I mean, it was okay. It seems to be the new status quo of Raw where the first hour is average, while the second is really good. The only thing I hated was the divas match. Why of all the divas is Kelly Kelly the most over?

Well, the match between Rey and Cena was actually pretty good, as far as a non-PPV match goes. As was the title match earlier in the night. I kind of don't like how quickly Punk came back. Don't get me wrong, he's like, the only reason I'm thinking of tuning in for real next week, and the program definitely suffers without him. But I'm kind of disappointed that this work didn't last longer... |

Part of me wishes they held back the Punk return until SummerSlam. Have Rey and Cena's match be the main event there, and then after Cena won, CM Punk returned to close the show. |

This. But the other part of me knows that WWE programming will be much better with Punk on-air... |

That's the thing. Punk was the best thing going, and having him off the show like he "left" is a great way to continue it. But then again, it completely sucks because then he isn't on the show. So it's kind of a lose-lose |

Its because the main event scene in WWE is so thin these days. I mean, they roster is huge, but who do they have on raw as big draws other than Cena and Punk? Mysterio does great with the audience, sure, but he's not a main event wrestler. Miz is nowhere near as over as he once was. A-Ri is making progress, but he's not there yet. If WWE had as many huge main eventers now as they did back in 2000, they could do an angle like this successfully. But the past decade has not been kind to them. |

True. And that was the time when you can have big names like Stone Cold and Undertaker out for a year and not feel it at all because you still have huge names like The Rock, Mick Foley, and Triple H in the main event, and even guys like Kurt Angle and Big Show who could play main eventers successfully. |

Obviously, if you eliminate the good parts of anything then what's left isn't that great. Obviously. ![]() I thought Raw was great this week and think WWE is on a roll right now. The Rey/Miz match was a very solid opener that got the crowd real hot. The Triple H segment was excellent and incorporated several things from bringing J.R. back, to the hilarious moment with R-Truth, to bringing Morrison back. Rey and Cena closed the show with another solid match from Rey. And then Punk with his unannounced return at the end. There was a lot on this episode that I really liked. I cannot say that most weeks. So, yes, Raw was great this week. |

The Man. Any Questions?

I must piss on your riff now. Bringing Punk back already is fucking stupid. Gee, we get a PPV match/walkout, then ONE week with Cena and Punk off tv, and then BAM - meet the new match, same as the first. Only 15 days later, we have the belt on Cena AGAIN, and Punk facing him. Ho-fucking-hum. Sorry for the Punk marks, but I don't give a shit about him, frankly. I see no star power in him, and haven't from the get-go. |

Damn, you got me! But no, Miz could have been a star. Cena, Orton, Trips, Taker are stars. So not really. |

Miz could still be bigger, but they seem satisfied with where he is for some reason. In the vein of your theory of getting rid of old guys, they should really be putting Miz is a better Main Event position. Cena is done to death and will soon have to deal more with The Rock, Triple H is GM, Undertaker only shows up about 2 times a year. It won't be much longer until the fan response to CM Punk turns him face and Miz would be a good feud to have ready if he were a bigger main event player.

I don't like Orton personally, but I can't argue with his reactions. He's the most over guy in WWE. That makes him a star. |

By the same argument, Rey Mysterio is also a star. Punk is also a star too. If Orton is a star, then those other two can also be considered as stars. Orton is not someone I like, yet people mysteriously do fancy him.

Estimating times, of course: Opening mach: 15 minutes Triple H/J.R./R-Truth/Morrison: 20 minutes Miz Promo: 1-2 minutes Ending match: 10 minutes CM Punk return: 2-5 minutes So on a 2+ hour show, I thought at least 1 full hour was really good TV. Compared to other Raws that were just terrible, even last week's, then, yes, that's enough to call Raw great this week. |

How on earth can you, SRP76, even claim that Punk isn't getting as big to bigger reactions than Orton? Especially within the last month.

Drew Carey called Africa a country. I just quoted the man. ![]()
We aren't talking personal opinion. We are talking about your ability to recognize a star even if you don't like the performer. Randy Orton is one of the biggest stars in wrestling right now. Actually, he's the number 2 guy directly behind Cena. I can see why someone would argue that Punk is getting to be a bigger star, especially over the past month, but for anyone to flat out deny that Orton is a star just kills their credibility. Seriously, how can anyone take your opinion seriously when you say one of the biggest attractions in the industry isn't a star?

Yeah, he's a star for what WWE intends to do. The reactions he gets are what WWE wants. I compared him to Cullen. That's my way of saying he's a star of a franchise, but not exactly someone I like. |

But he's still a star. You can put Orton in any wrestling company right now and he'd always be a star. |

And that's pretty much the point. I hate Orton, but he is a star in the company and all of wrestling. He isn't the biggest in the industry or the company, but he is positioned to be at the top of the card for years to come baring injury or him fucking up in a serious way. |
