STAY HYPED!!!
I've had the "Instant Streaming" version of Netflix for a few months now and I am happy with the service. For only $8 a month I can watch as much online content as I want. Their online selection doesn't feature many new movies or many blockbuster movies, but it's a good selection over all. The main thing I watch are TV shows (Biggest Loser, Scrubs, Wings, NewsRadio, Psych, Power Rangers, Better Off Ted, etc). I have seen a few WWE DVDs and Insiduous and few other movies, but mostly it's been TV shows. And they also have "The Walking Dead" on here which several people on here talk about, so I might try to watch that as well.

Since I am so happy with the "Instant Streaming" of Netflix, I have been thinking of upgrading my account to have both "Instant Streaming" and DVD rentals. For $16 a month I can have unlimited "Instant Streaming" and can rent 1 DVD at a time. But I can return that DVD and get another DVD and keep doing this as many times in a month as I want. So, really, it's unlimited DVD rentals for just $8 a month....with the hidden limit being the amount of time it takes to be sent to me, sent back from me, and however long it takes me to watch the movie. But I figure even if I only get 2 movies a week, that's still 8 movie rentals a month for just $8, which is a good deal.

I don't go to the movies and I don't rent movies. Really, the only time I see movies are when they come on my satellite stations. I have been wanting to sit down and watch all the Transformer movies, since I've only seen bits of the first two on satellite. And there are a few other movies that I have been thinking about watching. But I really don't have a big list of "must see" movies in mind. So if you had to make a list of movies that have come out in the past 5-10 years, which movies would you recommend as "must see" movies. And try to keep your list somewhat manageable. No need to list 100 movies. A list of 10-20 would be a great start for now.

I could probably name plenty of films, but I don't know whether I should just name the ones I like or try to cater for your personal taste. Which to be honest, I don't really know.

Any types of film you dislike?

I think it'd probably work best if you'd just list your recommendations and then I look up the movies to see if I would like them. Because I really cannot think of a type that I have a strong liking or strong disliking for. It's just whatever I'm in the mood for at the time of viewing.

So far on my list are:

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Transformers
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Shrek Forever After
A Good Old Fashioned Orgy
The Hangover 2
Horrible Bosses
Taken

And that's just the movies I can remember being interested in over the last year.

Ah, perfect! I need information. I got it last month on my PS3, and I'll start getting charged this week.

So, can you tell me exactly how much money they take out of your account? I know damn well that they say 8 bucks, but it's going to be more. It always is. I need to know how much I need to leave in my account at all times.

I haven't looked at a copy of my bank statement yet, so I cannot say with absolute certainty. But I've got friends that use the service and they all told me there were no hidden fees and that it was a straight forward $8 price. I'll let you know whenever my next bank statement comes in. :tu:

I'd recommend Zombie Apocalypse.

Yes, yes, I'd be laughing at myself too, a couple days ago. It's a SyFy Channel movie. But, I gave it a chance because I was SO bored, I was thinking af drinking bleach for some excitement.

As it turns out, the movie was surprisingly - in fact, shockingly - solid. Sure, there were a handful of SyFy Channel stupidity aspects, but overall it was decent.

Oooh, speaking of a SyFy movie. I need to add "Tin Man" to my list. I saw that on SyFy and loved it. I would like to watch it again to see if it was as good as I remember it being or if it's a case of me remembering something better than it really is.

I see a distressing lack of Clint Eastwood on Netfilx. Only 3 titles? Come ON!

And it kind of REALLY sucks that I can't browse everything. The PS3 interface only shows 75 movies for each "genre" (with many being re-used across several of them). I can find others by specifically searching, but that's only helpful when you know exactly what you're looking for!

"Instant Streaming" is severely limited. Those 75 titles for each genre is all you'll find for the "Instant Streaming" version of Netflix. You have to upgrade your account and rent DVDs if you want the full selection. The good news is that they'll often change the "Instant Streaming" selection, but you will not see very many big name selections on Instant Streaming.

Have you browsed the full catalog or just the instant streaming? Go to netflix.com and log in to view the full catalog. A lot of the stuff you can only get on DVD.

Oh, I know they don't offer even a fraction of what they have on DVD. What I meant was, it doesn't show everything that's available for streaming.

For example, I don't see, say, The Black Stallion. Now, I use "search" for Black Stallion, and...there it is. Streaming.

That's what drives me nuts. Show them all, so something we may have forgotten about jumps out at us!

Here is a list of some other movies I'd recommend (I would say short, but there's like 40 movies here). I don't know what you have watched before (outside of Back to the Future and Harry Potter (and I think Star Wars), though I'm assuming you've seen the most popular ones such as Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Ghostbusters, Rocky, Die Hard, ET, Toy Story, Titanic, The Wizard of Oz, the Batmans, etc. (if not, add them to the list, though)), nor if they're on netflix, but I've provided a variety of diffrent genres and eras that they were made in (except for Silent and Foreign Language films (with one exception) which I don't think you'd be interested in). I've also provided a trailer (and a wikipedia link) for each of the movies to help you decide if it is your cup of tea.

12 Angry Men
The Adventures of Robin Hood
Alien
Amadeus
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Big Trouble in Little China
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
Casablanca
City Lights and Modern Times
Coraline
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Dollars Trilogy (Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, Good, Bad, and the Ugly)
Dracula (1931)
Fantasia
Fargo
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Frankenstein (1931)
Full Metal Jacket
Groundhog Day
The Invisible Man
Jaws
Kick-Ass
The Neverending Story
The Nutty Professor (1963)
Psycho
Pulp Fiction
Scarface
The Shawshank Redemption
The Shining
Silence of the Lambs
Singin' in the Rain
Slumdog Millionaire
The Social Network
Spaceballs
Terminator and Terminator 2
To Kill A Mockingbird
The Wrestler
X-Men: First Class

I just went to Netflix.com to upgrade my account and found my billing history there. Here is my current monthly charge, if you're interested:

Isn't the norm in USA to mention the price without including taxes for nearly anything for sale?

Yes. But the problem with a lot of services is that they fail to mention other fees, like "FCC Line Rent" and other bullshit, that winds up popping up on your bill. That's why I figured $8 wouldn't be $8.

This was a nice surprise.

Why would you bother with the Michael Bay Transformers movies? They're horrible.

Visioneers

That's my only recommendation for you. One of my favorites.

I updated my DVD Queue yesterday when I upgraded my account. I just signed in and checked, and I don't see any kind of movement shown. They have and "estimated arrival time" thing listed, so I assumed it would show me a DVD as it was in the process of being shipped to me. But nothing so far. I plan on using this service for a full month, but if it takes forever to get a DVD to me, then I'll be downgrading quickly. But it's too early to judge, since I don't know how long it takes for them to recognize I have upgraded my account and to actually start sending me DVDs. I think I'll have a better idea after I've gotten 2 or 3 movies.

And it also has to do with tax percentages varying a bit according to the state where you purchase something?

So far on my list are:

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Transformers
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Shrek Forever After
A Good Old Fashioned Orgy
The Hangover 2
Horrible Bosses
Taken
From your list, I'd suggest only the first Transformer film, Horrible Bosses and Taken.

I dunno what's on Netflix right now. But now you can search by TV Network. So if you can see stuff from HBO and Showtime, go for it.

And I got "Shrek the Final Chapter" today. I went to sleep really early today, but I'm sure it came with the early mail delivery. So I guess, technically, I could have watched the movie today and returned it if I wanted so the next movie on my list could be shipped. But I slept all day.

The DVD came in a red envelope (type thing) with my name on it. I pull the top off and it has the return address on it. I don't have to pay for any kind of postage or anything. I simply put it back in the envelope (type thing) and send it back. As long as I don't lose that envelope, all will be good. :tu:
