The best thing you've watched this week.

I've watched a whole lot of series finale's in the past week or so.. none of them have really been great to be honest.

How I Met Your Mother has at least started to provide some answers, albeit not the programs name sake as of yet.. but I'm hopeful they won't milk the show for too much longer. It's starting to run a little dry on me now in all honesty, which is a shame because I absolutely adored the show to start with.

New Girl, The Big Band Theory, The Office and Supernatural were all okay.. nothing spectacular though.

Game Of Thrones has been great, as per usual.. although it's somewhat withered to me in comparison to the first season now that I'm reading the books and I know the outcomes that lie ahead. Whereas when I watched the first season, every little twist and turn was a surprise to me.

I think for me the best thing that I've watched this week has to be Breaking Bad.. I started watching it almost exactly a week ago I think, and it's just got progressively better. I'm hoping to catch up within a couple more weeks so that I'm good and prepared for the new season in July.

What about you guys?

That's why I absolutely refuse to read the books. I don't know why anyone would. You have to know that they're going to greatly hinder your enjoyment of the series, so why not enjoy the series first, and then enjoy the books even more?

Game of Thrones has topped my list every week for the last seven weeks. The only close contender has been Mad Men.

STAY HYPED!!!
I have HIMYM recorded, but still haven't gotten around to watching it. I found HIMYM maybe a year or two ago and was a big fan for a while. I watched all the shows back-to-back to catch up on the series. But I just have not been into this season at all. I've seen all the episodes, but I find I wait weeks between viewings. I really do think this show has been stretched about as far as it can go. Another season, two tops, and then I see it going off.

Similar story with Big Bang Theory in that I didn't start watching until about a year or two ago. And, again, I became an instant huge fan and watched all the episodes I missed back-to-back until I caught up. But I'm still a big fan of this show. I record it Thursday nights since I'm getting ready for work and miss it, then watch it first thing Friday morning when I get off. But I do think this show has also been stretched about as far as it can be stretched. I don't see this going much longer than 2 more seasons. I did watch the season finale and agree that it was perfectly good, but not a stand out episode. I thought they were going to go for a shocking ending and have the space shuttle explode, thus killing Howard. It'd been a huge hit to the show since Howard is a main cast member, but it'd be something really surprising and have a huge impact on the show. But they just let him go to space. I'm assuming the season will start with Howard coming back from Space, similar to when the gang went to the North Pole at the end of one season and returned at the start of the next.

America's Got Talent started this past week. This is my third year watching this show and I enjoyed the first 2 nights greatly. I didn't see very many stand out acts, but the audition process just started. This year, Howard Stern joined as a judge. I had my reservations about Stern joining the cast, but he's been pretty good so far. He has a very quick wit to him and has some subtle yet hard insults.

I'd say both are even. Haven't caught up with Mad Men yet, but the episode where Joan dumps her husband was better than the 2nd episode GOT aired. And if we compare season premieres, I'd probably give the edge to Mad Men.

But it's a great thing that we have to see both series around the same time. :tu:

It'd be the same no matter which way you do it though, The books expand on the show, yeah.. but you're still gonna be reading, knowing what's going to happen if you've already watched it. I didn't enjoy the first book hardly, because I'd already watched the first season on TV but I am absolutely loving the rest of the books.

I'm still greatly enjoying the series, don't get me wrong.. the actors were well chosen and the characters are really being put together well on screen. But the fact that I know what's coming next is just a bit of a downer.

Best thing all week? The Incredible Hulk on Netflix.

The original 1978 series. The pilot episode and origin of the Hulk make a LOT more sense here than in any other incarnation. And the scene leading up to Banner Hulking out the first time is priceless; we've all had days like this poor bastard.

I have season one of that on DVD.

Best thing I watched was the last 4 episodes of Game of Thrones. I finally got caught up.

Is that on Netflix? I thought about giving it a shot. I heard good things. If I can find enough reasons to resubscribe, I'll join Netflix again.

Are you kidding?

I'll just give you the economics of it. Less than 9 bucks a month. You're a Star Trek fan. Not counting Enterprise, you've got 24 seasons of that saga. If bought on DVD, those would cost a total of upwards of $500.

To get to that cost, you would have to keep Netflix for a whopping FOUR YEARS. Simply having access to those shows for the next 4 years makes the cost woth subscribing.

Everything else you ever watch in that time is simply a bonus.

So there you go. Reason enough.

 True. I own DS9 and TOS, but nothing else as a whole.

Just trying to find some newer shows I haven't seen.

You've got more than me. I have the first 3 seasons of Voyager on DVD, but that's it. My only problem is that Netflix only has TOS in HD; all the rest are of pretty bad quality on my flatscreen. :(

Netflix has four of the best shows of all time in Friday Night Lights, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and Arrested Development. They also have Damages, Louie, Archer, and Terriers which are pretty good. They also have Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, and Battlestar Galactica which aren't very good shows, but are entertaining enough.

Find a way to watch the Wire though. It's the best show of all time.

Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, and Battlestar Galactica are all shows I love and own on DVD. The other shows you mentioned I do not watch. I saw season 1 of FNL. Arrested Development sucks balls.

I'm starting to watch Season 1 of The Wire. I find the storylines with the black people (see: Idris Elba and the drug dealers) more interesting to watch. In which season does the show really becomes great?

I agree with Mad Men being an excellent show. Season 1 and 4 are the best MM offers.

CRSHFBRCTN, who is your favorite character in Mad Men?

I can see we stand on different ends of the entertainment spectrum. I've been called a snob before, so I doubt we will see eye to eye on much.

I have actually been looooving this season of Mad Men and think it tops season four, and is coming damn close to topping season one as well.

Aw, damn. And here I thought we were friends!

I like them all except Enterprise. Even that is alright, except for about 90% of the episodes. My Top 20 Episodes list would have some from every series, quite frankly. Can't choose a favorite overall.

Enterprise was good when they ignored the overall storyline like the Temporal Cold War or the Xindi weapon. When they just had stand alone stories they were much much better.

The only thing that was ever good about Voyager were the episodes with Q or the Borg in them. And, those should not be reoccurring characters. Even 7 of 9 and her big boobs couldn't save that show.

I've watched up to episode 7 of Season 5. So far I'd put Season 5 behind 1 and 4, but definitely above 2 and 3. Maybe I don't think of Season 5 too highly since I finally started watching the entire show in February.

BTW Cybrus, as far as Big Bang Theory goes, I do think Season 5 might be the best season TBBT has ever done along with Season 2. The season finale isn't that shocking, but I think it was a more relaxed and cute ending that the show earned. Killing off Howard would have been crazy and shocking. But they're keeping him in space for a while. I was glad they didn't made (or reveal) Penny getting pregnant on the season finale, which was possible to see happening. On the other hand, they need to do something with Raj, who hasn't been developed like the rest of the characters.

The show is up until Season 7, but considering the success of the show and it being the most viewed comedy on CBS and even beats American Idol on viewership, I think it could end at 10 seasons like Friends.

That's exactly what I meant! :)

As far as Voyager, I must disagree. I liked a ton of stuff that didn't have much to do with anything. Like Chakotay getting brainwashed into "being racist". Or Janeway going Stone Cold in Equinox, leaving a scumbag to die. Things like that.

Get it. No excuse not to. It's cheaper than getting two films a week from a Redbox. It's cheap and convenient.

Unless you really are broke, and have no bank account/debit card. Then of course, you can't be doing it.

But no, I don't see The Wire available for streaming.

Have you finished the season of Mad Men yet, Driver? If so, did the final few episodes change your mind? I think it might be the best season yet.
