-- WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts announced during a commercial break at tonight's Raw taping at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas that a pay-per-view event, WWE Uprising, would be taking place at the venue on October 23.

The event was originally titled Bragging Rights.

Never did care for Bragging Rights. Hopefully they change the theme as well.

Bragging Rights was a terrible PPV concept, so I'm glad it's gone. No one cared about the Raw vs SD! thing. I don't have anything to say to say about Uprising. It doesn't sound like a great PPV name, but as long as they don't throw on some silly PPV gimmick then I don't think it'd be anything bad.

Eh. I think Bragging Rights blew Hell in a Cell, Breaking Point etc. out of the water in terms of a concept. Not that BR was anything special, but at least it was logical and wasn't completely booking backwards. Honestly, having a PPV named Hell in a Cell is like telling you whats going to happen at the end of the book when you turn the first page. Whatever big feud is going on at the time you can just look at the PPV schedule and the answer to your blow off is right in-front of you. Stupid, IMO.

RAW vs. SmackDown is something I could get behind to an extent. I feel like it suffered a lot from there being so many Pay Per Views, though, and it kind of seemed like a PPV that would have been better off earlier in the year. With that said, it let undercard guys shine, provided some fun matches (multi-tags are pretty easy to work) and left some room for Survivor Series feuds.

Can't say I'll really miss it, but theirs plenty of PPV's I would have got rid of before Bragging Rights.

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
I had a problem with Bragging Rights. The concept of that PPV and those SD vs Raw matches could easily been part of Survivor Series.

Anyways, Uprising... first thing in my mind was the Uprising song made by Muse.

I personally prefer Uprising to bragging rights. The concept was floored and was too "Survivor Series" IMO. Either way it is better that it was scapped. I for one would love to see a "War Games" themed PPV. Yeah some will not agree, but it would be kinda epic to see.

I don't like it, personally if a PPV is called "Uprising" I expect there to be some form of an uprising from a group or something, would have worked well when the nexus were just coming up but now it seems unnecessary. My point is with names like this I expect it to relate to a specific storyline or theme e.g. "Invasion" when WWF was invaded by WCW/ECW or "Backlash" being the backlash from Wrestlemania.

Bragging Rights while not the best or original storyline (see Survivor Series comparisons) still made sense and I liked the idea that the two brands would basically compete for "bragging rights". That being said considering the brand extension really doesn't matter anymore I guess it's good they did away with it. I just wish they could come up with a better name or use a name from a past PPV ("Fully Loaded" being my preference but any of the older names such as "Vengeance" or "No Mercy" would be better than this.

I agree with SO. I was going to post the same thing. That i think it's only named that to go with the storyline they have written for it. Maybe it has to do with Punk and the new Nexus or maybe Mason Ryan and big Zeke teaming up and uprising out of their respective groups.
So i can see it being a one off, next year they will change the name again to coincide with the current storyline then.

As mentioned, I too liked the concept of Bragging Rights, but it was too similar to Survivor Series. Uprising sounds very efedish. And I agree with SpaceO, would have been great with the original Nexus.

And just like that, the Uprising name is gone :magic:

ProWrestling.net

WWE has already dropped the name of Uprising for the October 23 pay-per-view. It was originally billed as Bragging Rights, but WWE changed the name to Uprising. However, the new listing on the AT&T Center website now lists the event as WWE Vengeance.

While they're at it, they should drop "Extreme Rules" and go with something like Backlash.
