Final Two should've been Orton and Jericho. That would've blown the roof off. |

Why didn't they have Brodus Clay in the Rumble? He could have eliminated 20 people.

Double elimination, via Hart/Luger? Jericho goes for WWE Title, Sheamus for World? No, they both get back in the ring. Type faster, Cy! Damn. |

They really need to build Sheamus again. I'm happy that Sheamus is getting a renewed push, but they should have been building him up on SD! before this win. With Cena vs Rock and Undertaker vs Triple H at WM this year, they didn't need a huge name to win the Rumble. The question is can Sheamus win the World Title. When is the last time a Rumble winner has won the belt at 'Mania? 2007? |

So Sheamus vs Brian at WM? Whatever, this Royal Rumble was pretty bad. It had some decent matches, but the Rumble itself was surprisingly disappointing. I say it's surprising because I can't remember a time where the quality of a rumble disappointed me. I think at least half of the entrants were jobbers.

Well the WWE is pretty good at failing to deliver. They fail to deliver a good Rumble. and MOST IMPORTANTLY NOTHING CAME OF JERICHO SAYING THE WORLD WILL END AS WE KNOW IT. NOTHING. Im pissed. I finally decide to watch just cause Jerichos back and the WWE remains to be shit. Im done watching this garbage product. Peace WWE. You lost one of your most loyal fans ever. Im done. Not even watching Wrestlemania. |

Ricardo Rodriguez might have been the highlight of the night. That's pretty sad considering he's a manager. Anyone who ordered this PPV probably feels ripped off right about now.

Horrible Rumble, Kharma was the biggest surprise? I hope Orton or Barrett win at The Chamber. I can't see Bryan/Sheamus being a Main Event at WM. |

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!

WWE just trolled everyone with having Sheamus win instead of Jericho. ![]() It felt odd to see Sheamus win. But WWE can get away with it and feed Bryan to Sheamus since Cena vs. Rock will sell WM. |

After reading about this event, the only thing I would have cared to see was... Then again, he was basically my favorite wrestler back in 1999/2000, so... ![]() I'm so glad that the audience reacted. It wasn't an explosion but it was enough of a reaction that it shows they still knew who he was. His appearance at the Slammys was the opposite and made me sad.

To be fair, I don't think Sheamus has lost a match all year. He definitely has been put over strong on SmackDown lately as a babyface. Edited by Kame, Jan 30 2012, 01:36 PM.

He may not have lost a match all year, but he has been treated like a unimportant midcarder. He's been feuding with Jinder Mahal of all people. He's been hanging out with Hornswoggle. Sheamus has the look and the skills to be a Champion and I am glad he's getting repushed, but he has been treated so poorly by WWE that no one takes him as a serious threat right now. |

This is about to be the "How I would've booked the match" post, so yeah wall of text incoming; Sheamus victory was completely random, and not a clever swerve at that. It was more o a "Wow, that was really stupid" type of swerve. I get that they're trying to build Sheamus back up (after tearing him down so damn much in 2010 and part of 2011), but I don't think this is the best way to do it. Like Cybrus said, since his face turn, Sheamus has been in nothing but meaningless feuds. About the only one that was actually interesting Christian and that one was cut short due to his injury. So honestly, if you really wanted to build Sheamus up for the Rumble win, he should've entered it a lot earlier. The biggest problem with this rumble was that there was just so much padding with the guest appearances and comedy wrestlers (Kharma was the legit shocker though) and almost no story or baby face to pull for through the match. Hell even with the Miz (who logically should've been the focal point of the match since he entered at number 1) faded into the background after eliminating Truth. So yeah, Sheamus should've entered the Rumble earlier in the match (at number 5 or something like that) that way his win at the end would've meant more. Miz should've been eliminated by R-Truth (and then in a rage, eliminated Truth and took him out). Orton and Barrett should've gone at at more (possibly causing a double elimination on each other). If Big Show had to be in the Rumble, he also should've entered earlier just so we could have the traditional "Who could possibly eliminate a man that size" moment (and it should've been Sheamus to do the deed.) |

I've seen a lot of people complaining about how the Rumble match itself was too comedy-oriented but in my opinion wrestling is inherently goofy and needs to embrace that so I didn't mind. However I do think they could have benefited from going with 40 guys again this year. It felt way too fast (and it lasted 54 minutes!) and I was kind of disappointed that Regal and Kane weren't in the match. Kharma was cool, though, and I've never even seen her wrestle before (only started watching again in November). P.S. I will gladly be a mark because smarks are DICKHEADS. Take that.

So according to this article and Dave Meltzer, apparently, John Cena was originally scheduled to win the Royal Rumble? |
