Current state of the Tag Team division

So we have the current Tag Team Champions Hell No, Kane and D-Bry, and it looks like there's a new team in the form of Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow, Rhodes Scholars.

It looks like maybe the WWE is trying to at least make the division temporary relevant again, or just feed a new team to Hell No.

What are your thoughts?

I recall some article saying that HHH was trying to reinvigorate the tag-team division. I also know that he has been doing work with NXT, and I've heard those shows have turned out great. I'm seeing a short, but hopefully developing pattern here... maybe wwe should give HHH even more room to work on new things?

In NXT the big tag team is The Ascension, consisting of Connor O'Brian and Kenneth Cameron. O'Brian was the "rat man" from an earlier season of NXT  so he needed to do a 180 degree turn with The Ascension.

There have been rumors of WWE revamping the Tag Division since Air Boom first started a year or so ago. Each time those rumors start, WWE would show how irrelevant their Tag Division is. WWE actually does have a few tag teams at the moment. We have the Uso Brothers, Prime Time Players, Epico/Primo, R-Truth and Kofi (are they still a team?), Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel (who are apparently teaming again, as seen on SD! this week). And on top of that, we have the newly formed teams of Kane/D-Bry (thanks for that DL!) and Rhodes/Sandow.

The problem is even with this list of teams, WWE doesn't really have a tag team division. They never do anything with any of these teams. Mostly, these teams appear on Saturday morning shows and only appear on Raw/SD! once or twice a year (it seems). So until WWE actually uses their tag teams, I am hesitant to believe WWE is getting into Tag Team wrestling again.

Currently, I see this all as a way of continuing Kane/D-Bry more than it is about the tag division. Rhodes/Sandow is teaming only to feud with Kane/D-Bry, not to form a real tag team (I am thinking). When Kane/D-Bry drop the titles, if any of these teams continue to be showcased, then I'll start to believe. But I do not believe at this point in time.

I just hate the fact that the WWE doesn't have any legit tag teams. Most of the teams in this "division" seem very random and thrown together. And, those are the type of tag teams I hate. With the exception of the Usos, the WWE never has tag teams that feel like true tag teams. If you can even understand what I'm trying to say.

I think Epico/Primo and Prime Time Players have a legit tag team feel to them. But teams like Kane/D-Bry, Rhodes/Sandow, Air Boom, etc just feel like 2 single guys teaming up only temporarily...because they usually are.

- Per a huge announcement by SmackDown General Manager Booker T, Kane and Daniel Bryan will defend the WWE Tag Team Championship on Oct. 28 at Hell in a Cell against the winners of an eight-team tournament.

The bracket revealed on SmackDown showed the following first-round match-ups: Team Rhodes Scholars (Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow) vs. Jimmy and Jey Uso; Santino Marella and Zack Ryder vs. Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd; Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs. The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O’Neil); and Epico and Primo vs. Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara.
