I'm sure all the gamers already know, but E3 is happening this week. Nintendo has my interest this year as they are set to reveal a lot of info about their Wii-U system, which I believe will released in November. I am sure they'll keep their motion controls, but I'm hoping we move back to a more traditional game style over all. Motion controls are kind of fun sometimes, but I find them frustrating and unneeded in most games. The Wii-U controller looks kind of large, but I think it'll be interesting to see how the tablet style controller will work...although, i'm sure I've read you can only use 1 of those tablet style remotes on the Wii-U and will use the current Wii remotes for multi-player games. And, of course, because I am a Zelda fan...I'm hoping they release something on the new Zelda game for the 3DS. I'm not sure if they'll release a new Zelda game this year, but I do expect the next Zelda game to be released as a handheld game on the 3DS system. I'm not really sure what's going on with XBox or Playstation. I'm really a Nintendo guy, so that's where my interest lay. I've read XBox is working on their next console (currently called XBox 720, I think), but I don't think they'll be releasing anything on that this year. I'm not sure how long PS3 has been out, but I'm sure PS4 will be out soon too with Wii-U and XBox jumping to their next consoles soon. |

Yeah I can't wait to hear what Nintendo has in store. Speaking of, they just released pics of a "traditional" controller. Spoiler: click to toggle When they first announced the Wii U I was screaming that they needed to create a new controller and not rely on the Wiimotes. Somebody heard me. |

Having the two thumbsticks above the buttons like that might need some getting use to.

I swear, I think he's saying "evil-lution" every time i hear that song. ![]() That controller looks more traditional, which makes me happy since it means it looks like Nintendo is going to rely less on motion controls. Like I said, motion controls are fun for some games, but should not be a requirement for every single game. Worst case scenario is that controller is just the new "Virtual Console" controller and nothing more. But I'm going to hold out hope that this is a sign of a more traditional gaming experience moving forward ![]() I have been wondering about the future of the Virtual Console though. Almost every game on the Wii is motion controlled. If they move away from motion controls, how would they go about adding Wii games to future consoles? It's not an issue right now since Nintendo goes with "1 generation backward compatibility". So you can still play your Wii games on your Wii-U (but not your gamecube games anymore). But I wonder how it'll work even after the next console after Wii-U. Of course, I could be wrong and motion controls may just never go away. Also, since GameCube games will no longer be playable on the Wii-U, I wonder if they'll start adding Game-cube games to the Virtual Console. It'll be great if they did. I still haven't played LOZ: Wind Waker. Really hope that gets added. Although, I have heard a rumor that Nintendo plans to release several older games in HD for the release of Wii-U. Well, I don't think that much is a rumor, I believe Nintendo has pretty much confirmed this. But the rumor is that Nintendo may release a HD collection of Zelda games. If true, I am hoping for a Wind Waker re-release

From what I saw of the demo, Watch Dogs looks like it would be a pretty awesome game.

The trailer for the ZombiU game looks good. It's something I plan on buying eventually. But looking at the Wii-U games that have been confirmed for release, I don't see very many titles that appeal to me yet. I really like the Wii-U controller, but I think i'll hold off until the Zelda Wii-U game is released before buying one. |

Don't hold your breath on ZombiU; Dead Island had an awesome trailer but the game was shit (my opinion at least). The Arkham City game for the Wii U looks amazing with the game pad. |

I have no interest in getting another console until 1-3 years after its original release (so until the console itself is cheaper and there are a handful of games I'm interested in playing), and so far the Wii-U is heading that direction. Most of its confirmed third party titles are games which are already out (Arkham City, Mass Effect 3) or will be out on other consoles before or at the same time as the Wii-U's release date (Tekken Tag 2, Assassin's Creed 3). As for its first party titles, there's nothing which would tempt me to even consider getting one. Wii U Fit does nothing for me, there's always a wario ware game released for every console/handheld Nintendo releases, and Pikmin 3 and New Super Mario Bros U are not enough to sell a console for me. I'm sure come the end of 2014, they'll finally have a few games which I'm really looking foward to (SSB4, New 3D Mario, new F-Zero if they ever get around to that). But right now, I'll stick with the normal Wii or PS3. |

With my PC and my Wii, I'm set for most part. Will be getting a Wii U, though probably not a first day buy. It's just the hand full of Sony first party or console only games that's out of my reach. |

Yeah, I'm the same with new console releases. I don't buy a new console for about a year or two after the initial release so that I have a good collection of games to choose from. And even then it'll take a really big game to get me to take the jump and buy one. To tell you the truth, I was disappointed with E3. Again, I only paid attention to Nintendo. I'm not saying anything about XBox or Playstation because I didn't pay attention to them. If they had great showings, then great for them. But Nintendo just seemed to half-ass this. They revealed the Wii-U, but it didn't seem that much different than last year. We saw a more polished up Wii-U this year, but we saw the graphic capabilities and even the Wii-U controller last year. Again, this was polished and refined, but still. They announced some games, but nothing that stood out as a "must have" game. I have read that Nintendo plans to release even bigger news next week or something, but I'm not sure why they are waiting and didn't do it at E3. So Nintendo really just felt like "Yeah....and?" this year. I knew they wouldn't release anything about Zelda on Wii-U. They just released Skyward Sword on Wii a few months ago (which I have beaten 3 times now and just remembered that I never finished my "lets play" thread), so I knew it was too expect anything about a new console game. But I was surprised they didn't release anything about a Zelda game on 3DS. They released Ocarina of Time on 3DS and I believe did Four Swords as well, but they haven't put anything new on that system. I was expecting something there. With Wii-U coming out in just a few months, I expect Nintendo to have some kind of big game in the works. I don't think another Super Mario Bros is going to cut it. Unless they are expecting the Nintendo fanboys to carry them through this holiday and buy a Wii-U just because it is a Wii-U and wait until next year to truly hype the system, then they need to get something out. |
