I don't look at the spoilers, since I like watching things develop each week. Nothing against anyone that does view the spoilers. I just don't. I'm not going to open the spoilers, but I'd like to know one thing. Have they announced the name for the next NXT special? Is it NXT Takeover again?

Coming out of this week's NXT episode, the next Network Special is starting to take shape. I read a rumor (no-spoilers) that the next special was originally planned for March but was pushed up to February. There are a few theories on why that is, but who is to say what's true. The fact is that the card is rapidly shaping up.

Zayn vs Owens has me salivating. I know these two have a history together on the indies, but I haven't seen their matches. But I have heard great things about their matches and have high expectations. I'd love to see KO dominate for most of the match and Zayn to pull out a victory at the end. I think KO will be champion, but I don't want him to get the belt just yet.

The number 1 contender's tournament looks stacked. I hate that Corbin vs Bull is in the brackets, since I don't think either of these guys should be anywhere near the NXT Title. But I think that whomever wins will ultimately lose the next round. I'm surprised we are getting Hideo vs Baylor so early in the tournament, since I'd have thought that would be the Network Special match. Without spoilers, I expect Neville vs Baylor at the Network Special

The Women's 4-way match is going to deliver, but I'm not sure how I feel about it going into the match. The women of NXT usually deliver, but I am much more excited by a one on one women's match than a fatal four way. But I'll be happy to be wrong. Charlotte has to drop the title here, though. She gets a lot of love for being Flair's daughter and all, but I find her to be bloody boring. I'm once again hoping Sasha Banks walks out with the belt.

That's the three matches we know so far. I'm sure the Tag Titles will be defended as well. And I'm still thinking we'll get a Corbin vs Bull 3 at the Network special, but will be very happy to be wrong there. Corbin won last week. I am thinking Bull will win in the tournament (Before losing to Neville), thus giving them a 1-1 tie?

I was genuinely surprised that the Lucha Dragons lost the Tag Team titles. I don't expect title changes until Network Specials. Add in that the new Champions just popped up recently. It's just weird that they won this quickly, especially when the next special is only a few weeks away.

I can't say I'm excited by the 4 way women's match. There's just too many bodies in the ring. But as long as Sasha walks out with the belt, I'm happy. :tu:

I was also surprised to see Baron Corbin win a second match over Bull. I thought they'd split victories. That said, I would be fine with not seeing these two wrestle a third time.

I expect the finals to come down to Balor and Neville. And that match is going to be insanely good. Come to think of it, Neville vs Hedio will be fantastic as well. One thing is for sure, Baron Corbin won't advance past next week.

William Regal is a really good authority figure. He only shows up on screen when his presence is needed, but it always feels like he has the show completely under his control. He doesn't need to spend 1/3 of the show on the microphone.

Kevin Owens doing the Razor toothpick throw with the pen during that contract signing was the coolest part about the segment. I am kind of glad we don't do a NXT KIA because I honestly have no idea who is winning this match. Sami Zayn just won the belt. Kevin Owens just debuted. So Zayn could keep the belt and Owens could continue to chase. But I prefer it when the heels have the belt and the faces chase the title, so I want Owens to win and Zayn to want the belt back.

NXT was excellent this week. Zayn vs. Owens hype video is among the best they've ever done.

Baron Corbin in his first big match against Adrian Neville left me underwhelmed. Adrian has been putting on great matches since I started watching. Corbin could not keep up his end of the match.

I am really excited for the Owens vs Zayn match. This is going to be so good. I don't expect to see a title change here. Like they said in the video tonight, this will be 2 months since Kevin Owens debuted. I don't see them putting the belt on him just yet. I'd have no problem if they did, but I don't expect it.

Baylor vs Neville is probably going to be MOTN. It can go either way between this and the title match, but this is the one I'd gamble on. I am expecting Baylor to win since Neville just lost the belt and we've already been through the rematch storyline with him. And, you know, Baylor has that rocket attached to his back. I am also equally excited to see his entrance and see what body paint design he goes with this time.

The Women's Title should change hands here. Once again, I am hoping for a Sasha Banks victory. I am very much tired of Charlotte. It looks like they may be going with a Becky vs Sasha feud after this.

The Tag Team title scene is equally as weak on NXT as Raw. It was surprising that they took the titles off the Lucha Dragons during a normal episode. I don't see the Dragons getting the belts back.

Corbin vs Bull. Fuck, I am tired of this feud. This is the match that should have happened at the last Take Over. I've seen them wrestle twice and I hope I don't see them wrestle a fourth time. Their matches have not been good. I don't expect this to change. I do expect Corbin to win again. And maybe they'll keep it going with Bull saying "you won't get lucky a fourth time!". Hope not.

I'm sure we'll get at least one unannounced segment, but I'm not sure what it'll be. Have they signed anyone recently that would get a big debut?

I'm expecting that we will get a quick Hideo vs. Tyler Breeze match. I was kind of hoping we would get a follow up to Breeze and Chad Gable after Breeze beat him on his debut. I know they really like Gable and he has improved a ton. Hopefully we see more from him at the next set of tapings.

Also a chance we will see Solomon Crowe finally debut in some fashion with the hacker teases we have gotten recently.

I'm not sure where they're going with the booking for this special. Everything seems a step too fast which could be explained by them having to move the special up a month, but it could be that we are getting some call-ups soon too. I wouldn't be surprised to see Neville, Zayn and Balor on the main roster immediately after Wrestlemania.

Paul "Triple H" Levesque's pre-live special conference call was today. Some notes from Meltzer:

Quote:

Some notes:

- By late 2015 or early 2016, he would like have NXT as a national third touring troupe running shows every weekend all over the country. He feels this will give the talent more experience performing before different types of crowds. He would also like to have guys on the main roster who may be stale and need to tryout a new gimmick or just be refreshed to be part of those tours.

- He pushed the idea of a changing vision of women in WWE, citing the NXT video that was done about being "like a girl." He said there were a lot of reasons women presentations and portrayals were different on the main roster including different visions and different audiences, but cited Ronda Rousey and a shift in the culture and talked about a transition period to get to where women are presented differently.

My thoughts are they just need to make the move while introducing new talent right away and make a statement. A slow transition could end up as one of those ideas that gets muddled, doesn't work right away, and kind of goes nowhere.

- He said they are making transitions with the Alex Riley character, that he's expressed different interests, and that he will be having some cool opportunities come up.

- He pushed that William Regal was in charge of scouting the independent scene and recruiting talent from there.

- Regarding Seth Rollins, he said that Rollins issued an apology and called it "an unfortunate personal incident, and that's all it is." He gave the indication there would be no punishment involved and it was something they wanted to move past.

Alex Riley needs to just go away. He wasn't good as a wrestler and was terrible as a commentator on both the pre-show panels and on NXT. Not even in the heel "I want to see him get hit" bad way. I mean in the "i don't want to watch this" way. Just go away, Riley!

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
Is it me or this is the first time a WWE-produced show uses quotes from critics praising their product (NXT, in this particular case)?

Another excellent live special. Probably the best in-ring work of any of the specials so far. Women's match was fantastic and maybe my match of the night. Balor vs. Neville completely delivered. Owens and Zayn told the correct story with the correct finish. The match was good, but they can and will do better. Tonight was about getting Owens over as an ass kicker and they did so effectively. Very excited to see where they go from here.

The second half of the show was really worth the watch.

The main event ending might be a first for wrestling, with a title change via ref stoppage aided by a medic.

The ending to the main event was amazing. The crowd chanting "BULLSHIT" because they thought it was a No Contest ending until it's revealed to be a TKO.

This show is getting the typical NXT praise, and while it was a good show that delivered with the top matches, I felt that the show over all was a noticeable step down from previous Network Specials. Even the crowd seemed more sedated and out of it than normal. Definitely several notches below R-Evolution.

The KO vs SZ match was almost a squash until closer to the end. That ending was fantastic though and is something I wish we'd see on the main roster. This is an ending that Brock Lesnar could pull off. Just one guy beating the living hell out of the other to the point that the trainers and referee ends the match. Very strong ending that made KO look brutal.

I'm ecstatic that Shasha Banks finally won the NXT Women's Title. I've been a fan of hers pretty much since I started watching NXT and I've been pulling for her to win the Title ever since Paige vacated it. I was pulling for her in the tournament. I was pulling for her at R-Evolution. I am very glad she won it here. Hopefully, she'll have a nice long, strong title reign.

Baylor vs Neville was good, but wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be. Maybe my expectations were too high? Another issue I'm finding I have is that I have zero faith in Baylor winning the NXT Title away from KO. It seems like KO vs SZ is destined to be a long term and storied feud. I don't see KO losing the belt until SZ gets his revenge later this year (hopefully, not until the December show). That said, I think Baylor vs KO will be a great show.

Corbin vs Bull was the train wreck I expected. Can these guys please be separated.

The Tag Team scene remains to be the weakest division in all of WWE. I'm starting to like Blake and Murphy. Maybe they'll grow into a solid tag team? But they need competition. Will the Vaudevillains show back up soon? Will SWAFT go for the belts? IDK.

Prince Pretty vs Hideo Itami was ok. It isn't anything anyone is going to talk about within a month's time, even when they look back at this show.

Over all, I felt very underwhelmed this time around. It didn't feel like it lived up to the high standards of previous Network Specials and felt flat during many portions. Still better than most of the main roster shows, but compared to previous NXT shows it doesn't hold up.

KO's opening promo wasn't that strong, imo. There was nothing inherently bad about it, but it didn't feel like a big time promo from someone that just won the top title.

When Rhino was in TNA, all I heard was people bashing him saying he was garbage, left over ECW guys, and needed to let to of the past and go away. He shows up in NXT and gets a strong reaction and everyone loves him again? Is it really where people wrestle that determines how they are perceived? Personally, I have no interest in seeing Rhyno in NXT. It looks like he is there to work with Finn Balor though. I assume we'll get one match between KO and Balor and that'll branch off to Balor vs Rhyno.

Blake & Murphy vs SWAFT just reinforces that the Tag Division is the weakest division. Not an NXT thing though since it's all of WWE.

Adrian Neville has really improved on the mic since I started watching.

Can't say I was impressed with this new debut of Crowe, or whatever his NXT name will be. The crowd chanted crowe, but the announcers were confused by what was happening. Definitely wasn't the hot debut of recent names like Owens, Balor, or Itami. But we'll see where he goes.

After watching Raw this week and seeing Paige have her ring gear stolen and have to wrestle in a clown dress, I really hope one of my favorites, Sasha Banks, stays in NXT for a very long time. I don't want to see "she's rachet" be a serious storyline on Raw where they try to make Sasha seem ugly (like they are trying to make Paige seem ugly...and she is gorgeous!) I'll keep wrestling angles that lead to wrestling matches over that silliness on Raw, thank you.

KO vs Neville was a fantastic TV match. Kevin Owens is good at hitting that pop up power bomb randomly, which is saying something. How random can a powerbomb be, right? Definitely a match you'd want to look up and watch if you skipped the show!
