I've always wondered that about the on-ship communications. It'd be like people at, say, Walmart conducting conversations over the intercom. I guess privacy isn't a concern in the 24th century. |

The Man. Any Questions?
|
If I may offer some advice... Well, even if I may not, I will anyway, because I'm an asshole. You all already knew that. Watch DS9, and VOY. But do NOT do it a sereis at a time. Do it like we did when they were on: by airdate. DS9 aired while TNG and, later, VOY were also on tv. Watch them as such. You'll wind up alternating an episode of DS9 season 3, an episode of VOY season 1, and so on. This way, you won't get burnt out on one series as fast, plus you'll also be experiencing the timeline the way it was originally presented. As in, you won't be watching VOY and hearing "Maquis", and going, "what the fuck? they haven't been around for years!". If you watch them whole series at a time, you'll get that sort of thing. Don't do it, for a better experience. Edited by SRP76, Jun 10 2013, 11:48 PM.

I've been taking a break just because of how burnt out I got and I was on the first few episodes of DS9. ![]() I was debating that method of viewing when I got to the end of TNG since, as you more or less said, it'd make the whole experience a lot more sensical. The only problem is that it's a bit more tedious to do that and it feels like I'd be more likely to lose track of the plots altogether with having to keep both shows multitude of plots in order mentally. Still, I will definitely re-consider that approach whenever I get back into my run-through. It might make DS9 a little easier to get through, too. |

I'm not going to lie, I was like "Are they seriously using the Maquis angle on VOY?" But it all made sense once I understood what was happening

How are you watching? If you're doing this on Netflix streamingor buying the seasons on DVD, it won't be tedious to alternate. If you're trying to watch as it comes on DirecTV or whatever, that's another story. |

Netflix. It won't be too tedious to jump to another series, but it's a lot more tedious than just letting it auto-play and remembering to move the mouse a little every so often.

Every single time they have a scene where the Enterprise is hit and everything shakes, I think about the reality behind it and how they're basically just wiggling in their spots. Every. Single. Time.

Even with me taking a break, I think I've watched entirely too much Star Trek over the last few months. I had a dream last night that I was being"randomly" sent back into time to the 1700s and the present day of the same city as shit started going crazy in each city. I was baffled until at around the halfway point, I found out who was responsible for my time travel when he showed his face - Q. ![]() After that both timelines began to bleed together, with airplanes coming down in flames into the past when one hit the ground in a fireball and rolled over me. A moment later, I was standing in the wreckage amidst the flames while Q went on one of his talks talking about being reborn, the phoenix, etc. Long story short, I was apparently a Q and this was my awakening. And all this timeline nonsense was my initiation. I undid it all, returned to the present day, nobody had any idea it happened and off I was to continue my trails with the Q Continuum. Fucking horror themed dream turned hella nerdy out of nowhere.

Just got Netflix back, so I've started watching all the series again, too. Not in order, just randomly selecting episodes here and there. Watched VOY Message in a Bottle earler; I had forgotten how hilarious that episode is. |
