No, no. It's legit. Read WWE.com. They suspended him and everything. :tu:

You're right! They would never have allowed him to say all of that if it was something he planned. I mean, he mentions New Japan and RoH! Plus he said "hi" to Colt Cabanna. You are never suppose to do that kind of stuff!! I can't believe he thought he would get away with it and the WWE would just let it slide. He may even get fired and not even get his title shot!!

I think the give away that this was unplanned is when he started on Steph and Triple H. He didn't mention them by name, but he said "Vince's idiotic daughter and is doofus son-in-law". Obviously, that was the line because his mic got cut right off.

I know. That was like the straw that broke the camels back. I seriously think Punk may be done forever in the WWE!

How much you want to bet Hulk Hogan started leaving Punk text messages DURING the promo! Hogan is a smart businessman. He knows Punk just burned a bridge. Hell, he's burned enough to spot one. So he's courting Punk. Just you wait. Punk is going to win the WWE Title on Sunday and take it to TNA and throw it in the garbage can!

That would be shocking!! It would also be somewhat sad. I can't imagine the WWE title being so disrespected.

But it would fit into exactly what Punk is saying. Punk was clearly talking to the internet fans, the smart fans. And the smart fans KNOW that the WWE Title is garbage and has been since the Cena era began. Punk throwing it in the garbage just proves to the marks what the real fans have known for over 7 years now!

I'm just not sure if Punk would go from working for Vince to working under the Hogan Bischoff regime. Especially after what Punk said about Hogan. You know Hogan is mad and would just love to get Punk in to screw him over. But, Punk seems too smart for that. That's probably why he only said he might take it to RoH!

Hmm, maybe that's why he didn't say anything about defending the WWE Title in TNA, because he did bury Hogan didn't he? I forgot about that.

You guys are nuts.

If Punk leaves after the PPV, I wonder if he'll just be another guy who crybabies in his new "home" about how Vince is evil, WWE sucks, blahblahblah. Like the Dudleys, Angle, etc., etc.

Shane Douglas needs to start suing all these guys for stealing his schtick. He pretty much invented the "shoot of rage against everyone" routine.

I don't think Punk is going to do that. He's too smart to burn bridges with WWE when he knows that's currently the best. I think this is more of a "you don't know what you've got until it's gone" test. Punk has been a workhorse for WWE for 6 years. They rely on him even if they don't always push him like a top star. So I think Punk is taking time off to show WWE how valuable he is to them. I suspect he'll be back by the Rumble.

If the WWE was really that pissed at him, they wouldn't let him win the title in his last match. It's that simple. If he wins the belt, it's obvious that this whole thing is a work. If not, then maybe it's not a work.

I still think it is, though, it just makes sense for it to be one. Cena was still selling through the whole promo, King delivered a line to set up the damn thing, they didn't cut him off until he delivered a line about "Telling a story about Vince."

And keep in mind, this is the WWE, their production quality is intense as hell. They have many many men working in the trucks watching the program, and editing it in real time. Punk was saying a number of taboo things several minutes before he got cut off teh mic. There's footage of him coming back out and singing Sinatra's "Chicago" to the fans immediately after that promo was cut.

It just makes sense for it to be a work. They're giving Punk a title shot in his very last match. That's so unheard of. The only other person I remember them doing that for was Trish, and Trish has a great relationship with the WWE. Allegedly, Punk does not. So why would they give him a shot in his last match? For the angle. it makes no sense to do it otherwise.

(And to Cybrus, remember last year when they fired Daniel Bryan as part of a work? Believe it or not, the WWE IS smarter than we are.)

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
Punk was cut off just when he was starting to mention the anti-bully campaign. I think Punk contradicting WWE's anti-bully campaign and their deal with GLAAD maybe could be a bigger blow to the 'E (media standpoint) than mentioning TNA (unless he said "TNA on Spike TV") and Chris Benoit, considering how WWE cares more about their global image and distancing themselves from being a wrestling company.

Entire transcript of Punk's promo.

So he really is taking time off then? And it's his decision to take time off? Because if WWE allows someone to go out and do a worked shoot like that, it means they have high esteem for them, no matter the circumstance. They're not going to let somebody in the doghouse go out and talk about the McMahons and backstage people like that unless they feel that it would contribute greatly to the character.

But is there really still an argument to this though, as to what was worked and what was a complete shoot? It just seemed to come out of nowhere, though, which I think is what threw a lot of people off. Even Joey Styles' promo in '06 was definitely set-up with the knowing that an ECW PPV (and rebirth of the ECW brand) was coming up, and King's banter against Styles throughout the show. But this just seemed to come totally out of left field.

I'm not saying it was a complete shoot, but this might be the best example of WWE doing something outrageously unexpected because there was no reason for it to happen at all.

The Daniel Bryan firing wasn't a work. He was legitimately fired from the company. He was just rehired later. Someone actually wrote a blog detailing Paul Heyman's plans for Daniel Bryan in TNA had Heyman actually gotten creative control of the company at that time.

CM Punk's promo must have hooked some of the main stream media because Jim Rome is going to talk about it on his radio show in just a bit. He never talks wrestling, but he said "A WWE wrestler went off. Nothing I like better than a WWE take...other than a wrestler going off as he is going out the door."

Have to wait and see what he says.

Jim totally bought into Punk's promo. He said he knows wrestling is fake, but he just doesn't think Vince would have signed off on Punk dissing him, his family, the USA network and all the big names in the business like The Rock. He played clips and broke down the promo. He then said "But, Jim, if it were real, why didn't they just cut his mic? Well, they did!" Then he played that part. He said that if CM Punk wanted to come on the show and finish his personal story about Vince that got cut off, Rome would let him.

Awesome.

Someone with a Twitter account needs to tell Punk about that so he can get on the show and talk it up some more.

WWE added this to the story on WWE.com about CM Punk being suspended:

UPDATE: As of Tuesday, June 28, WWE and CM Punk have reached an agreement that Punk will fulfill his non-televised live event obligations for the remainder of his contract, through July 17. Furthermore, both sides have mutually agreed not to disparage one another.

And let's hope Rome calls him "Chris". :slap:

Funny how people don't think Vince would let Punk talk shit about him. Like that's worse than splitting his head open with a fucking chair, right? People should realize by now that Vince will take all sorts of chances if there's a potential reward.

PWInsider

- Sources report that CM Punk's entire promo at the end of RAW this week was improvised by Punk and not scripted. Nobody in the back knew what Punk was going to say until he said it live on RAW.

WWE officials told Punk to go out and say in his own words why he was leaving the company, why he wanted the WWE Title and why he wanted to leave with it in his possession. There was a discussion that when officials felt Punk was going too far, they would pull the plug on the segment and cut his mic.

It's said that Punk was upset months ago when Triple H came back to feud with The Undertaker and while some of his comments on RAW towards Vince McMahon were well thought out to appear not as a shoot to the average viewer, most believe that Punk's comments towards Triple H and John Laurinaitis were strictly a shoot.

Word also is that Punk had some notes for his speech jotted down on his wrist tape.

As far as his contract status, Punk's deal apparently expires the second week of July but he signed an extension to work through Money in the Bank. Still with last night's new storyline development, sources maintain that Punk is leaving at Money in the Bank.
