You people hate him because he's boring? I think he's a good foil to Punk.

I like John Laurinaitis okay? His nephew is the baddest MLB in the NFL, okay? Say what you want about the guy, okay, but he, like Michael Cole okay, does what he gets paid to do. He is a heel, okay, that people absolutely hate, okay? His being boring and bland is part of what makes him good at his job, okay? Plus, this made me laugh out loud for reals...okay?

Johny Ace is in the "So bad he's funny" category. He's like the assistant manager who puts on a shit eating grin when he's on the floor, but then reports you the second you get out of line.

I really don't see him as a heel per se, but rather along the lines of lawful neutral, he tries to be as fair as he can without looking like a push over.

Ive come around with John and have 0 problems with him. His role is a needed one and he does it well. Micheal Cole on the other hand. Well he sucks.

The Man. Any Questions?
I see no need for this twat. Other than Punk making fun of him. What, you NEED to be told by some tard on a mic that Punk will defend the title at blah-blah ppv and whatnot? Jesus Christ, fans should be able to figure out the obvious for themselves.

I too think the authority figure role has long since served its purpose. I would be happy if we went back to when there was no authority figure actually on the show, but the announcers basically told you that whatever was booked as you were watching the show.

Wrong. You need someone to make unfair matches for the heels to have the upperhand over the faces.

Bullshit. We've seen the "unfair matches" for TWENTY FUCKING YEARS! They didn't need that crap during their biggest timeframe, and they don't need it now.

Exactly. The GM role has only been around for about the last 10 years. Before that, matches were just made without anyone needing to waste 15-20 minutes explaining why the matches happen. They just happen because it's a wrestling show and they are suppose to happen. Then on the very rare times that an authority figure did appear on a show, it was actually a newsworthy event and something people paid attention to.

No, you don't need an on air character to do this. We've seen heels gain advantages long before the GM role was ever created. There are actually several ways to book such matches without ever needing a GM to set it up. And all of these ways involve putting heat on the heel wrestler and not the heel GM.

Now, I'm not saying the GM role hasn't been fun. Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff were both great GMs and made the roles come to life. But the role has really out lived its worth. They can always bring it back, but for now I'd rather there not be an on air authority figure.

That's not really right either. I grew up watching wrestling in the late 1970's and 80's. They might not have had a "GM", but they had The Promoter. He served the same role. When something needed to be book or someone deserved a title shot, the promoter would come out and book that match. The GM role has been around forever, just under a different name. And, it does serve a purpose if you want logic in your storylines. If a face is chasing a heel champion that refuses to give him a title shot, how does he mysteriously get one without a GM type figure to lay down the law? The problem is that the WWE's GMs are on camera way too often, not that they exist.

But "the promoter" wasn't on every single show, was he? He just made appearances when warranted. Mostly, the shows went without any kind of authority figure making an appearance and matches just happened because they were matches. Right?

Promoter. President. Comissioner. CEO. GM. All the same thing. My point wasnt that they need to be on every show. But you cant just not have on. I like John. I was just sticking up for the job hes done with the role.

During the contract signing last week. When he looked in the camera and wished John Morrison the best. You cant tell me you didnt at least crack a smile if not laugh out loud. I know I did.
