Took me a minute to connect the two. I was wondering why Brock would have anything to do with HBK. But it'd get to Triple H. Got it now! ![]() Didn't they say that "all" of DX would be in attendance? I wonder if New Age Outlaws, X Pac, or even Chyna will be in attendance? |

And Road Dogg is already under WWE contract since he does one of those Youtube shows with Josh Matthews. I know Billy Gunn had bad blood with WWE/Triple H a few years ago. I wonder if he burned that bridge or if he'll be there. I am STILL holding out hope for Stone Cold. I doubt it, since I think they'd hype it, but

I believe Punk and Cena both posted on Twitter their desire to have J.R. call their match, so I expect to see Ross in the booth for at least one match. But only if that match happens. I have my doubts that the match will happen at all. Seems too soon to actually cash that MITB in. |

I'm not sure if Road Warrior Animal is just speculating or if he leaked some of the script, but they better do something better with Austin than just have him Stun Slater. |

As far as the Slater storyline goes, I remember reading that it'll have a payoff this Monday. If it's that way, I don't think WWE would involve Slater with Austin. |

This match was so full of awesome. If WWE does something like this on RAW1000 I'll forgive them for Mae Young giving birth to a hand and the Katie Vick incident. |

If Jerry Lawler is accurate, then looks like you may get your wish. 30 people is a big number, so they must be having some kind of battle royal gimmick match planned. Right? |

I would also add the following question: why didn't Punk or Bryan questioned The Rock getting a title shot out of nowhere? Basically, Rock drops the title to Cena next year at WM XXIX. |

Yeah... for a wrestling show, not much wrestling actually happened. There was a lot of talking. Very awkward talking, but damn was this weak. Maybe my expectations were simply too high, but nothing really went the way I imagined it would go. I mean this show was three hours long and it felt like 2 hours of it were lame ass promos. What I hated: I hate that Edge wasn't there. He was a reason to watch Raw back in 2006 and he would've gone perfectly with Lita returning. I hate Tout. Stop wasting our precious fucking air-time with lame videos of fan reactions. That's what the internet's for, wwe. ;) I hate that Rey Mysterio only got to do one thing in the tag-team match. I hate the random inclusion of Charlie Sheen. Praying the idea of a feud with Daniel Bryan just goes away. If there is a GOD wwe will just forget about it. Pretend it never happened. I hate commercials in the middle of a match. Seriously, you barely aired any matches to begin with, and now I'm supposed to miss a bunch of the Intercontinental match which was actually pretty good? Fuck you wwe. I hate that the rock just randomly gets a title shot and nobody questions it. He's still only wrestled three matches in the past year and even CM Punk, a guy who's been vocal about how he doesn't like the Rock (Whether kayfabe or not) has absolutely nothing to say about that. I hate that John Cena got beaten up to the point where he was screaming before he barely edged out a win over Lesnar, but HHH is magically strong enough to kick his ass out of the ring and send him packing. A HHH, mind you, that they were trying to make seem like he's in the twilight of his career as well. I kind of thought he would beat up on DX as DL suggested, but it never happened. Pretty disappointing, but we'll see where this all goes soon enough. I hate that the final match of the night ended in a disqualification. Are you kidding me? This match should've lasted AT LEAST a half hour! And you don't end your biggest show in a long time with that bullshit. You just don't. That is the lamest possible cop-out, and they should know that better than anyone. Most of all, I hate how one of the key components to Raw's history wasn't there. Stone Cold was apparently off filming Grown Ups 2. It's totally not Austin's fault that the schedules conflicted, so I'll blame Adam Sandler for making a sequel to a movie, that, while decent, has no business needing a sequel. DAMN IT ALL What I liked: - Christian vs Miz was a good match. I hope they actually have a feud and give Christian, not Miz (Incredibly) an opportunity to build himself back up again. I say "Not Miz" because he's been impressive since the moment he came back. No rust whatsoever. I like Christian, but he just hasn't been the same since returning from tna. He's capable of more on the mic than just being a generic face character. We saw that just before he left from 2003 to 2005. - Lita returning and still looking great. She's been away for a while. but it is a shame Edge didn't show up. APA appearance, as well as the other legends was also pretty sweet. Poor Keith Slater stood no chance. - Supa Bros. of Destruction. That is all. - CM Punk's heel turn. I have to say, Punk was starting to get stale. More and more, he was turning into a generic face character with nothing but good things to say about other good guys, the exact opposite of CM Punk a year ago. I think he or creative forgot that he is not a hero, and he never will be. He's an anti-hero or a villain, and he's damn good at either of those things. So I am glad he'll be getting back to what he's good at soon enough, and hopefully just speaking his mind. What truly interested me was how the crowd still cheered for Punk even after taking out Rock. Yeah, not surprising with Cena, but after he clotheslined Rocky, they were still cheering. Strange... also, ther build-up to the turn was well-done. I was legitimately surprised that he went after Rock. All in all, the show was bad. I'm sorry, but I think wwe forgot about the "Wrestling" part of wwe. If every three hour show is going to be like this or even worse, you can count me out. They made no effort to establish newer talent talent tonight, and yeah, a big part of this was about the older guys, but shit, you didn't need to spend a half hour on the DX segment, as nice as it was to see them back together again. A little time management could've went a long way here. Edited by Cableguy15, Jul 24 2012, 04:13 AM.

No Stone Cold was disappointing. Everyone knows how huge of an Austin mark I am. Yes, more so than my fellow Austin marks here. But like I have been saying all week, I expected it since they didn't hype Austin at all. And when they gave us that Austin video package, I knew Austin wasn't showing up and gave up what little hope of a surprise I had. Disappointing that no Austin, but not a major complaint. Just a disappointment. The fist DX reunion in a decade was fun, but everyone in the ring looked so old and out of shape, except Triple H. It was weird seeing Triple H and Billy Gunn hugging so much considering what Gunn has said about Triple H since leaving WWE. Considering how unimportant Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, and X Pac are to WWE, I was very surprised that they didn't go with Brock destroying DX all night long. It could have been good with Lesnar taking them all out and then seeing HBK saying he knows what's going on, calling Brock out, putting Brock over, and having Triple H make the save. Instead, we got Triple H and Stephanie goading Paul Heyman into accepting the SummerSlam match for Brock and then Triple H getting the better of Brock in their brawl. It wasn't terrible. I mean, neither guy walked away looking superior or inferior. But considering Brock just lost to Cena and Triple H is teflon in WWE, I would have liked to see Brock looking very strong going into SummerSlam. Rock getting a title match at Royal Rumble makes no sense, but if that's the catalyst for Punk's heel turn then I'm ok with it. Punk turning on Rock was a great moment and probably the only way to turn him. He sure as hell couldn't turn on Cena since that's what turned him face in the first place. But with Punk turning heel, I think they'll extend his title reign even longer (read my Longer Title Reigns thread, assholes!). I am also holding out hope that THIS will be the reason we get a new WWE Title. Big Show did point out last week that the current belt is Cena's belt. Now that Punk is heel, he can trash that belt and introduce a new one. And then he can start tearing into Rock for getting an undeserved Title shot just because he is "The Rock". Definitely should be a great move for Punk going forward. This Raw was good just for nostalgia and seeing all the legends for one night (UNDER-FUCKING-TAKER!!!!). But I don't see how WWE can do 3 hours of Raw every week. This is going to drag and soon. |

APA, good to see that they were brought back, but damn I wanted to see more from the WRESTLING....GOD. AJ as Raw GM? I'm okay with this I guess, but what about Smackdown? Holy shit I hate social networking, and that's not even the loner in me! STOP TRYING TO MAKE TOUT A THING! |

WWE hyped a new GM, DX Reunion, Brock/Triple H, and the AJ/Bryan wedding. They only hyped 1 match in Punk vs Cena. How can anyone expect a night of wrestling this week is beyond me. I think it was obvious going into the show that this week was not going to be about wrestling matches. |

I'm not sure how anything CM Punk did made him a heel. The only thing was Lawler saying he turned his back on the WWE Universe. For hitting the Rock with a clothesline? Really? Is Cena a heel? Didn't the Rock establish that he was going to face the WWE champ at RR? That means he is going to try and take Punks title. Punk made a statement. How is he a heel now? |
![]() |
|
| Cableguy15 | Jul 25 2012, 04:18 AM Post #26 |

Punk displayed heel-like tendencies out there when Big Show was attacking Cena, so I assumed it was a heel turn, or at least the beginnings of one. Wouldn't mind if he just went "Tweener" though and did what he was doing around this time last year. He couldn't keep going down the same path he's been going though, that's for damn sure. Like I said, he was getting stale. I'll be interested in what his explanation is; likely what we've been saying. Why does Rock get a title shot for no apprent reason? Perhaps this served as a reminder to why he originally threatened to leave wwe. "The soul crushing status quo" as he put it. |

This wasn't a full-blown Stone Cold/McMahon WrestleMania X7 heel turn, but it was likely the start of one. They'll either go full bore with it next week or slow build it and have it culminate at SummerSlam. |

From what I can tell, you are in the overall minority here...at least when it pertains to this week. All the online reports I've read, even in-attendance reports, and all the fans I know in real life all talk about how good this week's Raw was.

You could tell from the build up of the show that there would be very little wrestling. It was all about appearances and Legends returning, not about putting on some mega wrestling card. Most of the people they brought back aren't in ring shape, so having wrestling around them would be pointless. It was a celebration for 1000 shows. |
