The Man. Any Questions?
You likely need to have a controller plugged in - in the proper port - for the system to even let you into the disc. If the Wii has error-protection and shit like that, with lockouts. I don't know for sure, because I'll never waste my money on one.

I did the same thing with my disc, no controller plugged in, I was able to get to the intro of the game.

Also, it's a Gamecube game, so they wouldn't get the fancy videos when you first insert the game like the Wii games get.

Well that sucks.

Don't know why they don't just offer GC games for download. The biggest one is only 3 GB. If the Wiis are anything like the PS3s, packing some 180 GB of disc space, it wouldn't be a problem.

In fact, the same could be said for PS3, as well. Why in FUCK did all the companies just basically step on their dicks when it comes to backward compatibility?!

Is the disc scratched badly?

Nintendo was dumb when it came to allocating space for the Wii. It doesn't even have a hard drive, but rather a 512mb flash drive. At best you would have to buy those SD cards, the biggest the Wii reads is 32gb.

No, not really. If I look hard enough, I might see one or two scratches, but nothing bad.

Then maybe my test was the exception. I would still say wait until you get the controller to be 100 percent sure.

The guy that was going to buy it on EBay has a daughter that plays Wii games and Gamecube games. I'm going to ask him if he'll take the game home and see if it loads on his. If it does, I'll buy a controller. If it doesn't, it's going right back to gamestop.

If I do have to take it back, I wonder if I could just take it back to my local store. I bought it online.

So I took the game with me to work on Tuesday night and let my friend borrow it. He is suppose to bring it back tonight and let me know if it worked on his system. I have my doubts.

However, I'm apparently getting a free replacement. Since I bought the game online, I went back to gamestop.com and went to the contact page. I sent them an E-Mail about the bad product with the simple question being if I could return it to the store or if I had to return it via mail. When I read my reply, it was them telling me that they had shipped me a replacement game at no additional cost to me.

The replacement disc came in the mail on Sunday. I put it in my Wii and got the exact same error message that I got from the first defective disc. I was heading out to buy a new computer, so I took the games back to GameStop. They refunded the money for both discs. I sent another complaint through the email about getting a second disc that didn't work. I'm not sure if anything will happen there, but I'm not going to try to buy another copy of the game. That's twice that I had a Wind Waker and neither worked. Maybe they'll release some kind of collector's disc in the future or something that'll have Wind Waker on it.

That's terrible bad luck to get two that don't work  Havn't they started putting Gamecube games on the virtual console yet?

No, and I don't expect they will. Gamecube games are compatible with the Wii. You just put them in and they play just fine (although, I've never had one that worked). The Virtual Console provides games that you cannot play on the Wii itself.

Although, they really should. I'm sure they'd make a lot of money selling GameCube games and even Wii games on the Virtual Console. They could keep the games the same price, but just let people download them instead of buy a physical copy.

Then it's probably not the disc. Your Wii is either fucked up, or you NEED to have a GC controller plugged in.

Go get a controller. You'll need it to play any GC games anyway, so stop procrastinating. Do it. Then see if the discs work.

No, it cannot be that because I let a friend of mine try the discs and he got the exact same error message. And he tried the discs both in his Wii and his Gamecube. The discs themselves were bad.

Zelda fans, the new Zelda game "Skyward Sword" is scheduled to release on November 20 in the US and November 18 in Europe. If you consider that Twilight Princess was made for the GameCube and just ported over to the Wii and if you consider that the Wii is a dying system with a replacement already announced, this will be the only true Zelda game on Wii. From what I've been reading, this game is going to take full advantage of the Wii motion sensory. They did that a little on Twilight Princess, but this one is suppose to be a complete experience. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. Seeing as how they usually go several years between console game releases, we may not see another Zelda game until 2014.

You should look at the Zelda tech demo Nintendo did for the next console. If they stick to that style and not swerve us, the wait should be worth it.

You mean the one where they showed the boss battle from Temple of Time (Twilight Princess)? I've seen that. It looked great. Very high definition. I think I posted a link before, but if you check out Zelda Dungeon they post a lot of Zelda stuff each week. They currently have a few videos for Skyward Sword up, but it's the same videos from the summer E3.

No. It went from the Gamecube tech demo to the Wind Waker. I would expect another swerve.

Zelda Release Bundle

Awesome looking bundle and I really like the gold look. I don't really need another Wii Remote, so I'll probably get the cheaper version of just the game/CD. If I'm reading right, you still get the CD with the game as long as you buy during the first printing of the game. So it's a limited time release.

WTF!? A couple of stores I shop from around here are saying that they have discontinued the sale of Nintendo point cards. I've managed to get one that was around, so I have 1000 points to spend, but I've only not long started building up a collection for the Wii and there are still so many old games I want to purchase on the Virtual Console.

Is this happening everywhere? I haven't be able to find anything online about it yet. :-/

Yeah, I still can't find anything about it being a universal thing. So must just be a decision on the part of the chain of stores. I think there's still a couple of places to check. Hopefully they might still sell them. I still don't understand it though. Nintendo are hardly unpopular, especially as far as video gaming is concerned. :-/

Thank you EB.

After a little bit of phoning around it turns out that they have 1000 point cards for $15 and 2000 points for $30. Before we were only able to 1000 point cards for about $18/19, but they discontinued them and are bringing out a new set of cards or something. Other stores didn't inform me of that or maybe they weren't informed themselves, I don't know. I feel a little better now though.

but they discontinued them and are bringing out a new set of cards or something.
That was the first thing that popped into my head as I was reading the first post. It would make any sense to discontinue the product completely since they have so many games for online purchase and are constantly adding more. I figured they'd just be doing away with the current version and introducing a replacement once the old ones were phased out. It's something we do at work often.

Do you have a Walmart in your area? Or does Walmart.com deliver to you? I know you can get Wii point cards online. I'm not sure how cheap it would be for you if you'd have to pay extra for more shipping or whatever. Not that it's needed now, since you have access to a store that has them.

Also, can't you just buy Wii points from your Wii? Even if you didn't find a Wii Points card, you should still have been able to buy points.

That requires putting credit card details online, doesn't it? So no, not really an option.

And as far as I know, I don't think we have Walmart in Australia. I've never seen one anywhere. We could have an Australian equivalent under a different name, but I have no idea which one that could be, if any.

Well, you have to put a card number online, yes. If you are paranoid, I'm sure you could go buy a prepaid card and just put that number online.

Zelda fans: Three new teaser videos about the new Skyward Sword have been posted. I am really getting excited about this game. The graphics are more toonish than Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, or even Majora's Mask, but they look absolutely beautiful. Much better than the graphics on Wind Waker, which was just too toony for my liking. The motion control is going to be something i'll have to grow to love, but this game looks like it could become one of the best and most loved Zelda titles of all time.

You can view the videos HERE
