I've been looking forward to Raw all week. I cannot remember the last time I've said that (before the Punk storyline began). I know lots of people (mostly online) think WWE brought Punk back too soon, but it's really their best match to headline their second biggest PPV of the year. Plus, like I've already said, they've conditioned their audience to have such short attention spans that this angle would lose a lot of steam if they waited a few months to bring Punk back. I'm also curious to know if WWE still goes with the Anonymous GM storyline with Triple H being a regular on Raw now. (I've read he'll be on both shows for the foreseeable future). I don't remember if they even had the Anonymous GM computer set up last week. I'll look for it this week. I wonder if they are going to address it or just drop the storyline with the rationale that Triple H taking over trumps the Anonymous GM. But that wouldn't make sense since they still have Teddy Long on SD!. Guess I'll have to wait and see. |

That was so fucking amazing. I am in love with that promo. "How many times have you said 'i dont think he has what it takes' while lying in bed with your wife?"

I really wish they'd have started Raw with a Punk/Cena confrontation. Both men have reasonable claim for why they are WWE Champion. You could have had Punk come out and say that he beat John Cena for the WWE Title, thus he is the WWE Champion (which he did say). Then you could have had Cena come out and say that Punk left WWE and vacated the WWE Title automatically, and that Cena won the title fairly inside the WWE ring, thus making him WWE Champion. That would have really have sold the 2 Champions aspect of this feud. But the opening segment came across more like it was building to Punk/Triple H than anything. Beth Phoenix turning heel again and attacking Kelly Kelly. She's Punk's girlfriend. Do you think that has anything to do with her new push? I don't care. I'll take Beth as Divas Champion over Kelly Kelly any day. Plus, I like Beth a a heel. They have officially removed all mention of Nexus from Raw. The Tag Champs came out with new music, a new entrance video, and no kind of Nexus shirts or Nexus logo anywhere. I don't think anyone even cares why WWE didn't explain why they aren't with Punk anymore. I don't. I'm glad they finally separated Kofi and Ziggler. These guys seem like they've had 1000 matches already. But I don't like that Alex Riley is the next guy to feud for the US Title. This guy is so bland and boring. Please, make him go away. I wonder if they'll add a gimmick to the Punk/Cena WWE Title Unification match. Maybe have a ladder match or something? Or are they just going to go with a traditional wrestling match? Chris Jericho posted a message on Twitter criticizing Punk for mentioning his name on Raw. Don't know if you guys have seen it:
You have to wonder if this is just Jericho playing heel and planting seeds for a return feud against Punk some day. |

I heard Punk give an interview in which he said that the ladder match is his least favorite to be in because it's too dangerous. He said he hopes he never has to do another one. So, if he has his say, I don't know if that would happen. |

I hate to play 15 Shows here, but this is the best the WWE has been in a LONG time, and is maybe the best it will get for a long time. Can we stop nitpicking and just enjoy the show? |

So since WWE finally managed to create 1 compelling storyline, we should just stop talking about the show and instead just limit all comments to"fuck yeah, that was amazing and epic"? It's not nitpicking to watch a show and give your opinions on what you watch. It's discussion. Which is the entire point of a discussion forum. |

At this point, yes, because it's the only thing that's made me want to watch wrestling since The Rock came back.

The problem is that nothing on Raw last night was amazing or epic. It was good, but I actually thought the Punk/Cena storyline lost steam last night. But if you want to just say "It's epic that someone commented on Triple H and Steph...again", then that's fine. I'll stick with constructive criticism as I watch, as usual.

I thought the promo itself was great, not just that one line. When Punk and Triple H were talking, it actually seemed REAL and not contrived. That's why I always loved Triple H's promos. It never seemed like he was reading off a script. Cena and Orton, although they might have their good spots, always seem like every move they make was predetermined. That's why Punk has gained so much momentum, because you never know what he will say, and even if it was totally planned, it seems like he's still going off on this random tangent that wasn't planned. That's what made the promo so good. If it was Punk vs. Cena it wouldn't have been half as good, because Cena doesn't have the ability to work a promo like that. He is good at promos that require it sounding like you're speaking from the heart, but he can't work one of those types that Punk and Triple H had. Between the facial expressions and the hesitations, It seriously did sound like when Punk interrupted Triple H to bring up his "personal feelings aside" comment that it was unplanned and they just winged it from there. They have that ability that makes you want to watch. Besides that, I could have cared less about the "raise the title up in the air to see who gets the louder pop" confrontation for the second week in a row. Edited by WWEFootos48, Aug 2 2011, 02:13 PM.

I totally agree with that. Punk and that story was/is the hottest thing going. However, this past Monday did nothing for me from a continuing storyline standpoint. Maybe it was because everyone knew that there was going to be a unification match at SS, but it seemed like a very predictable Raw. Punk and Triple H cut a great promo because they are tow of the very few that don't get a script. They get bullet points to hit and a free mic. Also, where is Rey Mysterio's rematch? Cena fought Rey last Monday because he never got his rematch vs Punk. So, Where is Rey's rematch? |
