No, there isn't a Batman Beyond live-action movie in development -- not anymore as far as we know -- but one person who'd be keen on seeing one is none other than Michael E. Uslan, the executive producer of all the Batman movies from Tim Burton's through Christopher Nolan's.

According to Batman-on-Film, Uslan attended a panel discussion before this week's world premiere of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 in New York City during which time he was asked about Batman's big screen future.

Uslan responded, "Now if I could put my 'fanboy hat' on, not my 'producer hat.' How cool would it be to see a Batman Beyond movie? Bruce Wayne in his 80s training a young Batman. And how cool would it be to see Clint Eastwood as Bruce Wayne in his 80s?!"

Warner Bros. explored the possibility of a live-action Batman Beyond movie over a decade ago, hiring Boaz Yakin to direct from a script by Paul Dini and Alan Burnett before the studio opted to go the reboot route with Christopher Nolan instead.

Do want Clint Eastwood as old Bats.

Pfft. I'd rather have Adam West.

Clint would play a grumpy old man who used to be a warrior really well, but the problem with him is that he wouldn't be Bruce Wayne or "old Batman" no matter how hard he tried - he would always be Clint Eastwood. It would be too jarring, imo.

How would the mainstream react to a Batman Beyond movie? I could see people shitting on it, at least the concept and designs, since I don't think Batman Beyond is all that well known outside of the fan world.

That would sum me up perfectly. I didn't know there was a Batman after Bruce Wayne until just now.

As someone who doesn't know about the series, what is your opinion on the design of Batman in Batman Beyond? Those red wings are retractable. They tend to come out when he needs them, they spend most of the time completely unseen (the suit is laced with futuristic technology due to it being a far off future).

I think red/black is the best color combination. So I love it from a visual standpoint. It looks cool as hell, to me. I'm not sure how well it fits into the "sneak around at night" thing batman does. I always red criticism against the batman logo being yellow for the same reason. Red seems to allow for the same criticism. It doesn't bother me, personally, since I think a better looking design sells better than a more authentic look in fictional settings.

This is my favorite Batman costume/symbol.

Even though I'm not a fan of the series anymore, I prefer the Arkham Asylum variant of that above costume:

Spoiler: click to toggle

I've always disliked the spandex look of the traditional Batman costumes, preferring the armored look seen in the games or movies.

Although I think my favorite official version ever would be the Batman Forever suit (even though the nipples suck):

Even back in the 90s I've always preferred him to be in as close to all black as possible. I would probablyhave put the Dark Knight trilogy costumes as my favorite but there's something really off about them. They're by far the most realistic but the first looks too rubbery and the second looks too SWAT (with a really helmet looking head).

I even like the alternate version of the Batman Forever suit for a special/occasional variant:

If you took that silver suit and made it black, then it would be the best one in any medium, imo.
