Well, the rumor is that if Cena would have won the Rumble (which it says was changed saturday night) "the whole storyline here would have been Cena wrestling with the idea of choosing between a championship match or wrestling The Rock at WrestleMania 28". Honestly, that seems like a very solid angle and it along with the entire rumor would help explain why the Royal Rumble was so lackluster to so many people and Sheamus' win was so unexpected. If the rumor is true (which I see no reason why it couldn't be), then it has to make you wonder exactly what they're going to do with Sheamus then if they weren't even planning on doing anything with him in the first place. It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
|
I remember reading somewhere else that the original plan was Sheamus, but WWE wanted to tease people with a possible Jericho victory. |

Yeah, I don't think the idea of Cena winning and choosing between winning the WWE Title (which he's had 10 times) and facing the Rock (which he's been building up for a year on WWE TV) would be very entertaining. It would have been obvious that he'd choose to face The Rock and it would have really hurt the entire build to the WWE Title match. I'm not saying it isn't an idea WWE may have had, but it doesn't sound like it'd had any plausible chance of coming true. |
