STAY HYPED!!!
I know I'm like 8 years behind this one. I remember hearing how great the show "Lost" was. I remember several of the radio stations talking about the show each week. I remember friends I knew both online and in real life talking about the show. But I always avoided it. I never had any reason for avoiding the show, I just never sat down to watch it. And then by a few years into it, I simply did not want start watching a show so far into its life cycle.

Fast forward to today. Actually, a few days back. I was looking through Netflix and noticed "Lost" was one of the recommended shows. It was shown as a similar show to something else I had watched. I noticed the show was on "Instant Streaming" so I added to my queue and signed out. I was off work Wednesday night and decided to watch some Netflix shows. Decided to give Lost a try, see if it was as good as it used to be hyped. I watched the first episode and was hooked. I sat and watched the first 3 episodes back-to-back-to-back. I would continue watching, but I don't want to burn myself out on the show. So I decided three was enough and have put the show on hold for another day.

But, man, this show is starting out great. I have no idea what Kate was arrested for. I have no idea what is making those strange noises in the jungle. I don't expect them to be rescued until at the very end of the first season...even then. It looks like they are already building a love relationship with Kate and Jack. And there is going to be some kind of power struggle with a possible faction split...I can feel it.

But, yeah, I know this show has already aired completely. I ask people that have seen the show to not spoil it for me. If I have any questions, maybe they can be answered without spoilers. Right now, I only have 1 question. Does this show have a proper ending or did it get cut off awkwardly like a lot of other shows. As popular as this show was, I am thinking they had a proper finale.

The writers claimed for years that they had the entire thing mapped out and that they had a very specific end date in mind. The network was kind enough to give them all the time that they requested. Does it end the way they intended? Yes. Does it end awkwardly? You bet your ass. Over the next six seasons they will lay out all kinds of mysteries and questions for the audience that they have no intention of answering. They leave about 80% of it open ended with no proper explanation. The characters get a fulfilling ending, but all the backstory and interesting things they introduce do not get resolved. I loved this show for 6 and a half seasons. It was my absolute favorite show and I bought the DVDs and the BluRays, I watched it live every week even though I hated commercials. After the finale I sold my collection and will never watch it again. It's a fun ride, but the ending absolutely kills the whole thing if you care at all about proper resolution.

It's one big long con, which is an ironic reference you will get later. :)

Kinda why I haven't started watching yet.

But I'm not falling behind Cybrus, so I'm forced to watch now

Well, that's disappointing. :(

Yes! Start watching and we can do an episode by episode discussion as we talk about what happened, what we think could happen, and vow not to look up spoilers or skip ahead of our episode schedule. It'll be like a book club, only with a TV show instead. It'll be a Netflix club!

So I watched the first three episodes, I hope there's more to the scarface guy, wonder what's the deal with Kate, and polar bears? Damn.

And seriously, shooting him in the heart? GO FOR THE HEADSHOT!

Makes you wonder how Jack killed him though, huh? I'm assuming he just broke his neck, but I wonder how many ways the good doctor knows to kill a person.

I am currently watching episode 10 as I am typing this. Hmm, don't want to spoil anything for you, my friend, so I won't comment on any of the cool stuff I've seen. I have noticed that each episode tells the story of a island member. Do they end up telling all the stories or does this stop after the main cast have been told?

Season one is all about telling the stories of the cast in flashbacks as well as island secrets being teased.

Episode 8, about time we had a Sawyer episode.

10 episodes in, not bad at all, can't wait to get to the good stuff about the island.

I was watching episode 10, but found myself zoning out and playing online instead...so I turned it off. I believe this was the third episode in a row I had watched (maybe 4th in a row) and was burned out attention wise. I think I am going to skip a day or two of viewing just so I don't burn out on the series.

I like the show so far, but I have noticed that each episode is very similar. They all tell a background story of a cast member, so the set up of each episode is the same. It starts with the focal member, shows a little about their past, shows some of the current island stuff, more of that person, more island stuff, more backstory. I am not complaining, it's still a great show, I'm just noticing that many of the episodes feel the same in set up (but not necessarily in story). If I am understanding Purple Marauder correctly, this should switch up a little after the first season.

Not really. The flashback thing continues through out most of the show, but in slightly different forms.

Yeah, the flashback is a staple of the show, just season 1 is about "back story" for the characters.

My TV viewing schedule is surprisingly open. I thought I had a lot of shows to watch, but that's not the case at all. Monday I have the most shows (Raw, HIMYM, Mike & Molly, Revolution), Tuesday I only have one show (Go On), Wednesday I only have one show (Law & Order: SVU), Thursday 2 shows (Big Bang, Impact) and Friday one show (Smackdown). That's it. I need more shows to fill my time....hence Lost marathon viewings!

There is a lot it doesn't answer. A LOT. I mean, a whole fucking lot of stuff.

This show had a massive cult following. The creators said they had everything mapped out. They even had the balls to say that they had a scientific explanation for everything. False. False. False. I seriously don't mean to troll this thread, but I almost broke my television when the finale for it aired. My heart still weeps.

I was off work Wednesday night. I had watched the first 9 episodes but zoned out when watching the 10th (as I said above). I started watching the episode over and just got completely lost up in the storyline. I ended up watching episodes 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 consecutively. And I still wanted to watch more. I only stopped because I had to work Thursday night and had to go to sleep. I have decided, though, to only watch Lost on my nights off. I dunno if it's possible for me to get burned out, but I think there is less of a chance if I skip days in between viewings. Plus, it'll allow me to sit and watch multiple episodes in a row...which I like.

So far, Locke is my favorite character. Hurley is my second favorite. Sawyer is my third favorite. I was glad that each of these guys got another "flashback" episode for them. I am liking Kate a lot as well. I do have a few question about the characters, if you guys wouldn't mind answering. If the answers are given later in the series, please tell me to keep watching and don't actually spoil it.

1) Boone and Shannon are brother/sister, right? Only by half, right? Same mom, different dad? Or are they step bro/sis? I am pretty sure they hooked up in their flachback episode, that's how I interpreted it. Seems a bit odd if they are half bro/sis, but maybe they are only step bro/sis, which is ok.

2) Sawyer killed the man he thought was responsible for his dad killing his mom then himself. But when Sawyer shot that guy, he seemed like he didn't know what Sawyer was talking about. He said he owed the other guy (forgot his name) money. So did Sawyer kill the right guy or was he set up just to kill that guy?

3) Locke was in a wheelchair before the crash. In the last episode I saw, Locke's legs were starting to go out. There is no question here. I want to find out myself if his legs go out without anyone spoiling. I hope they don't. But I am definitely feeling some kind of split looming on the horizon. Locke is being very secretive about that steel thing he and Boone found and didn't say anything about the plane they found. If there is a split, and there has to be a split coming, then Locke is definitely going to be on one end of the split. I'm guessing Jack is the other group leader, just because he is the leader of the group now.

4) The main reason I decided to give Lost a watching is because of Hurley. The guy that plays Hurley also played a character named Hector on Becker. I've known he was on both shows for years. I have watched Becker lots. He is the character that convinced me to watch Lost. I really liked his flashback episode. It's crazy that he's worth so much $$$. I hope he is the focus of more episodes.

5) I find myself really not liking Micheal too much. I don't like the way he treats Walt and he doesn't really do a great job of interacting with his fellow islanders. He seems like he's always a flared temper away from trying to be a bully/thug character. Each time there is a fight with him in it, I am begging the other guy to kick Michael's ass. I really thought Jin was going to stand up to him, since he seemed to be working for the mob. But he just let Michael punch him repeatedly.

6) Poor Sun. She goes to leave Jin, realizes she loves him, stays, gets on the flight, crashes, and has to hide the fact that she knows English. She reveals it saving Jin and loses her husband. I am hoping these two get back together or she finds new love on the island. Just as long as it's not with Michael, that is. She did look damn good in that bikini though.

7) The island seems to have some odd magic to it (for lack of a better term). The compass is off. Locke had a dream showing him the plan and telling him about Boone's babysitter that fell down the stairs. I wonder if this is one of the things that CRSHFBRCTN says isn't fully explained. Don't tell me, CRSHFBRCTN! lol. You merely have me looking for things that may not end up being explained.

8) Similar to my previous point, when Locke attacked Boone and then smeared that paste on his head to "treat his wound", I knew that was spiked with something. As soon as it Shannon was shown "tied up" as well, I said to myself "this is all in his head!". But even knowing it beforehand, I found myself going "Oh, this shit better not be real" when Shannon died during that hallucination. I like Shannon..mostly because she shows herself in a bikini too! Not sure what to make of her romance with Sayid though. I like Sayid too.

I see DL is ahead of me a bit. I didn't read his post above because I don't wanna know any spoilers.

Yeah it's clear that the island is supernatural, the dreams, the voices, that crazy lady.

I don't see Micheal as a bully, like everyone else he was going through some personal issues because of that kid being dropped in his lap and now he has to be an overprotective father. Jin attacked Micheal over a misunderstanding, fuck Jin on that part.

And fuck Jin for his pride! Just reconcile with her

We've seen people die on this show already. But none of the main cast characters have died yet. I am hoping Michael is the first main cast member to die. Maybe he'll drown when they put that raft into the ocean. :crossfingers:

I won't be watching again until Sunday night, and I plan to finish the first season. I am assuming that both major storylines will come to a head on the finale. That somehow Locke will open that hatch and Michael will put the raft into the ocean.

It's not like I'm wanting Walt to watch. In my mind, Walt gets adopted by Locke and Locke raises Walt to be the man he should be. Hell, it's not like Walt and Michael have a strong relationship. Walt has known Locke for as long as he's known Michael...he just likes Locke more.

I see this happening too; Locke's talk with Boone shows how much he is a man of faith (at least when it concerns the island) while Jack is clearly a man of science, facts, proof, etc.
