WWE is teasing that C.M. Punk will perform the most honest act in company history during tonight's Raw. The company linked to the following message from Punk on his Facebook page:

"Last night at Capitol Punishment, I not only defeated Rey Mysterio, I also vowed to perform the most honest act in WWE history. Join me on tonight's Power to the People episode of Monday Night Raw, and witness the genesis of something monumental."

A win over Rey last night, something big hyped before Raw. Has Punk resigned with the company? Does WWE have faith that he will? Are they just giving him a good build now so his last loss will mean something?

I think they have set it up for either situation. If he resigns, they can make his next feud a big deal and if he doesn't, his leaving can be a big deal...like Jericho's always was when he left.

I wonder if WWE trusts Punk like they trust Jericho. Jericho will tell WWE he's taking a break, tell them that he's going to work on Fozzy, Dancing with the Stars, whatever other side project, and that he's NOT going to go to TNA or any other company, and WWE trust that Jericho will honor that. I wonder if Punk says he is going to take some time off, not go to TNA, and return a few months later if WWE trusts him to do that. If they do trust him, then there is nothing wrong with letting him leave as a strong character so they can just bring him back as the same strong character a few months later. You know?

If they really trusted anyone, there wouldn't be a no compete clause in their contracts. I don't think Vince trusts anyone. And, if the situation were right, I could see Jericho jumping to TNA. Of course, there would have to be a lot of changes for that to happen, but the point is a handshake deal doesn't mean a lot in wrestling.

I think that's the most important sentence of this entire conversation, actually.

From what I hear, Punk doesn't like TNA, so that would really only leave ROH as the only alternative if he were going to jump ship.

What is the deal with ROH right now? Are they looking for new talent? Are they requiring talent to sign exclusive contracts? Are they still pretty open door? I'm not sure if anything is changing with their recent company changes.

I'm not sure of their policies anymore, but I'm sure they are always looking for new talent to come in.

If you've followed Jericho on Twitter, you would know that he wouldn't jump to TNA at all.

The Punk thing... he'll probably start a storyline where if he loses, he's out of the 'E or something else. It could be something big or a letdown.

First of all, I don't follow anyone on Twitter. And secondly, you conveniently left out the next part of what I said:

If new management and company philosophy came in and TNA proved themselves to be a good company with a great direction, he would easily sign. My simple point was one never knows what the future holds so having a gentlemen's agreement not to sign with another wrestling company means nothing in the long run.

My Raw Review:
Tonight was unintentionally hilarious due to the obvious fixed results and the awesome crowd. One thing I really did like were the promos hyping up both Evan Bourne and R-Truth. I'm not sure if this is Triple H's doing, but whoever is responsible for these video packages as of late deserves a pat on the back because they do a great job of hyping up the competitor

Of course, it would've been nice for Bourne to actually win his match after that Video Package hyped him up. And Mason Ryan winning the vote over Sin Cara was a fix if I ever saw one. Either that or the "WWE Universe" decided to troll everyone. And as I pointed out, I lol'd at the Batista chant from the crowd. I'm guessing when all is said and done, Mason Ryan is going to end up getting the "Monster Heel" push later this year after Cena is done feuding with Punk and Del Rio.

Kelly Kelly winning the Diva's Championship? :wgaf:
Spoiler: click to toggle

The Diva Division stopped being relevant for me the second they cut Natalya off at the knees even though she was crazy over.

Kane/Mark Henry Arm Wrestling Match? :wgaf:
Mark Henry is getting another main event push it seems. I'll touch more on that later.

The R-Truth/Christian/Miz segment was freakin hilarious. Although he won't be getting another title shot any time soon, Truth still has a lot of his heat and is able to get the crowd worked up which is always fun to see. Can't wait for Morrison to return to see those two feud with each other. Christian and especially The Miz both face reactions from the crowd. It became really awkward since they both were trying really hard to get the crowd to turn against them.

Another match in the "Best out of 100 Series" between Dolph and Kofi. That said it was a really good match with a screwy finish. I mean seriously, it was a best 2 out of 3 falls match. Should a DQ really matter? :???:

Punk vs Mysterio vs Del Rio was the match of the night easily. Pretty Ballsy for Punk to announce right after the match that he was going to leave the company after the next PPV. Either Punk will resign and possibly become champ or he's going to get the "Jericho Exit" as earlier predicted in this thread.

Daniel Bryan vs Cody Rhodes was meh. But seriously, "No Count Out Match?" Creative was really running out of ideas for specialty matches.

Michael Cole vs Vickie Guerrero dance contest. It was actually pretty funny TBH. I like Douche!Cole in small doses so for stuff like this I don't mind. I have to ask though, they said the crowd booed the loudest for Cole, but I could've sworn he got a pop after he finished dancing.

Main Event was serviceable with a predictable ending.

Overall I'd say it was a okay Raw. The R-Truth/Miz/Christian and the triple threat match were the highlights.

With Punk possibly leaving, I'm realizing just how dire WWE's main event scene is at this point. Tonight showed that Miz and Christian are still getting face reactions from the crowd even though they're trying to heel it up, so I can't see either being the "top heel" of their respective brands. Del Rio, while great in the ring, simply doesn't get any reactions from the crowd.

But yeah, it looks like Mark Henry is going to get his Bi-Yearly Main Event Push. They've never put the title on him before but at this point it looks like the WWE will have no choice unless they get serious about pushing Sheamus and Wade Barrett again.

The least creative had to be for the 6 man main event match. Seriously. Your options where "One fall to a finish", which is a normal match...all matches have one fall to a finish. Your second option was a "20 minute time limit" match. Who the fuck cares about time in a wrestling match? Only the internet fans and only when they need a reason to complain about their favorite not getting enough air time. And your third choice, which was clearly the only choice, was the "Elimination Match" choice.

Christian has the ugliest shirt in wrestling today. I keep forgetting to mention that in the SD! threads, but that things is just hideous. His promo with R-Truth and Miz was funny, though. I'm not sure why they turned their three biggest heels from the last PPV into a comedy act, but it was a fun segment.

CM Punk was also very good this week. I'm not sure what to make of Punk announcing he'll leave as WWE Champion. Does this mean he really isn't leaving after all? Or is WWE playing the internet marks by telling everyone he's leaving anyway?

I had an odd mental moment as Cena and Orton posed for the end of Raw. They are being pushed as this generation's Mega Powers. Cena is this generation's Hogan and Punk is this generation's Randy Savage. Orton is clearly the better performer, but he's always going to be the number 2 guy. And if it weren't for the fact that they have 2 "top" titles, Orton wouldn't have nearly as many reigns as he does.

WWE posted another update on the voting errors that were made during Monday's "Power to the People" edition of Raw. They noted that Sin Cara actually earned 90 percent of the vote and should have faced Evan Bourne, but the error resulted in Mason Ryan facing Bourne instead.

The story also notes that voters wanted Vickie Guerrero banned from ringside when Dolph Ziggler defended the U.S. Title against Kofi Kingston. Due to the error, the company went with a best of three falls match. To read the story, visit WWE.com.

"You're winner by 50-something percent: Mason Ryan! Oh wait, we had an error. Sorry guys. Sin Cara really had 90 percent of the votes. Oops".

I read elsewhere that CM Punks tweets are exactly the same as to what he wrote when he was leaving ROH for WWE and was going to take the title with him. Same storyline but now he can use it on tv?

Difference here is that Punk did that storyline while he was the World Champion in ROH. In WWE, his contract is set to expire after MITB ends.

Same basic thing though. Punk won the RoH title and said he was going to WWE when his contract ran out with the belt. Now, he says he is winning the WWE title and leaving with it.

The Man. Any Questions?
If they use this as an excuse to march Vince down at the PPV and have the ref ring the bell on Punk in yet ANOTHER "Montreal Screwjob" rehash, I'll never watch WWE again until Vince dies.

This match is happening at the MITB PPV. If Punk does leave after this PPV (there's a chance that he resigns and this is a storyline), then I think it'd be more likely that the Raw MITB winner cashes in at the PPV and walks out as WWE Champion. Why have a "Montreal Screw Job" angle when you have a padded excuse that'll give you the same result?

That's what I expect to happen. Punk wins the title then the MITB winner cashes in and "saves" the title from leaving.

When Punk left ROH as Champion, didn't he stay with the company for a few month afterward to defend the title? It'd be cool if they ran a short term storyline with Punk like that. Maybe he'll sign a short term extension or something so that they can run a storyline where Punk basically holds the WWE Title hostage. Have him show up on Raw and say he's not contractually obligated to defend the Title. It'd be something different, something new.
