LIVE ON RAW: WILL PUNK REVEAL HEYMAN ALLIANCE?

After attacking John Cena and seemingly aligning with Paul Heyman, will WWE Champion CM Punk explain his actions on Raw, days before Night of Champions? Plus, what will unfold when a guest WWE Hall of Famer returns to the city that played host to one of the most infamous incident in history?

Not watching Raw. But the thing with Lawler collapsing is legit, right?

Michael Cole announced that Jerry Lawler was being given CPR backstage and his medical issue was "not part of tonight's entertainment."

Lawler was rushed to a local hospital as quickly as EMTs could move him. 7-10 EMTs and WWE staffers rushed an unconscious Lawler out of the Arena after he collapsed while calling a tag bout during Raw.

At 10:40 PM, Michael Cole announced that Lawler was breathing on his own and was being treated at a local Montreal hospital. Cole did not give further information on Lawler's condition, noting that he was receiving oxygen but could breath on his own. Cole then announced that WWE would not continue to provide commentary out of respect for Lawler. He hoped they would give an update before the show went off the air tonight.

At 10:55 PM, Michael Cole returned to the air to note that they have been given a report which he "hoped was encouraging" that Lawler was more responsive and was reacting to stimuli. He was waiting to get a CT Scan done and has been placed in an "isolated emergency room."

11:37 PM - According to my friend Jeremy Prophet who was backstage at RAW, Jerry was clinically dead for 20 min before being brought back by defibrilat.

12:05 AM - It has been confirmed that Jerry did suffer a heart attack tonight

Hope King recovers from this. Damn, wrestlers get the worst of it when it comes to medical issues. :(

As for the show, I thought it was pretty solid. Very happy to see Bryan and Kane form a tag team. The last segment was incredibly puzzling to me though. Cena basically kissed the crowd and Bret Hart's ass, thus getting the crowd on his side. I understood that and why it happened. So there'd be no mistake about who the hated guy is supposed to be here. It's this thing where he talks about Punk going through phases and he basically calls him out on it... you mean like every other wrestler EVER, John? Including yourself? Or are rappers and marines the same in your book?

I mean, what it boils down to is Cena attacking Punk's sudden rise in popularity of 2011. But why even bring that up? He's just reminding people that Punk is capable of something which, quite frankly, is better than anything he ever came up with in terms of character. Normally, I can tolerate Cena's heroic speeches and even enjoy them from time to time. But this one just got to me. We're talking about a guy who gets booed out of the building sometimes and yet never, ever changes a thing about what he does. Any other wrestler? They'd have to reinvent themselves. John Cena comes out and does the same thing every night and it's no problem because he's got great merchendise sales, and because he can lead a match well. And he's got a problem with someone who changes what they do? Willingly, even? I don't care if it IS a storyline, it just reminds me of why I originally despised Cena back in the day. The fact that he would use something so cheap, so common in wrestling is just an insult to my intelligence as far as I'm concerned.

Also, nice to see the Hitman tonight. :D

This seems hard to believe for me. If he was dead for 20 minutes, then that means no blood was flowing to his brain. Wouldn't he suffer major brain damage if he had no oxygen to his brain for that extended period of time? I'm sure I remember a story about a woman being completely brain dead after just 5 minutes of no oxygen to her brain.

Terrible news about Jerry, but it's good that he is stable and will most likely make a full recovery. This could have turned out to be a very sad story instead of just a big scare.

My friend actually texted me around midnight while I was at work and I honestly still wouldn't have known about it now if it wasn't for that. I was watching the video and now I'm watching the show, the one thing I need to comment on is the absolute professionalism of Cole throughout the entire thing. He was able to get through the rest of that match, and through the next match.

My only question is what was the announcement that was made on TV? I'm watching the full show online and it's from Sky Sports, obviously overseas. Cole makes a comment about how if you notice King hasn't been commentating and was brought for CPR, but the announcement video I found online has him mentioning how he was taken to the hospital and how there will be no further commentary for the night. And the match after the announcement on Sky Sports had no commentary, so was there some sort of difference when it comes to what was aired? It's a bit confusing.

Edit: Actually what was labeled as the "first" announcement video online is actually the second one. So forget that.

Oh and if you couldn't figure it out I give such a little shit about wrestling that this will literally be the only thing that will make me watch.

It happened during the tag team match. If you listen to the commentary, you can actually hear Cole say "King? King? He isn't breathing", but it's low. You could tell Cole was shaken up as he continued calling the match and the match or two after it. But then he came on and informed the viewing audience that jerry did collapse and was being treated. He stressed that this was not a storyline and it was real. He said from that point forward, out of respect for Jerry, there would be no more commentary for the remainder of the show. Cole would come back for updates to keep the viewing audience informed on Jerry's progress.

As I said in the "Jerry Lawler Health Thread", I cannot even begin to imagine what Cole was going through. These guys feud on screen, but they have to be close friends in real life. They spend too much time together to not be close. So for Cole to watch Jerry collapse, see him not breathing, see him carried away, and still be expected to continue his own job...I cannot imagine what he was feeling or even thinking. And I don't know if he was actually expected to continue his job or if he just did it out of professionalism. And then even after Cole announced there would be no more commentary, he returned several more times to update the audience on Jerry's health. My respect for Cole went way up for the way he handled this entire night.

Similarly, like I said in the above mentioned thread, I don't know how the wrestlers continued performing...especially the guys in the ring when it happened. You know they had to notice the people surrounding Lawler (there is a video of it, but I choose not to post it), and they had to notice him being carried out. They had to notice Cole's reaction, which was a dead give away that something was seriously wrong. How they managed to continue working...I wouldn't have been able to. I'd have stopped and ran to Lawler to see what was up. And all the competitors that came out after this. If the report is true and Jerry was actually dead for 20 minutes, those guys were going out thinking Jerry had died. It takes me back to Owen Hart again in that I don't see how those guys could possibly go out and do their jobs with everything going on. And I don't think they are callous for that. On the contrary. I think it shows a great deal of professionalism and dedication to continue working in that kind of situation. All those fans in attendance, the millions watching...to put all them ahead of their own feelings towards Jerry was nothing short of amazing to me.
