I've spent way too much money online today. First, I bought a hard drive for my Wii U for $55. And I picked up the Assassin's Creed 3 game that was on sale as well. I wanted Assassin's Creed 4 as well, but it wasn't as cheap as it is on the Eshop so I am going to wait. Hopefully, this hard drive is compatible with my Wii U and gets here soon enough for me to buy the game while it is on sale on the eshop.

And just now, I decided to buy a grill. I've spoken before about how much I love to grill and how I grill all year long. My dad has an off set grill that he uses for smoking. Without boring you of the details for why, I found myself without a grill. I ended up buying a small Weber Smokey Joe last winter (but they sent me a Jumbo Joe, which was a free upgrade). The grill itself is fine. I have no complaints with how it cooks. But it is really a portable grill that you can take with you to the beach or other such outings. It's very low to the ground and awkward to cook on. But I bought it, at the time, because it was cheap ($30) and small enough to cook small meals.

So I've decided upgrade and guy a 22.5 inch one-touch Weber grill. My Jumbo Joe is 18.5 inches in diameter, so this is a bigger grill. But I also bought some charcoal baskets that will allow me to still use a smaller amount of fuel. I actually was going to buy the 18.5 inch one touch Weber, but I measured my Jumbo Joe and the diamater of that is 18.5. I didn't see the point in buying another grill that is basically the exact same size, which is why I went with the bigger model. This way, if I want or need to cook on a smaller grill, I still have it. But the bigger grill is up at cooking level so I don't have to sit in a damn lawn chair to grill!

So, yeah, with the grill and the baskets and a pack of socks (always need socks) and taxes, that's another $180 I spent. Which means I've spent over $200 without actually leaving my house. Oh, I gotta stop letting myself do this!

And now another dip into the "I hate my phone" file...

My audio jack broke a few months ago and I decided not to pay the $100 to fix it. Not only that, but I was pretty much forced to upgrade my data package to avoid paying even more money. I am now 2 months away from my contract ending. I do not want to invest anything into my current phone. Not one more damn dollar.

I go to plug in my phone, and the damn charger doesn't work. I tried different plug ins. I tried the old Nintendo "blow in it" strategy. Nothing worked. I thought for sure my phone was dead. I don't know how a charger would stop working, so I assumed that the phone itself had to have been broke. But then I remembered I bought an HDMI cable for my phone when I tried to hook it up my phone to my TV to watch the WWE Network. I tried that and it's charging. So apparently it is the cable that died..I don't know how. But I got out of buying a new cable, which would have only ran me about $5 but is still more than I want to invest in this phone at this point.

Just looked at my online tracking for my grill. The status is "out for delivery", which means I'll be getting it sometime today. So happy...even though there is exactly 0% chance I'll grill on it today. And I probably won't even assemble it until next week since I'm working all weekend and will be getting my grilling fix from friends that are grilling for the 4th.

I am disappointed that my fuel baskets haven't been shipped yet. I got an email telling me that the item was delayed and might be canceled. Not sure why they'd do this unless it's not in stock and they have no plans to order more. I may have to purchase these through Amazon or...heaven forbid...go inside a real store and make an :quote: in person :quote: purchase :uhoh:

My Assassin's Creed 3 should be here today as well, though I won't be able to play today (work tonight). I may hold off until my next night off (wednesday) so I can really sink my teeth into the game with extended play time.

I'm not sure where my external hard drive is. The online tracking hasn't updated since Saturday morning. It was the very first thing shipped, so I am hoping to get this as well.

Got my socks, AC3, USB storage drive, and grill today. The USB drive is a lot smaller than imagined. It's only about the size of a large smartphone. Didn't expect it to be that small. It doesn't have its own power source, which is what Nintendo recommends. But I plugged it into my Wii U and it seems to be working. I am downloading AC4: Black Flag as we speak. I leave for work in about an hour. I don't think it'll be done by then. I wonder if I can pause without interrupting the download? Or maybe I'll just turn of my TV and let my Wii U run all night. It shouldn't hurt...should it?

You actually might want to google the question about how long to keep the Wii U on.

I read of people leaving their 3DS on 24/7, so it's best to err on the side of caution and see what others have to say.

I believe Wii U had a recent update that allows you to continue downloading even with the console turned off. I've seen my console do this several times when my console is off. It downloads updates automatically. I turned my console of. The light is orange with the white light on as well, which means it is still downloading. I'll know for sure when I get back home and turn my console back on.

It is suppose to take 5 or 6 hours to download this game. Holy shit! Either my connection sucks or digital downloads just take forever. Or maybe the estimation isn't correct.

13GB. I don't think it would take the full 6 hours. It jumps between 4 and 6 hours. But I don't have sufficient power t the external hard drive so i don't even know :(

At least it's not boring to be drunk all the time. My roommates drink 3-4 times a week. They piss me off. I live with an aboriginal couple. There's never any white people here, just drunk natives. I'm not racist, but that's not my crowd. These roommates suck, and now I basically just hang out in my room all the time. I really need to move.

So is the USA the only nation that calls them black or african american? Every other international poster uses the term aboriginal. I'm too American to know what aboriginal even means!

I think it basically means someone who is indigenous to that respective country/land/etc. I guess the U.S. equivalent would be your Native Americans.

You tell em' Head Like A Fryhole!

So I found an ad online for people seeking a roommate. It's a girl and a guy, both 23 like me, she's in university for film, like i will be next year, and he's a cook. I've been talking to this girl for a few hours now and we're really hitting it off! She added me on Facebook and she's really pretty. That can be troublesome  but nah, if everything works out this'll be huge for me!

Only downside is my room would be quite a lot smaller, but hey i'd actually have access to the rest of my house. :P

My fuel baskets were finally shipped and delivered. I put my grill together and am currently in the process of going through the "first burn". I don't like cooking food on the grill the first time I fire it up. I like to do a empty cook so that I can cook off any oils or residue left on the grill from the manufacturing process. It may seem like a waste of fuel, but I think it's worth it.

I filled up a chimney worth of charcoal and let it burn. That would completely fill my old Jumbo Joe. That is only about 1/3 full in my new grill. Which is fine, because the fuel baskets allow me to set up a zone cooking. So while it would take a lot more charcoal to fill up this grill, it probably won't since I'll be grilling with direct and indirect heat. I put my lid on and the thermometer leveled of at 450 degrees. I just checked. It's been going 30 minutes and it's holding steady at that temperature. If I can get 45 minutes or an hour before the temperature drops below 300 degrees, then this will be a big time win!

I bought a beef tenderloin from work. I'll probably slice off a few steaks and grill them up a little bit later today. :jump:

I am now at the 1 hour mark and the thermometer on my grill is holding steady at 400. That's fantastic on just one chimney of charcoal. I expect it to start dropping in the next 20 minutes though.

I would say I got about 80-90 minutes of solid heat out of one chimney of charcoal. It's still reading a temperature of 290-300, but it's pretty cool at the moment. Still, that's an awesome amount of time for one chimney. I remember the last time I cooked on my Jumbo Joe that the fire actually went out before I was even finished cooking my food. I still have the unlit charcoal in the Jumbo Joe right now. That's not the first time this has happened, which is why I decided to upgrade.

Of course, this was a dry run that had no food. I also mostly left the lid on so everything could get hot. I'm sure that once I put food on the grill that the added mass and stuff dripping onto the charcoal will affect the total heat time, but not by much probably. I'm confident I can direct/indirect cook most meals on just one chimney. :)

I did notice 2 issues with my new grill:

1) The lid handle gets very hot. I've seen youtube videos where people say the handle doesn't get hot, but that was a lie. I picked it up bare handed when the thermometer on the lid was registering 450 and had to drop it immediately. Definitely need gloves to take the handle off.

2) I don't want to say the thermometer is unreliable but it doesn't seem to be fast responding, which I didn't expect it to be considering the type of thermometer it is. I took the lid off at one point and the thermometer was showing 400 degrees. I moved my fuel baskets around (on top of the grill.I didn't have fuel in them this time) and played with the ashes. When I put the lid back on, it would only get up to 350 degrees. Maybe that extra 50 degrees really was retained by the lid and I lost it when I took the lid off, but it still seems slow to drop in temperature. But I'll be taking the lid off a lot when I cook, so this isn't really an issue.

Native/aboriginal people are fine, after all they are just people. However the kind that frequent my home I am not compatible with. I want to be around artsy folk who I share some interests with, not people who cause drama and have the cops show up at our place a few times a year.

I'm not racist, I have a bunch of native friends!
