Finally, there is some news on the Y: The Last Man movie. Superherohype is reporting that “ New Line Cinema has hired commercials director Dan Trachtenberg to helm their upcoming adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra's modern classic Y: The Last Man”.

Trachtenberg is a commercial director known for his fan film Portal: No Escape (2011). The screenplay is being penned by Matthew Federman (Jericho, Human Target) and Stephen Scaia (Warehouse 13, Jericho).

Y: The Last Man Synopsis: Y: The Last Man tells the story of Yorick Brown, a young man who, along with his capuchin monkey, somehow survives a catastrophic event that kills off every living creature with a Y chromosome. Left in a world of only women, Yorick teams with a government operative, 355, to try and uncover the truth about the plague and why he and he alone made it through alive.

The comic ran for sixty issues and has been collected in multiple trades.

This was a good story and I'd love to see a great movie adaptation.

Chuck was always reading this during the TV series when he had a comic book in his hands. Fun fact...

Probably my favorite comic series ever, right up there with Watchmen. I read every volume at work the summer following my senior year of high school. Months ago, I remember hearing rumors that Shia LaBeouf was going to be playing Yorick. I really hope that still isn't the case.

That was just a rumor. From what I have read, there has been no casting or offers made to anyone. And LaBeouf would be a terrible Yorick.
