What is World Wrestling Entertainment, anyway?

"What do you like to discuss?"
Edit: Oh, and it might be nitpicking but World Wrestling Entertainment isn't a thing anymore. It's strictly "WWE" now and has been for awhile. :-/

It's the legal name, but it's not the correct name and looks wrong.

J.J.S.

I remember when Vince Russo became part of WCW (my preferred fed at the time) and Tony Schiavone began calling it "sports entertainment" when he used to call it wrestling. That made me mad.

It's always annoyed me that Hogan says "jabroni" a lot.

Even if it was apparently wrestling slang before The Rock, The Rock made it popular to say it on TV... and so Hogan started it and hasn't stopped many years after "jabroni" stopped being cool to wrestling fans. :-/

"Smackdown" is a word in the dictionary now.

I bought Hogan Knows Best on DVD (3 season set for 5 bucks) and I was seriously thinking about that today. He uses the word A LOT.

It always annoyed me that The Rock used it so much and that people thought that it was some :quote: cool slang :quote: that he came up with. Jabroni was used in wrestling long before the Rock was even born. He probably got it from listening to his Dad and his dad's buddies or the shows he was on.

I thought that's where he picked up his "smell what [The Rock's] cooking" line?

I remember him saying it somewhere about how his dad was this real cool kind of hip guy back in his 20s and 30s and used to have all sorts of slang, with "if you smell what I'm cooking" being one of them.

Then he used it as a throwaway line in an interview with Gennifer Flowers pre-WrestleMania XIV and it just caught on huge.

That was one of the things that annoyed me about The Rock. Most of his stuff was junk he got from his Dad and his Dad's friends. Yet everyone thought he was so fresh and cool.

Maybe but... you would go to any length to hate The Rock.

And he was fresh and cool. Nobody in the wrestling world had been quite like him before (or since).

Besides, absolutely everything that is considered to be "cool" was taken from somebody else at some time, so that's kind of a lame complaint. It's not like Rocky Johnson spent his whole WWF career talking about laying the smack down on people and if they could smell what he was cooking or anything. It was some slang he apparently used in real life that The Rock thought was cool so he decided to drop it once or twice and it picked up because others also thought it was cool.

That's how things become "cool".
