I decided to change this into a thread dedicated to whatever The Rock is currently filming or starring in because why not?

In the fast-paced action thriller SNITCH, Dwayne Johnson stars as a father whose teenage son is wrongly accused of a drug distribution crime and is looking at a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 10 years. Desperate and determined to rescue his son at all costs, he makes a deal with the U.S. attorney to work as an undercover informant and infiltrate a drug cartel on a dangerous mission -- risking everything, including his family and his own life.

A few days late but...

The Rock's new movie "Snitch" opens today and it's getting positive reviews from critics. Review aggregation site RottenTomatoes.com currently has the movie listed with a 51% approval rating. The USA Today newspaper gave the film 3 out of 4 stars and had this to say about the WWE Champion's performance:

"Johnson is terrific, as he further matures as an actor. He's no action hero/one-man-army here. It's a far more nuanced performance than he's given before ... Johnson is thoroughly convincing as an undercover informant, as well as a businessman and concerned father."

"The film is fast-paced in the beginning and end but lags somewhat in the middle. Still, the dramatic nature of the story, more than the action sequences, make the movie most compelling."

With that said, however:

The Rock's "Snitch" is expected to do $13 million at the box office this weekend, which would be one of the Rock's lowest opening weekends.

STAY HYPED!!!

I like most of Rock's movies. I never watch his family style movies like "Race to Witch Mountain" or "Journey 2" and I didn't like Tooth Fairy, Rock's action movies are usually a good time. I really liked his movie "Faster", "Fast Five" speaks for itself, "Walking Tall" was great, "The Run Down" was great, "Scorpion King" was great. I wouldn't rate any of these movies on my all time favorites lists (and I don't even make such lists any way), but I enjoyed them and would watch them again. I even enjoyed "Gridiron Gang" even though I don't like football or sports. So I am expecting to like "Snitch" as well. I already have it added to my Netflix DVD queue.

The official website for TNT's "The Hero"

Quote:

WWE Champion Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson concluded filming Thursday for The Hero, a reality show airing on TNT this summer. He tweeted, "Central America - Panama. Just wrapped my show THE HERO. Amazing experience. Proud of my cast. #EpicMoments."

The description for the program reads, "The Hero will bring nine ordinary people together in an unexpected and dramatic setting, then assign them various missions that will test their brains, their brawn and even their morality. The show will challenge the competitors to prove they've got what it takes to be heroes, pushing them to their limits to see what they are willing (and able) to overcome, undergo or sacrifice. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will serve as The Hero's mentor and motivator, encouraging the contestants to reach far beyond their personal limits. In the end, one player will rise above the others, overcoming obstacles he/she never thought possible for a chance to walk away with up to a million dollars."
