- The official WWE website is no longer advertising John Cena for Raw tomorrow at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He appeared with his arm in a sling on last week's show after undergoing surgery on Sept. 18 to remove bone chips in his elbow. The prognosis for his recovery was announced as six to eight weeks.

So Ryback is probably Punk's back up opponent after all. Also, was ind of pissed; they were building up a Stone Cold appearance and it didn't happen.

Liking the new tag team feel of the show.

i loved how Punk stood in the ring giving Ryback a solid "what the hell" look, not showing any fear or intimidation. I was begging for Punk to kick his ass. I knew it wasn't going to happen, but I wanted it so bad. "Kick his ass, Punk" and "destroy him, Punk" were basically my mantras for that segment. But Punk just walked away.

that entire segment was gold, though. I knew the J.R. Appreciation segment was going to go bad for J.R., since they always do. But this is the best you could hope for. This was the best segment of the entire show and it was simply gold. Both Punk and J.R. were great in their roles.

I still think they are over using Punk, though. He was in 3 segments again this week. I didn't think he needed to be in that clusterfuck of an opener. They should have just used him for the J.R. segment and the match. But I wonder if the hopeful match with Stone Cold is still on. Punk mentioned Austin again tonight. It could have just been to capitalize on the "316" day title reign, or it could have been a seed for their (very hopeful) match. Unlike my fellow Austin mark, cableguy, I am glad Austin didn't show up this week. It would have made very little storyline sense for Austin to show up and save the day. Why would he be there? How would Austin have known that Punk would intimidate J.R.? And you can't say Austin would have been there for J.R. Appreciation night, because if that was the plan WWE would have hyped Austin. But by having Punk basically punk out Austin and J.R. tonight, it build anticipation for seeing Austin and Punk in the ring together. I actually wish Punk would have laid into Austin even more by saying he's a better champion than Austin or something.

I could've sworn they were building up a surprise guest, so I figured who else could it be besides Austin? As for Punk being overused, I don't see why they don't just have Paul Heyman fill in where needed? In fact, that's what they did for Brock Lesnar.

Every WWE champ gets used that way. That is one of the reasons Cena got hated so quickly...one of them.

The Man. Any Questions?
You cannot overuse the WWE Champion. He should have multiple segments, he should have his hands on nearly everything that goes on, almost everything that happens on a show should at least indirectly revolve around him. The WWE Champion is the star, he's the focus.

That's the whole point Punk's character has been trying to get across for months now.

Yeah, didn't they use to do that years ago? I mean the Attitude Era; the WWE Champion and the number 1 contender(s) was in nearly every other segment.

And as a matter of fact, CM Punk is why I watch the show for the most part so I have no problem with all the segments he's in.

On another note, I hate how everyone gives him the same old answer to his pleas:

"You may be wwe champion, but you have to earn respect, not demand it."

Now I realize this is storyline related, but all of it is wrong as far as reality goes. CM Punk has had numerous succesful gimmicks as face, heel, and tweener, and several engaging storylines to go along with many great matches. Needless to say, he has likely earned tons of respect in the actual world of wrestling. He, like Daniel Bryan, is the guy who started all the way at the bottom and absolutely earned his way to the top. CM Punk's real-life lack of respect is because wwe has no desire to even see if someone could replace John Cena as the face of the company. So he's always in the background, regardless of what title he has, compared to Cena. Or at least, that's my guess. The startling statistic of him not main eventing one single ppv since he had been champion up until his most recent match with Cena is a pretty good testament to my guess.

It's just so frustrating how they're taking something that's actually happening in real life and twisting it around so it's no longer the promoter's fault for misusing him. Like I said, I know it's a storyline, but much like how Cena criticized Punk on national tv for having multiple gimmicks in his career (Something EVERY WRESTLER DOES for fuck's sake!), it feels like an insult to my intelligence when they say that respect needs to be earned, when in fact it already has been. Anything that Punk, or anyone not named Cena as the champ tries to do is futile, because the face of the company, not the championship, is the apparent focus of the show.

Of course you can. You can overexpose and overuse anything. I have enjoyed Punk over the last 2 weeks, but the old saying...too much of a good thing...you know? Punk is excellent in his role and has had the best segment with Foley 2 weeks ago and JR this week. But when you are using the guy 3 times per week (once per hour, literally) then you start running the risk of running thin on future storylines. You know? I'm running under the assumption that they'll keep the belt on Punk until he faces Rock at Royal Rumble. Well, that's 3 months of TV to go..plus however long it takes for Rock to come in 2013 to start the Rumble storylines.

Even storyline wise, it makes very little sense. Punk has been the WWE Champion for 10 months. He's almost at a calendar year as Champion. How long has it been since we have seen a championship reign last this long? And he's beaten everyone that he's faced, including Cena multiple times. And each month they come out and say "you cannot demand respect, you earn it. And you'll only earn if if you beat Cena at (PPV)". He just beat him at the last PPV. And a PPV before that. And a PPV before that. I know he won by default with a double pin, but 1) they aren't making a big deal out of that, and 2) the casual fan doesn't give a damn how someone ones only that they won.

They could have done it much simpler. Punk only became "heel" by doing shitty things like assaulting Lawler. Right from the start, it should not have been "earn respect". If they'd just remind him "you HAD respect, until you did..." blahblah, it would be a lot more effective. Or make clear that they respect him, but not his actions.

But for some reason, they seem to ignore his entire face run, and act like his character's always been a bitchy prick.
