Once again, Punk is being too soft. He could've easily unloaded on Big SHow verbally there and... "I'm champion and you're not". Kind of meh. I kind of like Big Show's new character though. He's one of the few heels who's just depressed because he realizes his place and everyone else's in the company. |

And Rey Mysterio returns... a bit of an odd choice considering next week would've made it that much bigger, but cool non-the-less. |

Miz returns without a faux hawk? I approve. Does this mean the filming stage of the movie is over already? Was kind of wondering if they wanted to have Bryan turn face here, but the crowd was very mixed about the whole thing. If anything he might be a "Tweener" now, because while he does have some heel tendencies, he's got some support in the form of YES. Also, if some of you weren't on board with the idea that this storyline jumped the shark, there's no argument against that now that Bryan and AJ are engaged... seriously, wrestling weddings are where storylines go to die. ![]() So that's Ryback, huh? Pretty cool, though he totally messed up on his third powerbomb against Swagger. Probably just got too fatigued, but that's not my problem. Uhhh, how was that a match? The bell never rang and he basically just sent Swagger out of the ring. His music hits and that's the end? What the fuck? Edited by Cableguy15, Jul 17 2012, 02:19 AM.

I guess they didn't want to job out Swagger to Ryback, so instead they just made it a beat 'em up exhibition. |

STAY HYPED!!!
|
they mentioned Stone Cold a few times tonight and showed clips of him and Rock. I was hoping they'd announce Austin returning next week. I would think they'd hype his return if he was returning, so I have low expectations of him being on Raw next week. But I'm still holding out some hope. ![]() Raw seems to be in the same holding pattern it has been for the past month or so. They are obviously waiting until next week to do anything important. Everything that mattered this week was setting up next week. Oh, and I was expecting Rey to show up tonight. They had already listed him for SD! tapings this week, so I figured they'd have him pop up on Raw first. I think they had him return this week instead of next week just so he didn't get lost in the shuffle. You walk away from raw remembering Rey (and MIz) returned. Next week, we're going to see The Rock, HBK, Triple H (maybe other older DX members?), and other surprises. Names like Rey and Miz would not have been memorable compared. |

I absolutely loved the segment with Bryan and AJ. I really can't wait to see what happens at their wedding ceremony next week on Raw. Maybe CM Punk will ruin the celebration? Will a WWE Legend? They've got my attention for sure. |

If they know what's good for them, Stone Cold will be there. Maybe they haven't been hyping it, but it would just feel so wrong if he wasn't there when all the other Raw legends are going to be. He was THE reason to watch Raw for a time after all. So while you're crossing your fingers for an appearance, I'm expecting it to happen. What I'm crossing my fingers for is a confrontation with CM Punk.

Not gonna lie, this was the best Raw for a few weeks. Glad to see Miz and Rey back too. Firstly, heel Big Show is tons better on the mic than his last attempts, that opening segment with Punk showed how good of a story that could be if allowed to run, its just a shame that CM Punk would have been limited to what he would be able to say. Prime Time Players impressed me, but AW is as annoying as an itch that you can't reach. Solid tag match that really should have its own feud to try and elevate the titles and division to give a bit more exposure and prestige back to them. Nice to see Zack Ryder getting Raw time... to be a jobber again... but hey, Rey Rey makes the save... Time for Del Rio vs Rey for the 50th time. D-Bry and AJ intrigued me, it's always never gonna run smooth for a WWE wedding so I want to see what the pay off is... if any! As for the tag match... it was nice to see Eve and Miz on TV... for all 3 minutes... Ryback vs Swagger was forgettable, however, did set up a nice program for them. Swagger needs to do something, and this could put both guys over (even if Swagger loses all the matches). Rikishi returned! Yay! I genuinely marked out at the stink face too... I'm such a child. JTG hasn't been released? Nope... but Brodus almost killed him (This was worse than the Tim White storyline...) CM Punk vs Big Show was also a better match than I expected, and would be nice for the future, should anything happen to spark a feud. Oh, and Cena... coming out with his briefcase saying he wants to fight Punk when healthy... I would have paid excessive amounts of cash for Cena to cash in then and become a heel... shame... I left one key segment out of that, and it was Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler. I thought Ziggler was perfect on the mic against Jericho, and showed why he deserves to be in the main event scene. Vicky is just awful, but unfortunately, it comes as a package... Jericho's facial expressions to what Ziggler was saying was also brilliantly done, and set the stage for what could be a very very very good feud. It was beginning to remind me slightly of the Y2J/HBK feud from a few years back, but instead of Jericho playing the disrespect card to a legend... he is that legendary figure that the younger guy (Dolph) is saying is done. Both of them need to do something at the highest level and Jericho vs Ziggler would work perfectly as it will show how far Ziggler has come since the days of the caddy for Kerwin Guerrero (or was it Chavo White). This built it all up for next week perfectly, and really something WWE lacked recently. Granted, the shit was still in the middle of the show with Brodus and Ryback segments, however, didn't really deter from Raw being a rather good show. Here's to hoping that the Money in the Bank cash-in record finally is broken next week... |

So with the Miz and Rey Mysterio returning tonight I assume that means they're going to have a ton of returns and debuts next week. Also, not that this is anything new, but how fucking bad is the commentary? Jack Swagger gets in the ring and mother fucking Powerbombs mother fucking Ryback in like the first 10 seconds of the match and Cole and Lawler just brush by it. Ugh. |

From 2:40 and on. There's your reason for crap commentary. Storytelling is more important these days (ie. things of the past), than the story that's going on in the ring at that very moment. That's why Cole will never be better than JR, and JR himself has said that's the exact reason for it. King doesn't help either. He just hasn't been the same since the face turn. He used to be highly entertaining because he would go nuts over the heels and practically fantasize about them, so when he had nothing important to say it was forgiveable. But now when Cole feeds him lines, about 75% of the time it sounds like he's not sure what to say. You just reminded me though; also during the Brodus Clay vs JTG match, Cole was deliberately ignoring the action and talking about how John Cena had a big announcement later that night... couldn't he have waited for one of the segments where they just sit there tlaking anyway? Or hell, during the Brodus dance? Not his decision I'm sure, but still quite annoying. Edited by Cableguy15, Jul 18 2012, 04:16 AM.

At the end of Raw when Big Show was trying to goad Cena into using his MITB on a weakened Punk, did you notice Show talking about the WWE Title design? He called it "Cena's design...his spinner title". WWE never mentions title designs. Punk said in an interview a while back that a new belt was being made. I figure they are waiting for a big moment to change titles. Could it happen at the 1000 Raw? |

If Stone Cold's not there, there'll be hell to pay! I SAID HELL TO PAY BAH GAWD! I also hope Big Show doesn't just drop off the face of the Earth again after last Monday, because I like his new heel character. Once again they're building him up to be an unstoppable giant (With a new, depressing spin on things) and that's really what he was meant to be. Nobody should be beating him cleanly unless they're at the absolute top. |
