Does anybody else, via any platform, ever encounter older events on the WWE Network "ending" early?

I've been watching a lot of older PPVs and shows for WWE, WCW, and ECW and I keep running into the same problem - the shows keep ending around 30 seconds to a minute or so before the timeline is up. It basically just abruptly cuts off and takes me back to the menu again as if the show finished proper. And if I try to play it again to pick up where I left off, it restarts the show as if I officially finished it.

I think its just another quirk with the PS4 app, though, because I don't remember ever having this issue with the 360 app before.

WWE's Chief Strategy & Financial Officer George Barrios appeared on CNBC's Closing Bell today to talk about the WWE Network's one year birthday. Full video is above. Barrios said that in the next 3-5 years, the WWE Network could reach 3-4 million subscribers. He said:

"We've got, in our view, about 100 million broadband homes, top 16 markets, if we can get 3-4 percent penetration we can transform the company."

Its a bit misleading if they're claiming that he said WWE Network could reach 3-4 million subscribers based off of that quote, unless there was more that was omitted that implied it.

That said, I wonder what he means by saying 3-4%/3-4 million can transform the company? Would they then become much more reliant on the Network than they are now, or is it simply a "other companies will look at us better" kind of comment?

It makes me wonder, too: how many subscribers would the WWE Network have to have for WWE to ever consider moving all of their shows to it on the first airing, or with maybe a Raw replay following the USA Network airing of it within the first twenty-four hours? In other words, how many subscribers would it take for WWE to consider going fully independent? Or would that simply never work?

WWE's value on television has apparently lessened over the years if I'm remembering correctly when talks about their last contract renewals were in the news. At what point would WWE just break those ties, or at least move away from relying on television networks as their primary source of getting their product out their and turn it purely into a way to supplement their product?

There are no NXT specials on the horizon and nothing else important happening in the next 2 weeks. I'd say just wait for WM to renew and maybe get to see Extreme Rules before your next expiration.

I just checked. My current subscription expires March 22. So I have another week. :jump:

Just re-watched HBK v Undertaker at "Ground Zero 1997".

It contains one of the greatest HBK heel promos imo. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Actually, come to think of it, HBK was making stellar promos on PPVs from Ground Zero all the way through to Royal Rumble 1998.

So I attempted to get the American WWE Network and it backfired.

So my cable provider just got the WWE Network but I found out it's just the channel no online library to watch the old ppvs and shit. So I searched how I could get the American one in Canada. So I changed the dns on my ps4 and I was so happy to see the app available for download. I downloaded it no problem. But I couldn't purchase the account on a the app I needed to go online. Well you can't buy stuff online through your ps4 internet browser. So I changed the dns on my computer and attempted to purchase it. Put in my card information and everything, but it said there was a problem with the transaction. I assume it was because my address didn't match the billing address associated with my card. But they still fucking charged me for each time I attempted. Which was 5 times. I just wanna watch all the old ppvs, why's it gotta be so hard??

With the subscriber numbers continuing to go up (but will expected to drop some post-WM), the WWE is ready to pump out new Network exclusive content. Below is the announced new shows coming:

Quote:

WWEŽ NETWORK PARTNERS WITH SETH GREEN, JERRY SPRINGER AND JEFF TREMAINE ON THREE NEW ORIGINAL SERIES

STAMFORD, Conn., March 30, 2015 - In addition to the premium monthly live pay-per-view events, WWE Network unveiled new programming for the remainder of 2015, which includes eight brand new original series and partnerships with director Jeff Tremaine, Seth Green's Stoopid Buddy Stoodios and legendary talk show host Jerry Springer.

NEW ORIGINAL SERIES:

CAMP WWE - COMING LATE 2015
WWE, in partnership with Seth Green's Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, will debut a new, animated short-form comedy series entitled Camp WWE. Imagine WWE Superstars and Divas when they were kids at their favorite summer camp...which happens to be run by none other than Mr. McMahon - add in shock-value, slapstick humor and social satire - and you have WWE's first adult comedy, which will debut later this year.

"We're insanely excited about this collaboration," said Green. "WWE is one of the most heartfelt and professional organizations I've worked with. We're beyond happy to help them realize this vision."

SWERVED - COMING IN MAY
WWE teams up with the Director of Jackass and Bad Grandpa, Jeff Tremaine, to give you the hilarious original series, Swerved. Swerved is a half hour series and will premiere in May.

"I'm excited to combine my brand of entertainment with the world of WWE," said Tremaine. "It will be the ultimate mash-up."

DIVA SEARCH - COMING THIS FALL
WWE spans the globe in search of the most beautiful, athletic and charismatic women to find the next stunning WWE Diva. This competition will give viewers the opportunity to witness the challenges, trials, drama and rewards that accompany the journey of these women, as they vie for superstardom. Coming this Fall.

JERRY SPRINGER PRESENTS WWE TOO HOT FOR TV - COMING IN APRIL
Hosted by legendary talk show host Jerry Springer, this series will re-introduce the WWE Universe to the most outrageous stunts and cringe-inducing moments in TV history. The series will be chock full of insane situations and racy romps from WWE's past that will have members of the WWE Universe asking, "Did they really do this?!" Springer will inject his own brand of humor into each episode with themes such as "Love Hurts," "All in the Family" and "Weddings and Funerals."

The half-hour series will be available beginning in April in WWE Network's video-on-demand library with new episodes weekly.

"I suspect 25 years of The Jerry Springer Show qualifies me to comment on outrageous behavior," said Springer. "And what is more outrageous than the entertainment, drama and craziness of the WWE. This is going to be fun."

LIVE! WITH CHRIS JERICHO - DEBUTS MONDAY, APRIL 6 WITH SPECIAL GUEST JOHN CENA
Podcast host Chris Jericho challenges his guests in provocative, candid conversations about their careers, their lives, past controversies and the overall state of WWE. The monthly series kicks off Monday, April 6 immediately following Raw, with its first one-hour episode featuring WWE Superstar John Cena.

"I'm stoked to bring my show to WWE Network and give Jerichoholics worldwide more of what they've come to expect - humor, questions that have never been asked before and the best conversations that any podcast host has ever delivered," said Jericho. "No matter who the guest is, whether it be WWE Superstars, Divas, Legends, executives or icons from the entertainment world, I guarantee to deliver the best, most entertaining interview you have ever heard from each and every one of them."

UNFILTERED: WITH RENEE YOUNG - DEBUTS IN MAY
WWE announcer Renee Young interviews WWE Superstars and other pop-culture celebrities, covering just about everything, except what they are famous for. In this short-form series, Renee's guests include Grammy Award winner Wiz Khalifa, five-time Grammy nominee Skylar Grey and WWE Superstars Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Unfiltered will debut in May.

CULTURE SHOCK: WITH COREY GRAVES - PREMIERING IN JUNE
WWE commentator Corey Graves reveals a variety of unique venues, customs, music, food and people as WWE's tour travels around the world. From Marvel comic headquarters to a tattoo shop on the lower east side of Manhattan, Graves examines the local culture with his unique perspective and style. This short-form series will premiere in June.

WWE THE LIST - COMING IN JUNE
WWE The List is the best, the worst, the most bizarre and interesting of everything and anything WWE. If it's amazing, outrageous, sexy or just plain fun, it just made #TheList.

NEW EPISODES:

In addition to the eight new original series, WWE Network will also debut new episodes of the highly-acclaimed docu-series WWE 24 as well as WWE Countdown and Rivalries. WWE will also add more children's programming by bringing back the popular 1980s animated series, Hulk Hogan's Rock 'N' Wrestling. In addition, WWE Network will produce compelling specials and short form content, while continuing to add 1,000 hours to its robust video-on-demand library, which currently has more than 3,000 hours of content.

WWE 24
The acclaimed 30-minute docu-series takes you on a lightning-fast journey through a day in the life of WWE's most intriguing Superstars and groundbreaking events.

WWE COUNTDOWN
WWE Countdown settles the great debates across WWE history. Who was the most dangerous Diva? Who had the best catchphrase? This one-hour series allows the WWE Universe to determine the top 10 in each category and have the final word on who tops each list.

RIVALRIES
This docu-style series takes a look at the greatest rivalries in WWE history, as never told before. Get the real stories behind WWE's most exciting matches and entertaining feuds through the eyes of the Superstars who created them. Each one-hour episode leaves no story untold.

HULK HOGAN'S ROCK 'N' WRESTLING
Harkening back to 1985, this Saturday morning cartoon, which originally aired on CBS, features Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Junkyard Dog, Captain Lou Albano, and Roddy Piper in a series that is both nostalgic and entertaining, 30 years later.

SPECIALS:

FLOYD MAYWEATHER VS. THE BIG SHOW: THE BIGGEST VS. THE BEST - PREMIERES MONDAY, APRIL 27
WWE Network will look back at this epic David vs. Goliath encounter at WrestleMania 24 (2008) and its shocking conclusion coming just in time for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, which is expected to be one of the biggest boxing matches in history.

NXT TAKEOVER - LIVE! - AIRS MONTHLY ON WEDNESDAYS
The future is here. WWE's hottest up-and-coming Superstars compete to prove they've got what it takes. More than just evolution, it's a revolution! Witness these WWE Superstars of tomorrow as they take over WWE Network with live two-hour specials.

NXT TakeOver going monthly is a little surprising since everyone seemed to like the quarterly shows. It'll be interesting to see how they do with less time to build between shows. Some of the other series look interesting as well. Not all of them.

Yeah I called my bank to dispute the charges and they said I had to call wwenetwork first and only if they refuse to refund me can I dispute the charges. I called them and played stupid "I tried ordering wwe network for my kids and I guess cuz I live in Canada it didn't work" so they told me it was hold on the money and I have to call my bank to find out when the money will be returned. The weird part is.
3 of the charges were 12.83 and of them were 12.93...?

I was really surprised they were going to go to NXT monthly specials without making a fairly specific announcement about it. But the WWE confirmed to The Observer NXT specials will remain quarterly

WWE officials just contacted us to say that the NXT specials are going to remain quarterly and they are changing the wording in the press release that stated the specials were going to be monthly.

Yeah, it's definitely a good thing that they aren't doing monthly NXT specials. It gives them more time to build storylines and make each one feel bigger. I kind of wish WWE did less PPVs for the main roster.

I have been wondering how long it'd take them to put the Diva Search on the Network. It's good that it's a Network thing, but I am sure we are still going to see the contestants on Raw each week to help promote the Network show.

WWE had their quarterly conference call recently and Vince said something about the Network that leaves questioning. He said that there are no immediate plans to alter the price of the Network, but said they have discussed possibly upping the price for events like WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam or any other big event. Which I personally don't have a problem with. But I do wonder how that would affect the VOD aspect. If they raise the price of the Network for WrestleMania, will WrestleMania be behind a price restriction after that point? If I buy it the following month when the price drops, could I still watch WM? It'd be interesting.

I think Vince was mostly referring to the problem they face with people buying the network for one month and getting Wrestlemania for ten dollars. That's probably the biggest issue facing the network now that the commitment proved to be ineffective. I'm not sure if there is a way to effectively alter it so that specific month where there is a huge show is more expensive if you're just buying one month.

Given how much work they are having to put into building a core subscriber base, I can understand why they are going with a flat fee. But I always thought there should be some kind of separation of services. So you only pay for what you want. For example:

This month's PPV - $10
PPVs + all archives - $12
PPVs +Archives + Original programming - $15

But I'm sure that would just confuse people for whatever reason. But I want to think they could get more impulse buys if they said things like "you could get the PPV right now for just $10" as opposed to having to say "You can get the entire month and blah blah blah for $10".

Working in retail, I know it is A LOT easier to get people on impulse buys than doing a hard sell. This is true for things we always sell. We can have an item in it's usual location and it'll sell like normal. But we move the same item near the registers or put them on endcaps (at the end of the isle) away from its normal location and people will buy it much more. Impulse buys.
