It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
Something had to push Del Rio to end up slapping the guy. Was it more than just a racist remark?

BTW, Konnan has tweeted over Del Rio's firing and racism in WWE.

LOP

- Former WWE and WCW star Konnan has been tweeting about Alberto Del Rio's WWE departure and how Rey Mysterio is currently tied up in a contract dispute with the company. Konnan says they would love to have Del Rio in Mexico's AAA promotion and want to talk with him after he's completely free from WWE.

Here are some of Konnan's tweets:

"Should be no surprise what happened to Del Rio..There has always been rampant racism in the industry from subtle to obvious..‪#‎Putos‬"

"@WWE u released @RRWWE u fucked @VivaDelRio now ‪#‎Free‬ @reymysterio #Putos ‪#‎NoValenVergs‬"

"Ray deserves more respect, he's given WWE everything bar the kitchen sink ‪#‎FreeRey‬"

Konnan also tweeted Cody Barbierri, the WWE.com social media worker that reportedly made a racist remark to Del Rio, leading to Del Rio assaulting him and then being released. Konnan wrote:

"@CodyBarbierri don't even think by a longshot this is over..‪#‎RazaIsWatching‬ ‪#‎Cuidate‬"

Another fan asked Konnan how does he know that the whole Del Rio incident isn't a work. He replied:

"because i talked to ADR and racism is still rampant in the industry"

I can't take anything Konnan says seriously. He's a guy that always seems to use racism as the reason for everything.

I hate when people like Wanda Sykes or Tony Cox do that. I know it's meant to be funny but it really annoys me and it's basically the same joke over and over again. "oh just cause I'm black means I gotta ____" god damn I hate that lol

BTW, Del Rio will appear in AAA's TripleMania this Sunday.

How does WWE's 90-days non-compete clause work? If he gets fired, can he appear on a foreign (non-USA) PPV?

During the recent talent cuts from WWE, there was some concern that both Lilian Garcia and Tony Chimel would be released from the WWE. It was believed that cheaper ring announcers would be hired in their place. The two are currently still employed with the company as of now.

Thank God this didn't happen.

WWE has chosen to not exercise its option to renew ring announcer Justin Roberts' contract. Effective immediately, Roberts is released from WWE.

WWE wishes him the best in all his future endeavors.

Justin Roberts was indeed informed of his WWE departure after last night's RAW in Atlanta. He was informed by his superior Kevin Dunn. There's a feeling now that Lilian Garcia will start doing RAW while Eden will do ring announcing for SmackDown. Byron Saxton's name was also mentioned as he may be doing some ring announcing coming up.

Speaking of Roberts, there was talk among fans at RAW on social media last night that Roberts was seen yelling at Michael Cole during the Dolph Ziggler vs. Randy Orton match. A fan noted that Roberts also flipped Cole off. As noted, WWE chose not to renew Roberts' contract, that's why he was let go.
More on Justin Roberts' release. For the record, I always found him to be annoying.

Less than one hour after Raw finished taping Monday night in Atlanta, Georgia, WWE announced it would be releasing the show's main ring announcer Justin Roberts after the company elected to not exercise its option to renew his contract. According to Dave Meltzer on Wednesday in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Roberts initially told those close to him that it was strictly a business matter as both parties couldn't come to terms on money. Roberts, however, then said he was told by management that they had decided to go in a new direction with the ring announcing positions.

More on Roberts' release. Also, JBL denied the rumors about Roberts flipping off Cole.

The Great Khali is no longer featured on WWE.com’s list of active roster members, and his profile can be found in the WWE Alumni section. The 7-foot giant did not accompany the roster on the recent European tour after being at almost every WWE Live event in September and October, and has only made a handful of appearances on television in 2014.

While the company has not made an official announcement, this would seem to indicate that WWE has come to terms on the release of the Great Khali.

Khali (real name Dalip Singh Rana) is currently 42-years-old, and began his wrestling career in 2000 with All Pro Wrestling. After a brief stint with New Japan Pro Wrestling, he signed a developmental contract with Deep South Wrestling in 2006, and was brought to the WWE Smackdown on the first episode after WrestleMania 22. Within his first month on television, Khali squashed then-World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio, and defeated the Undertaker on PPV.
Leave the memories alone.

Regarding Justin Gabriel quitting WWE, word is that he decided at the final RAW before the Royal Rumble that he was leaving. Gabriel showed up for RAW that day like usual and once again officials had nothing for him. Gabriel decided he was going to leave the arena in the middle of the day and he did, with one person saying he went sight-seeing and another person saying he went sky-diving.

Gabriel returned to the arena a few hours later and there was still nothing for him to do that night. Gabriel decided right there that he didn't want to be in WWE any more. Gabriel then booked his flight home and in between connecting flights, received a phone call from WWE Talent Relations head Mark Carrano. Carrano told Gabriel that they had booked a RAW segment for him but couldn't find him anywhere in the arena. Gabriel reportedly told Carrano that he left the building and was quitting the company.

Obviously WWE officials were not happy with the way Gabriel walked out. It took him a few days but he was finally granted his release going into Royal Rumble weekend.

WWE officially released Rey Mysterio (a/k/a Oscar Gutierrez) from his contract and moved him to the alumni section on the company website.

More on that:

Quote:

Source: PWInsider Elite

As noted, WWE quietly moved Rey Mysterio to their Alumni section today and the company later confirmed that he is no longer with them.

There are rumors that Rey negotiated his release but PWInsider reports that his WWE contract actually expired and was not renewed. We've noted how there have been issues between Rey and WWE for some time. While expecting to leave the company, Rey was upset that WWE extended his previous deal because he was out of action for so long with injuries.

Rey will have no trouble finding work with other promotions. Konnan is already reportedly working on setting up dates for Mysterio and announcements could come as soon as tomorrow. There were plans for some kind of big reveal but news getting out today probably nixed those plans.

Word is that Rey will be doing a number of signing appearances but likely won't be wrestling right away. Rey is expected to wrestle for Lucha Underground but as of this afternoon, the two sides have not signed a new deal. Rey may be coming into Lucha Underground as the person who introduced Konnan to Lucha Underground Champion Prince Puma.

Rey will likely make his return to Mexico's AAA promotion at their March 15th Rey de Reyes event. AAA has announced a press conference for later this week and that could be where they announce Mysterio's return.

Mysterio is expected to ask for big money to make indie appearances.

Meltzer in today's daily update

Quote:

--Some notes on Rey Mysterio. The agreement was that WWE would announce Mysterio no longer being in the company today, although they actually confirmed it yesterday. There will be announcements imminently on Mysterio, but he is expected to wrestle for Lucha Underground and AAA, with AAA holding a press conference on Tuesday. He is charging $20,000 per appearance on the indie scene. Most expected him to charge $15,000 although indie promoter did estimate that you could gross about $25,000 for photos and autographs with him right now and make money but that at some point he won't be able to get that much.

Phew... $20k? I can't see a ton of places being willing to pay that kind of cash per appearance for a guy who can't really go like he used to.

The guy definitely has a name but that is a lot of money for an indy fed to cough up for one appearance. Most of the "names" from the mainstream they book tend to be a few grand, from what I've always heard.

Making $5k profit might be worth it, though, although that's taking a huge risk that the $20k investment on one guy will pay off.

In other words, I don't think we'll be seeing Rey Rey in any gymnasiums and bingo halls anytime soon.

Well, it is best to oversell yourself at first instead of underselling. Right? He can always lower his price, but if he starts out with a low price, it's unlikely he could raise it that high again.
