And watch, even when they're in New Jersey, they'll say they're in New York.

![]() The only thing I'm interested in is the weather. Honestly I always wanted to see WM held at Yankee Stadium (especially the old one before it closed in '08) but weather in my area during March/April isn't usually that great for wrestling. It's not terribly cold, but cold enough to cause a bit of an annoyance, especially since the event is held at night. Clearly I'm excited though, if anyone couldn't tell.

I was looking up some New Jersey jokes to toss out, but damn... nearly all of them I could find (granted I didn't look too hard) are about Rutger's University and the ones that aren't are either about easy women, incest, dumb men, or bestiality. I'm actually very surprised about the amount of incest and bestiality jokes for New Jersey. I kept wondering if I was looking at a list for some southern state.

What are some of the Rutgers jokes? I went there for a bit and hated it so I'd like to hear some.

So apparently the Rutger's football team isn't very good...

It's not that they aren't good, it's that they were nothing until they somehow made this amazing charge one year and became nationally known as one of the best comebacks ever. But since then it seems like they get close then just lose. As for the other jokes, like I said...I went to Rutgers. It's all true. I was just hoping for some RU Screw jokes, which is the reference to the fact that the school will always find some way to screw something up, or in my case, screw something up to the point where you get withdrawn. ![]() I'm technically still enrolled there even though I go to a different university now. Just don't tell them.

So does this mean the rumor about Stone Cold doing one last match is going to be pushed back a year too? The rumor was that he was going to wrestle in Dallas at WM.

Noooo! I want to see Austin! And I just wanted to comment on the whole not having WM 30 at MSG thing...MSG is the absolute best place in the world to watch a wrestling event, and I don't give a shit who says otherwise. I've been to WWE events at 3 major arenas around here in the past few years and there's no comparison. But there's also no comparison between selling 20,000 tickets (now 16 and change after the renovation) and 80,000+ tickets, especially when you know that being in the NYC metro area, all those tickets will sell. Again, I do think the weather will be a concern to some and might be a reason some may not want to get tickets (I'm surprised that was never brought up in any article, because that was one of the main arguments against the Super Bowl taking place there), but it's a major financial gain by moving it away from MSG. That, and I'm sure they want to set the attendance record there before the Super Bowl is held there.

I've never been to MSG (and probably never will) but even just as a home viewer I've always preferred it over any other arena WWE operates in. Not like it's difficult since most are pretty generic. But there's just something about it, especially when the entrance used to come out of the side rather than the usual ramp entrance. Visually, it's a very minimalist but raw kind of feel and that's very appealing to me when I watch wrestling. Probably part of why I've always preferred the visual presentation of a house show over the stuff on TV.

I know, that's what I loved about it too. It sucks because they recently renovated it so they took out that side entrance they used to have, which is why Survivor Series had the normal entrance. They re-did the entire lower bowl of seats so it isn't there anymore. I still won't forget the one Raw I went to in '09 where Piper was the guest host and they used that entrance for the show and I couldn't see a damn thing. ![]() And as loud as it sounds on TV, it is legit louder in person. It has the best acoustics of any arena I've ever been to, and that goes for concerts too. |

That was my favorite part and probably the most memorable thing about it aesthetically when it comes to wrestling events. They should seriously have more entrances like that. I know WWE likes to present their events as if they're bigger than life and all of that, but there's something so much more appealing to it all when the stage is minimized and the crowd is more involved. It's a charm that is sorely lacking from today's wrestling - part of why I'm not as interested anymore. |

I know. I think the reason it worked so well was because of how close that entrance was to the middle of the arena. I just don't see something like that working in newer arenas where the wrestler has to walk a long distance to the ring. Especially if you're at a televised event and you don't have the big titan tron to see if you sit far away. I'm pissed too because they added a lot of private boxes and cut the total attendance down by at least a couple thousand just by doing that. I think the Foo Fighters concert I went to there was a complete sellout at only 16,000, when the normal attendance for a concert could easily hit 20,000. Edited by WWEFootos48, Jan 14 2012, 02:46 PM.

On TV I tend to prefer it when they're hosted at a major football or baseball stadium. The large area filled with people it just seems so much bigger and more important. However I can see how that can also be so damn frustrating when you're their live. Especially if you're shoved somewhere way out back.

I can agree with the appreciation of a much large arena, too, actually. I prefer MSG-like arenas for the most part but my second favorite WWE arena was the one for WrestleMania XIX in Seattle. That one was absolutely massive and really gave off the feeling of it being a very important event. But it had one of my other favorite features helping that - being semi-outdoor. I love outdoor arenas, and I don't know why. I mean, my favorite WCW "arena" ever was the Road Wild one outside in Sturgis. I think in my ideal world, WWE would host all of it's PPVs (or maybe just it's TV shows) in MSG-like arenas with that intimate feel and save the really massive arenas for WrestleMania. Of course, this completely goes against reality since costs, locations, etc don't really allow for this but... it's my fantasy, damn it!

Yeah, the one at Seattle was the one I had in mind as well as WM24 in Orlando. I think it was Orlando. |

I was thinking of that one, too, in fact that's why I mentioned outdoor arenas because it popped into my mind after thinking of the Seattle one. Edit: Does the arena that hosted WrestleMania III still exist? If it did, I'd be curious to see WWE return there if only to see if the can beat their record. Although I have heard from a few places that the 93k number was greatly exaggerated, but who knows if there's any truth to that. Edited by Kraul, Jan 14 2012, 03:14 PM.

It was held in the Silverdome in Detroit, which was demolished to make way for the new Lions Stadium. So no. |

They should have just kept it. I don't know much about football, but I know enough to know that building a new stadium for the Lions is a waste of money.

Just another FYI, Ford Field is new stadium and that's where WM 23 was held (20 years after WM III). I think they said the attendance for that event was 80,000 when it happened. |
