John L is getting much better in his role (similar to how Vickie grew into her role, but not on such a large scale like that just yet). But I've been saying this in the Raw Discussion Threads, Punk/John L is NOT the new Austin/McMahon. I hope they have something better for Punk planned before Austin comes back to set up next year's WM match. |

The Man. Any Questions?

These twats are engaging in revisionist history. There was no "build" to Austin stunning Vince. Austin was out with the injury after Owen's piledriver, and Austin simply nailed Vince during an interview. There was NO feud yet, and wouldn't be for another 6 months.

Nothing more epic then when Bret Hart pushed Vince down in early 97. I beleive that was the first time Vince was ever touched in WWE. |

Laurinaitis is just another GM. Nobody attacking him will be anything even remotely close to what it was like for somebody in the mid-90s to attack McMahon before the Mr. McMahon persona took off. It also helps that when McMahon first started to get physical, it wasn't the norm for wrestlers to beat up authority figures. Nowadays it seems every major angle has an authority figure getting beaten up at least once during the course of it. |

The Man. Any Questions?

No. He actually took a pretty wicked chairshot when he got caught up in a Ric Flair-Roddy Piper brawl in '91. |

Didn't Nailz beat the shit out of Vince McMahon? It wasn't on camera and was very real, but that was the first I remember of anyone laying their hands on Vince. I don't remember what year that was though. |

Austin/McMahon can't be replicated, and I'm not saying that because of an "Attitude Era > Everything mindset." It's the same way how several wrestlers started wearing 3-piece suits and cutting intellectual promos like SRS Jericho, or if someone attempted to pull off a smarky "shoot" like Punk did in July. Just ain't going to work. |

Jericho wasn't the first wrestler to wear a suit and use big words. I'm just saying. |

I know he wasn't, but what made it unique in his case was that it was such a drastic switch from his Y2J persona. It isn't a coincident that Shad from Cryme Tyme and even the Miz started doing the same afterwards. |

I'm pretty sure Miz was wearing dressed up attire before Jericho. |

And Jericho didn't "start" using big words at that point either. He always used that vocabulary. He just didn't speak in a monotone, and used those "big words" more for comedic effect. And half the wrestlers since the 1970s have worn suits. My personal favorite suit-wearing wordsmith was Paul Ellering (manager of the Road Warriors in the 1980s). |

Wrong. He was wearing a vest and stupid hat. But keep living the dream that Miz "didnt" rip off Jericho. Wait and see in the coming months though. I just know that Jericho will comment on it during a promo. And I will laugh. Tomorrow night on RAW, my Miz loving friend, youll see the master at work. |

Forget Miz. Jericho ripped of a hundred other guys, so it's not like he did anything original. Admit it. Both Miz and Jericho just did what a bunch of others had already done. |

Stand Back! There's a Hurricane Coming Through

Everyone in the wrestling business rips off everyone else and those that came before them. There hasn't been any originality in pro wrestling in decades. It doesn't matter. The show is a formula. How good it is, is based solely on the wrestlers and their level of talent. Vince was the owner and then became so hated because he was the ultimate heel GM character. His word and power was absolute. Austin took on that. Those two characters were at the top of the game in the industry. Punk and Laurinaitis may be the top of the Raw card, but not at the level of Austin and McMahon. |

For once, you and I are in complete agreement. One hundred percent. But you also know (like I do) that WWE preys on new fans, who don't know the history. They're passing this watered-down shit off. Makes me sad. |

STAY HYPED!!!

That's exactly my point, which I've made in several threads. Miz didn't "rip off" Jericho, because Jericho didn't invent wearing a suit. He wasn't even the first one of this generation to wear a suit. Hell, everyone from Evolution was wearing suits. Jericho ripped off Evolution, right? Nope. Wearing a suit in wrestling is about as generic as wearing kneepads. |

Depends how believable he was wearing that suit and I can tell he was. He looked like a complete suited prick. More power to him I guess. |

Its not just about the suit. Which I dont think you elders understand. Its about the little things my friends. |

Feel free to explain the little things, then. I guarantee you that each and every little thing you list has existed long before Jericho. Jericho's last heel turn was great. I'm not saying it wasn't. But he didn't re-invent the wheel or do anything new. He was just good at what he did. And for anyone to say "that guy is just ripping off Jericho" only shows how little they know about wrestling. |
