If Cybrus stopped showing up...

How long should we give it until we assume he's dead?

I know we went through a thing a few years ago where he took some time off and everybody assumed something happened (maybe it was a prank, I can't remember), but if it was to happen for real, when should we assume he's not going to be showing back up?

After all, he could conceivably die or become seriously immobilized at any minute of any day, so this is always a possibility. :)

Would six months be good? Too long? Too short? What happens when we come to the conclusion that he's not returning? Do we continue the board the best we can with two mods, even though we'd be running some big risks? Or do we start a spin-off forum?

Just some random thoughts as my plans to murder Cybrus and blame it on a power hungry DL or Whosey take shape.

STAY HYPED!!!
Last time I took an unexpected leave of absence is when I was having computer problems. I think it took a month to get things fixed. By the time I returned, people had already begun planning on how to move forward without me. I believe the plan was to move away from these forums and start a new forum.

I think if something did happen and I was gone for an extended period of time without any explanation, then after a month I'd expect people to start talking about what to do. After 2 months, I think people would actually start putting plans into motion and doing whatever they agreed upon. By month 3 and 4, I think whatever attempt to succeed my reign would have either worked or have failed. Either way, I think 6 Star would still see some kind of activity until it became as barren as that place you and Levi used to talk about where it was just the two of you. I think we'd have people that would still come here even though no one would seemed to be online. Whether that was once a week or once a month, I don't know. But I don't think people would just completely abandon this forum unless they just couldn't access it anymore.

And not to sound too cocky, but I really do think the 6 Star community would die if I suddenly disappeared. A forum cannot survive without an active administrator. A forum can maintain with just moderators, but a forum without an active Administrator is on numbered days. I think we've both been a part of forums without active admins to know that.

So in order for the 6 Star community to stand any kind of chance, you guys would have to move the forums. Someone would have to start a new forum and everyone would have to follow. The thing is, I don't know if the 6 Star community is strong enough to survive that kind of move. We only have a handful of truly active members and many of them are just causal posters that just show up every once in a while. How many of the core group would move? And once you got to the new forum, how would they react to such a serious change as a new forum, new leadership, and a completely radical change in forum structure? Again, you and I have been a part of forums in the past that have split off and we both saw how things may start off strong with people initially excited by the change, but how quickly things can turn from there. It takes a strong leader to guide the forum in that kind of situation.

I would like to think that the forums would try to survive. I would guess that it'd be DL that would take over the community and become the new "leader". I think DL could easily be a great administrator and run a successful forum. Or if DL didn't want to, for whatever reason, then I think Purple Marauder would start a place for former 6 Star members to go, since he's been in the forum game for so long and has experience as member, moderator, and even administrator. So I do think that there are people that would step up and say "Ok, here's what we are going to do". I just worry about how strong of a group would follow.

Holy shit, it's like the bat signal for James.

Mention Cybrus and the virtual short bus will hit the brakes and out will come James_Sunderland with his "Cybrus #1" foam finger, club foot and all.

So the question is... why is it not for discussion?

Another question is... is it not for discussion between members and staff of is it not a discussion between Cybrus and the rest of members and staff?

Have you made up your mind about this when you made this site about this or did you made your mind about this when I started questioning your decision?

In all and all I'm just curious of how you think about these things :angel2: .
