That's the second time I confused someone with Tom Phillips in the same amount of days. I only even know who Tom Phillips is because to me he looks like a clone of Todd Pettengil not because I know what he does. So I guess Edwards and the other guy who was released were a step below him.

Canadians know him. He came from the same sports channel as Renee Young.

That's right, I remember him saying that before. There was someone else who always called Renee by her real last name (? maybe her other stage name?) she used while on Canadian TV.

These two releases does pose the question though...does WWE have way too many broadcasters on their payroll? It makes sense since they have so much social media and network obligations, but at the same time it seems like they are extremely easy to get rid of. I remember when there were shows like Heat, Jakked, Velocity, Metal, what have you, and there would be voices that seemed nothing more than either filler or maybe ones WWF were trying to train into something bigger. Checking on some Instagrams though, there are some who were hired for specific segments on the website, including this one woman I never heard of in my life who hosts something about WWE gossip or some shit. Then there are guys like Scott Stanford who only do this part time, and in reality this isn't even his actual job; he does the local sports segments for the NYC metro WPIX. There are way too many people who are expendable.

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
Surprised Adam Rose and Ryback didn't joined the firing list today.

Who says they won't? It's still relatively early on in the day. I'm expecting at least a few more names to be added to the list within the next few hours.

8 people fired might be enough for today, but I agree that the day isn't over yet.

I'm glad Sandow and Barret were released. They can do far better things in other promotions. WWE isn't the big leagues if they can't book you worth a damn. Good for them. Fuck WWE.

Sandow was a decent sidekick, but not a great singles star. Barrett was fine, but made of glass. Glad they're both gone.

Also neither of them are surprising based on how outspoken they've been on Twitter recently. I think also Cameron posted a response to people bashing Ryback for his comments made earlier in the week. It could have been the other girl though. I don't really remember because I don't care either way.

I'm sure they got a couple dollars stuffed in their piggy bank. They'll be okay for a bit. ;) Didn't Sandow request his release? Thought I read that somewhere.

I don't think it's a bad thing though. With some of the names considered, one may think that now they are free to find a place that will better suit them, or like Barrett, go do something else for awhile.

NCR is my bud but I never let craziness slide. None of these guys can do better elsewhere. There is no elsewhere. WWE, good booking or bad booking is the big leagues weather you like it or not. You can be a 10X champion in TNA or ROH and it don't matter a damn. WWE is where it is at and the next best thing is NXT, also WWE. Sorry for that truth bomb brutha.

On a sidenote I enjoyed the work of Damian Sandow. Especially is first character. His Mizdow character was shit but he took that shit and made it gold. The problem was there was no way to book a proper outcome of the hype he was getting. Because let's face it he's just an average wrestler.

Would have never been great but could have been way more. Sorry to see him go

I don't necessarily agree with that from a creative standpoint. After awhile, a lot of wrestlers start to become that "starving artist" where they have the talent to do something, but aren't give the chance. Just being in the WWE gives them an opportunity to come into any other company with the focus being on them, which will allow them to be more of themselves and have more creative freedom. It also lets them sign for a higher rate than they would have otherwise. I believe after Del Rio was fired he was making as much in Mexico as he was in WWE, and being away for awhile was able to revitalize his career and give him bragging rights once WWE called his name again.

For those asking about whether there are more releases coming, the word making the round internally in the company is the answer to that is yes. There was an expectation among some that there would be additional releases coming before the end of the month.

While WWE has yet to announce it, PWInsider has confirmed that the company released Steve Lombardi, better known as the Brooklyn Brawler. Lombardi had been with the company for over thirty years and is perhaps the most famous enhancement talent of all-time.

Lombardi also worked under several other gimmicks including Abe “Knuckleball” Schwartz and Kim Chee over the years, and while he made rare appearances on camera over the years he was mostly used in a backstage role where he oversaw and produced promos. The site notes that Lombardi was the person that every talent had to cut promos for when trying out and he was influential in determining whether the talent would get looked at in a bigger way.
Damn.

i am reading that Christian was also released, but i am a little confused to what extent. i am reading he was released from his active wrestler contract, which makes sense since he is considered retired and hasnt wrestled in several years now. but apparently he is still under contract to do the "edge and christian show that totally sucks but they say it reeks of awesomeness but in reality just reeks"

There's a rumor going around that Lillian Garcia has been released, as well. I haven't seen any official report regarding her status with the company yet, though.

Lilian said on Twitter that she will appear next week. She also mentioned a sick family member that she took care of, if I'm not mistaken.

As previously reported, Court Bauer on MLW Radio claimed that Lilian Garcia was released by WWE, but this turned out to not be the case. Garcia actually was away from WWE to tend to her ailing father who is battling cancer, and she later released a statement confirming she was not released. During a recent edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed the story and the backstage talk that was circulating regarding Garcia.

According to Meltzer, many people in the WWE reportedly believed that Garcia was fired from the company. However, Meltzer also said he was getting contradicting reports from other people backstage, who said Garcia was still employed by WWE. Meltzer said he was told that a few more stars could be released by WWE after the recent round of Superstars who were let go. This reportedly led Meltzer into believing that Garcia could be one of those getting released.

According to Lilian Garcia, she will be at Raw tomorrow.

Not that I would ever wish ill on anyone, but I do think it's time for a new ring announcer of Raw. There's a rumor going around that WWE is looking to sign Melissa Santos. She would be a welcome addition over Lillian.

One of the worst decisions WWE made in recent memory was separating Ricardo Rodriguez from ADR. There was literally zero reason for splitting them up. Such a travesty.
