STAY HYPED!!!
I forgot D-Lo was still with WWE. I was a fan of D-Lo when he was with the Nation and his solo run after it. But this run with WWE didn't seem to go well for him. He didn't have the crowd behind him, didn't get any mic time to get the crowd behind him, and only worked like 3 televised matches. :-/

I thought Val's job was more secure. Thought he was a backstage agent or something. He's another guy that was great to watch during his first run. I even liked his RTC stuff. But he never seemed the same after he went back to being Val Venis after the RTC angle dropped. He was a good worker, but never seemed to get over after the Val Venis gimmick ran its course.

Don't care about Bam Neely at all.

He was doing pretty good as Chief Morley. :)

I had to google it because I completely forgot about that angle. Even after reading the re-cap, I don't really remember it.

Does anyone know why Val wasn't a more of a presence for WWE? He could easily have been a mid-carder on Raw or SD! or even *shudders* ECW Champion. Instead, he played the role of occasional jobber, only being seen on TV maybe twice a year. Did he sustain an injury that caused him to stop wrestling? Did he piss someone off? Or maybe he just wanted to stop wrestling and work backstage?

Plus he had moved to a backstage position as an agent.

I think it was just creative reasons. And them preferring to build a new superstar than use a proven lower card superstar.

So I wonder if there's any chance of him popping up in TNA or...somewhere else.

He should go somewhere else. He is one of the few guys with talent that I think the WWE really dropped the ball on. As Val Venis, he was really pretty over. He could have been built up more.

While it has yet to be confirmed Kevin Thorn is telling people via the WWE Universe site that he has indeed been released.

Gerweck.net

Mike Johnson reports that former WWE referee and recent producer Tim White has been released. White's referee career was ended in 2002 during the Chris Jericho vs Triple Hell in the Cell match. White is also known for the 2005 Gerweck.net "worst angle of the year" where he tried to commit suicide over and over again.

I thought Tim White had already left like right after that suicide angle? Wow.

I thought he died!

Oh, come on, it was funny!

Anyway, none of these are surprising. Especially Val Venis. When I read the headline on a website that an "Established WWE Star Released" I knew it was him. Still sucks. He was great. I don't know why everyone likes him (including me) but it was something about his character. But he would have never worked in today's company. Instead of saying "Hello, ladies," he would have to change it to "ladies and gentlemen" or something.

BTW, is Kevin Thorn the vampire guy or the one who has been beating down Rey Mysterio?

The former vampire who used to team with Ariel.

The guy who is beating up Rey is Mike Knox.

Ooooooohhhhh... I uh... knew that... :shifty:

I don't know why I got them confused. Has Thorn even been on TV in like the last year? I thought he got released already, that's why I thought they meant the other guy.

Shocked about Venis really, although he wasn't getting much time on TV due to injury.

World Wrestling Entertainment has released both Sgt. Slaughter and Ron Simmons.

Slaughter had bee working as a producer for the company for quite a few years, and made occasional appearances in ring and on camera.

Ron Simmons, who made sporadic TV appearances with his “Damn” gimmick and did some promo work for WWE in the last year.

Source.

Wow. Never thought either one of them would go away. Figured they had as close to a permanent spot in the back as possible, especially with Slaughter.

Yeah, Slaughter is a huge shock to me considering how long he has been with the company. Guess it shows that no one is safe.

NOT SLAUGHTER!

:(

Why not release someone with no talent who costs the company a bucketload. Like Batista, for instance.

Batista is younger and a draw.

Slaughter is a shock for me.

WWE referee Mickey Henson and Matt Cappotelli have been released from their World Wrestling Entertainment contracts. Henson, who used to work in WCW as Mickie Jay, has been away on medical leave.

Cappotelli won his WWE contract on WWE Tough Enough season 3 on MTV (the same season that John Morrison won). He has been inactive since being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in 2006. Matt had the tumor removed in May 2007.

I'm disappointed that they decided to pull the trigger on Cappotelli. They were awfully nice to keep them signed for as long as they did, especially since he was sidelined with cancer for so long, though. I have a feeling he'll jump over to ROH once he recovers.

WWE's recent cuts of talent, agents, TV production, WWE.com, and Vince McMahon's limo driver will save the company $8 million annually. The general opinion of the release of 10% of the company's staff is not that the company is in bad shape, but an acknowledgment that having 400+ employees was unnecessary.

The limo driver...

From a potential feud with the Undertaker, back to developmental and now a one-way ticket to the unemployment line…

According to Pwinsider.com WWE has released Hade Vansen. Back in December a video package for a new character, to be played by Vansen, debuted on Smackdown. But shortly after the character was dropped.

Vansen was going to be put into an angle with the Undertaker, but Vince McMahon made the call to drop the angle and the character completely because McMahon didn't want an unproven developmental talent being put into a major angle before he had been tested.

Michael Hayes was the man behind the angle, which was to create a new nemesis for the Undertaker. Kevin Thorn and developmental talent Black Pain were to be associated with the new character, but they were told at last week's TV that the angle and their new character had been scrapped.

Vansen was to portray a dark character that would have "cult" overtones, with Thorn and Pain being paired with him. Vansen has been with WWE since 2007, when he was signed to a developmental deal, but missed the better part of a year with a severe knee injury.

If they're going to fire people, fire Vladimir's Kozlov's ass.

Don't forget the rest of him! We don't need an ass-less Koslov in WWE, either!

I wouldn't mind seeing Manu and Sim Snuka go to TNA get released... :whistling:

The releases weren't bad from a production standpoint. I say the same thing about Val Venis as well, because although he was a cult favorite to all of us, he wasn't needed. Slaughter was a HUGE surprise, though. As was Prichard when they got rid of him. Those were two really unexpected ones.

In reality, they should probably release a hell of a lot more people.

Maybe then they could un-clutter the rosters, avoid scenarios such as with Vansen (where they put the spotlight on the guy, take it away, and toss him away cause he's easily replaced), and strengthen the overall product as a whole.

That could also lead to a roster merge, which they really need because honestly, do they really need two (three if you count ECW) world champions for one company? To be a world champion mean nothing compared to what they used to mean (it doesn't help that everyone is becoming world champ half a dozen times).
