Dark Match:

* Johnny Curtis beat Michael McGillicutty with a top rope leg drop.

SmackDown, Airing Friday:

* Big Show opens SmackDown and he's not happy. He wants the World Heavyweight Title. Randy Orton comes out and hypes their match tonight. Ricardo Rodriguez and Alberto Del Rio are out next. Del Rio says he's the one who should get the next title shot. Orton ended up hitting a RKO on Del Rio and facing off with Show.

* Antonio Cesaro defeated Santino Marella with the United States Title on the line.

* Beth Phoenix beat Natalya.

* Eve Torres comes out and announces that Beth Phoenix is suspended while the Kaitlyn attack from Night of Champions is investigated. Booker T comes out and reverses the suspension. Eve blames everything on Teddy Long and storms off.

* Wade Barrett beat Zack Ryder.

* The Miz comes out for another MizTV segment. His guest is Sheamus but they're interrupted by Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero. They end up fighting and Sheamus cleans house.

* Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow defeated The Usos.

* Ryback squashed Tensai.

* Randy Orton vs. Big Show is up next. Alberto Del Rio attacks Orton as he's making his entrance.

Reading that sentence just pissed me off. I'm so sick of him being around the belt. Just go away for a while. He and Orton can fight, just stay out of the World title storyline.

On that note, I'm also sick of Sheamus not doing much as champion. I think either Big Show should take him out, or some kind of interesting storyline needs to develop from their match, because Del Rio is not the only stale guy in the main event right now.

It is just about time for Ziggler to cash in his MITB. They usually do it between the end of the year and Rumble window. I know there aren't many people here that see Ziggler as World Champion (myself included), but if it gets us out of this monotone of Sheamus vs Del Rio, then I'm ready for Ziggler to cash in. Maybe after the HIAC match? Or are they setting up a multi-man HIAC match?

At least Cesaro is constantly defending the US title.

Too bad it's been against Santino.

The WWE website is playing up footage that was taped after the conclusion of Friday's Smackdown television show involving Alberto Del Rio attacking Randy Orton. You can view the footage at WWE.com/shows/smackdown/2012-09-28/alberto-del-rio-attacks-randy-orton.

Powell's POV: This will likely be used to explain why Orton is away while he is shooting the "12 Rounds" sequel. Thanks to Dot Net reader Justin Lopex for passing along the info.

I guess this explains why they haven't done anything with Orton since he returned. No reason giving him a big role if he is just leaving TV again to film a movie. But I don't think he'll be gone any longer than a month. Miz wasn't, was he?
