2012 ROYAL RUMBLE WINNER MOTHERFUCKERS!!!
|
Got my first tattoo today. It's my grandfather's signature with his birth date. ![]() It was $95 including the $15 tip I gave him. |

Cool shit. The perfect tattoo for a first, too, since it's so basic and brief. Not to mention something that obviously means a lot to you. And yeah, Oatseeder, tattoos can be pricey. It usually depends on if you know the person or not. My first, for example, was just a black ankh on my left middle finger. It's a tribute to my life long love of Ancient Egyptian culture and, more obviously, a tribute to Raven (since he has the same tattoo, more or less). That cost about $95, too, and it's maybe 1 inch by half an inch or so and just black. But then again, I didn't know the guy at all and apparently he's one of the bigger tattoo guys in the Salt Lake City area (at least four years ago he seemed to be). My second was a red shock logo from Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar period (specifically the one on the CD) and it's about 2/3 the length of my forearm and was about the same price, even with a piercing added in the same session. But I think the girl doing that just thought I was cute. I did basically cup her tit for most of the tattooing process.

Ooh, I knew they were quite pricey, but I still didn't think it'd cost that much for a basic tattoo.

Yeah, unless you know the person or have some connections or something, they seem to be usually pretty pricey. That's why you'll hear about somebody spending thousands on like full sleeves or a back piece or whatever. |

That is your left forearm, right? How did this work out? Did he sign your arm personally and then you just went and had it inked? Or did you somehow blow up his signature and have that traced onto your arm? |

I had my gramps sign a piece of paper months ago. I was like "Let me see your signature" and he signed really quickly. I told him to take his time signing it, and he did. Then I took the paper in, they blew it up, and traced it on to a thin piece of paper and then onto my arm. |

And how long did it take from start to finish? I don't think it would take too very long since it's a simple design, but I don't think it was anything that could have been started and completed in less than half an hour, maybe even an hour? |

That's pretty cool, it's something personal that means a lot to you and not something questionable or done while drunk. |

The tattoo literally took about 25-30 minutes. And yes, it's a very meaningful tattoo. My grandpa is a huge part of my life, he's always been there for me. I've never known my actual dad (nor do I want to at this point), I don't even know what he looks...My gramps has helped raise me and my sister...not to mention raised my mom and her two sisters (who aren't even his kids, they have the same mom) as a single parent. So yeah, I thought I'd do this to honor him. He doesn't know I got a tattoo of his signature, just that I got one. He was telling me the other day (again, not knowing of what I'm getting) that I should get it on my ass. Hah hah. |

Yeah, like I took the time to read other people's comments. I barely recognize that there are more than one of you guys. I usually see things as "Me" and "not me".
