously?

Depends on how many connections your TV set has. The 360 doesn't use HDMI hookups I don't believe. So, the Wii and 360 may need the same ports. |

Purple Marauder, you have no desire of playing any of the Wii games? If not then you might want to try out roms before spending all that money. |

I'm just not sure what Wii games there are that are exclusive Wii games. If a new game comes out on multi-platforms, I'm getting it on PS3. I may play the new Zelda or something, but not sure what else they have exclusively really. |

SNES - Snes9x N64 - Project64 The only thing you really need to buy is a PC analog controller. |
