Harry Knowles over at Ain’t Cool News is reporting rumors that a Yoda movie might be the first Star Wars stand alone film.

“The first Stand Alone film is going to center upon YODA. At this stage specifics are sparse, but Kathleen Kennedy is putting together a STAR WARS slate... I'm wildly curious for more details on the YODA film - would this be a young or old YODA tale?”

Now this might make sense. To start off with the likes of Boba Fett maybe both difficult and confusing. Would Boba Fett be played by Temuera Morrison or Daniel Logan? Could either carry a film? The studio might want to recast, which would mean never removing his helmet.

By starting out with Yoda, we have our heroic Jedi and a character that can be both a puppet and or CGI. Frank Oz played Yoda in 5 of the Star Wars films, but Tom Kane makes a pretty convincing Yoda on The Clone Wars. Either actor would work in the role.

Yoda is both widely popular with the kids and the fanboys. If this rumor is true, it might be the right step in a stand alone picture for the Star Wars Universe.

I've never been a particularly big fan of Yoda, so a movie focusing on him wouldn't appeal to me much.

Although I'd love to see how the world would react to dark side Yoda, which is a thing that happened in the extended universe books.

I'm with Flandango, Yoda has never been appealing to me either. I hated the CGI Yoda, but that may be the lover of the old school coming out in me.
I still really don't know how to take any of this new Star Wars at all. I feel that i'll be going into it with hatred already just based on what they did with Eps 1,2 and 3.

I wouldn't be hyped about it, but I'd still see it.

I quote that offline every once in awhile.

And it makes me sad when I realize most people don't know what I'm quoting. :(
