WWE developmental Diva Lina Fanene, who is The Rock's cousin, noted on Twitter that she recently received her new NXT name, which is "Zada."

If this were a guy, then I'd expect a decent sized push just on the fact that she is related to the Rock. But we all know how WWE treats their divas. I do wonder if we'll get a Charlotte vs Zada feud in NXT or in WWE. Guess it depends on how quickly Zada learns. I have no idea how long she has been wrestling at this point.

Is this Hideo Itami bloke the same guy who did all those crazy ass head dropping moves in Japan? You know, those same moves that were featured in the old wrestling video games like WWF No Mercy (N64)? Those moves which I thought were make believe because who in their right mind is going to volunteer to have their neck broken in a wrestling match?

Is he even gonna be able to do those moves in WWE? If not those moves, what else does he have? Kicks? Everyone in the WWE does a kick nowadays and I'm sick of seeing people kicking each other. CM Punk's finisher was a kick. As was HBK's. Daniel Bryan kicks people all the time. Sheamus has some stupid boot for a finisher, and everyone seems to use a variation upon Sheamus's kick as a regular move. Enough with the kicks!

Or is it a different dude?

CM Punk's finisher was a kick.
Unless I'm confusing people and faces, CM Punk's "Go to Sleep" finisher was originally used by Hideo Itami. It'll be interesting to see if they let him use the GTS in WWE since that is established as Punk's move, but at the same time Punk and WWE had a big falling out. I know he used a "off the top rope stomp" move (I don't know the name) on NXT.

The next NXT live special will be held on December 11. WWE issued a statement to the media that includes the date along with a graphic that shows Triple H, Sami Zayn, Kevin Steen, Fergal Devitt, Hideo Itami, Charlotte, and Adrian Neville.

They better not call it Take Over 3!

Hell yeah. I was wondering when the next NXT special was going to be, since Triple H mentioned that they would do one more live event on the Network before the end of the year. Stoked that Steen will be on the show.

Sami Zayn lost to Tyson Kidd on Main Event this week. Main Event isn't anything important and I would guess that only about a million (or even less) people watch the show each week, but it's good to see Sami on a main roster show. I still don't expect him to have an exceptional WWE career. He'll be a mid carder for life (see Dolph Ziggler), if he can even get that high. His body type generic look just doesn't seem like something WWE is going to push very high up the cards. Unless he can get over like Daniel Bryan did, I think he'll be no higher than mid card title status. But that's even if he makes it up that high. Looking at a lot of the recent NXT call ups a lot of them didn't exactly make a great name for themselves.

Also, because we don't have a Main Event thread, Curtis Axel is still employed. Who knew that?! And he won his match with a sloppy running knee.

Also, Bray Wyatt wrestled. You'd think they'd save that for Raw or a PPV, but they gave it to us on Main Event. Good thing most of the viewing Raw/PPV audience will remain oblivious to this fact.

WWE executive Michelle Wilson told Variety that the NXT television show and the NXT live special will air on Wednesday nights when Smackdown moves to Thursday nights in January.

Not that it matters, since you can only see NXT if you have the Network. And if you have the Network, you can watch it on Demand anytime you want. :tu:

Itami and Balor are such a cool tag team. Two of Japan's top junior heavyweights over the past five years joining together? Yes, please. I hope they don't stay in NXT for too long.

Unless Itami gets the Rey Mysterio treatment, then I don't think he's going to have much of a career on the main roster. WWE just doesn't have a strong record of pushing foreign wrestlers.

It's been kind of depressing watching Itami in NXT. How legitimate his offense and strikes look is what makes KENTA such a special worker. I think he has the charisma to translate on the main roster - though he probably needs someone to talk for him. But he needs to stand out as something special in the ring and seem like he's something different. Working this overly safe style is doing him no favors.

Devitt is going to be a complete star. I know that they (especially Triple H) really like him. He's too special to be anything other than a featured guy for a long time.

Not only is Itami a foreigner, but he is also under six feet tall. I don't see him getting released for a little while because there will be guys like Daniel Bryan pushing for him, but I do agree that he probably will not have much of a career on the main roster. We'll see what happens, though.

Devitt is probably my favorite current wrestler, but I have always been skeptical about his mic work. The furthest I could see him going is winning the Intercontinental or United States Championship. It will be interesting to see if WWE fans are into him because I think that will ultimately dictate his future.

His mic work is definitely the weakest part of the package but I tend to think people can figure it out if they have enough natural charisma. Devitt comes off super charismatic to me and can make himself look like a star. I thought a lot of his heel promos in bullet club were really clever. But on the main roster when he's forced to read a script it will be a lot more challenging. It's crazy how much of a problem that is in wrestling. Wrestlers tend to be really charismatic and interesting people who can talk well. But most struggle when reading from a script and WWE refuses to work to their strengths.

Triple H has a vested interest in all of his signings. If they work out it only makes him look better. He has protected all of the shield guys really well. He really cares about the Wyatt's too though their booking has been kind of suspect. I actually think Sami Zayn will be a bigger star than any of them. He's probably the best natural baby face I've ever seen. It's a dying art in wrestling. He's going to connect so well to every segment of the fanbase. Kids will completely buy in and the more smarky portion of the audience will know how good he is. He doesn't even really need to be booked particularly well because he can get over losing with how sympathetic he is.

I think you are going to majorly disappointed when Sami Zayn gets called up to the main roster. His size and his build is very similar to Christian. I don't anticipate Zayn having a great run on the main roster. I don't know what the pay rate is for NXT, but if he's making good money then he better stay on NXT for as long as he possibly can.

It's possible but things have changed a lot recently and they're only going to change more in the coming years. Bryan is the best comparison I can make for Zayn in that he's just so naturally likable. But Zayn's even better at selling and getting the crowd behind him. He'll need to be booked right because everyone does but he needs it a lot less than pretty much everyone else. Triple H is really behind these guys. He's not an idiot. He knows how good they are and that their success will only make him look good. He can protect them a lot. At least until they get near the main event. Then it will depend on what Vince sees in them which is always scary.

I'm not blindly looking past the obvious issues that exist though. I'm really nervous for what they will do with Kevin Steen. I think that Adrian Neville's spot on the card will always be limited by his height and lack of charisma/mic skills. The language barrier will always be an issue for KENTA. But I know how much they like Zayn and Devitt especially. Devitt was signed to be at least somewhat fast tracked compared to how long everyone else has to stay down there. I'd guess he's up around after Wrestlemania when people got called up last year.

Zayn vs. Neville is one of the better booked WWE feuds/matches in a long time. I think NXT in general is kind of proof that professional wrestling is a really simple thing and is way over complicated on the main roster because of a bloated writing team and the need to fill so much TV time.

Excited to see how Steen is packaged and presented. As much as I love him he will need them fully behind him to reach his potential in the WWE in a way some of their other new signings don't necessarily need to succeed.

Why are they so hung up on the "take over" name? NXT Revolution would have been just fine.

The Kevin Owens vignette on NXT this week was excellent. Really hope he can succeed despite not being the prototypical WWE guy. Steen is one of the most talented guys in the business and by all accounts (besides Jim Cornette) one of the nicest.

Another name complaint, even though no one else seems to care. Not only have they dragged the name "take over" for much longer than they should have, they have also ruined "Revolution" for me by pronouncing it R-evolution. If they wanted it to be "our evolution" then think of a better name! Fuck! :td:

Anyway, the results I'd like to see are:

Adrian Neville over Sami Zayn
Sasha Banks over Charlotte
The Lucha Dragons over The Vaudevillains
Balor/Itami over The Ascension

Fuck the Ascension. Why do I get the feeling that this will be the NXT act that creative is most serious about pushing? Well, the Shield and Wyatts will be the biggest NXT success story, but the recent call ups have all been a bust. (I still want to bo-lieve!!!). I hate the Ascension and fear WWE will make them a dominate tag team that holds the penny belts for years and decades to come. :uhoh:

I love Sasha Banks. I think she is gorgeous. Lets face it, female wrestling in WWE died when Lita and Trish left. Mickie James tried for a while, but it is all about looks now. This is why Charlotte's call up is going to disappoint: because she is fucking ugly. But Sasha Banks is beautiful and can wrestle well enough. Call her up instead.

The tag team match is a wash for me. I don't care about either team, but I like the Lucha Dragons more than the Vaudevillains. Now that Rey is expected to return to WWE, he should take on a mentor/managerial role with the Lucha Dragons. He can bring them in as his guys and help get them over?

As for the main event match, Sami is suppose to leave NXT if he loses. That's the same storyline they ran with Bo Dallas as he was being called up. Sami has been rumored to be called up for a while, so that's why I'm picking Neville to retain.

So brutal.

My picks for who I think will win on Thursday night:

- Sami Zayn
- The Lucha Dragons
- Hideo Itami & Finn Bálor
- Charlotte Flair

I'm also expecting Kevin Owens to debut by attacking Sami Zayn after he wins the NXT Championship. Given their history, it just makes the most sense for Owens to debut that way.

I might be in the minority about Charlotte's looks. I personally have a strong disliking for blondes, but I don't think she'd be attractive even if her hair was any other color. I've shown her pic to a couple of people at work. It started with talking to a friend that likes wrestling, but isn't subscribed and thus doesn't watch NXT. I was showing him pictures of the various wrestlers (male and female) and he loved Charlotte. Another friend that doesn't care for wrestling also saw her pic and thought she was gorgeous. I don't see it.

I know it shouldn't matter about looks and that talent should be the determining factor. But this is WWE we are talking about. This is the same company that books Cameron a 14 minute PPV match time and gives AJ vs Nikki 12 seconds to kiss and pin.

If WWE cared at all, they would have shown footage of the fantastic match Charlotte and Natty had earlier this year before their match, stressed how it could have come down to either woman, and then treated it like a real upset when Natty won. That would have given Charlotte a storyline when she is called up.

According to Pwinsider.com, former WWE NXT Tag Team champions The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) will be brought up to the WWE main roster. They will start airing vignettes for the team on this week’s Smackdown.

Yeah, I read that. I think the Ascension are horrible. They seem like they are going for the Legion of Doom/Demolition dominate type tag team, but Konnor and Vicktor are horrible at the parts. I am hoping they are just another name in the line of failed NXT call ups, but I fear this is the act that creative really get behind and the Ascension hold the tag team titles until 2022.
