Who's Mickie James? She was always one of the least interesting divas, and always played second fiddle to the likes of Candice Michelle, Maria & Torrie Wilson imo

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
The best Mickie James had going for her was the storyline with Trish Stratus heading into WM22. Crowd liked Mickie James too. I think she used to get the better reaction compared to most of the WWE Divas.

I was really not expecting Benjamin or Mickie to be let go. I guess Haas will be happy. Now all they have to do is get rid of Matt Hardy.

I'm actually really sad about Mike Knox getting released. I always had a soft spot for the guy, and enjoyed nearly all of his matches. At times, Knox reminded me a bit of Bruiser Brody. He was probably the best brawler in the entire company. It's a real shame that WWE never did much with the guy.

The only thing i liked about Knox was his cross body. Apart from that, i really couldn't care.

I just watched SD! and it's funny that when they showed the promo for the Diva's match coming up, Striker said something about Mickie. I forget what it was but it had something to do with her being the face of the Diva's or something. It made me lolz anyway.

As we reported earlier, WWE.com announced they were wishing Tony Atlas "all the best in all future endeavors" and releasing him. Atlas, a WWE Hall Of Famer, had basically disappeared off the WWE radar since the cancellation of ECW, where he was co-host of "The Abraham Washington Show." He did make one appearance on Smackdown during a backstage bit with Jack Swagger following ECW getting the axe, but otherwise hadn't been used. While his release did not come as a surprise to many, at least a few within the company are sorry to see him go, and felt he could have been used in a comedy role on Raw with the guest hosts, an option WWE never explored.

HoF means nothing to the bottom line.

Tony Atlas was awesome with Abraham Washington. I'm actually a bit disappointed to see him go.

- The feeling is that the WWE releases came because several stars from NXT and WWE developmental are scheduled to be brought to the main roster soon. The recent releases aren't a budget-cutting move as much as just WWE making way for new members on the roster.

Shelton Benjamin's contract was releasing soon and there was always frustration internally with him. Shelton had the reputation of being one who coasted through the job and that his promos were never as good as his in-ring work.

Mickie James' release from WWE didn't surprise many within the company. Apparently there was talk of cutting her before WrestleMania. Word is that while on the SmackDown brand, Mickie had a few run-ins with Batista and when things became heated, he threatened to quit if she wasn't fired and Undertaker had to step in and calm things down. It's said that Mickie's recent behavior on the European tour was the deciding factor in letting her go.

It's said that Mike Knox didn't carry himself like a main eventer backstage but he still had his share of supporters within WWE. At one point, Shawn Michaels and Triple H were among those in favor of pushing Knox.

There was speculation online that Jimmy Wang Yang's release came after a Wellness violation because he Tweeted "three strikes and your out" after being released. Yang was referring to his third time being fired from the company.

Katie Lea's release was not something planned in advance because the WWE creative team had her booked to move to SmackDown in the Draft.

It's said that Slam Master J, son of the late Terry Gordy, mainly had a job because SmackDown head writer Michael Hayes considered him almost like a son. His release came as a bit of a surprise to some because Hayes had always protected him.

The Connecticut Post reports that WWE fan Zavr Peygumbari, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested last week after he called WWE headquarters over twenty times with threats to blow up the company's office and harm staff members. Zavr was upset that WWE released former Women's Champion Mickie James.

Zavr was arrested last Friday and arraigned yesterday at state Superior Court in Stamford, CT. Zavr's next court date will be on May 25th. He was originally held over the weekend in Stamford on a $250,000 bond but released on a $5,000 bond Monday. His lawyer describes him as a "fervent wrestling fan" who did not intend to follow through on his threats. Court records show that New York City police know Zavr as being emotionally disturbed.

During his arraignment on Monday, the angry WWE fan apologized for the phone calls and called them foolish & childish. Zavr allegedly threatened to blow up WWE's offices and said he would visit the building with a machete and a machine gun. The phone calls began on April 24th and continued through April 27th. Nineteen calls were made by Zavr on April 24th with a handful of calls made over the next few days. During one call, Zavr threatened to kill an un-named WWE employee and his family. The phone calls were traced back to a cell phone that Zavr had.

Zavr has been charged with four counts of fourth-degree threatening, one count of second-degree harassment and two counts of second-degree threatening.

The judge told Zavr on Monday that he could not contact WWE employees, go near it's offices in Stamford or attend any events. Zavr's actual response to this in front of the courtroom: "I'm not allowed to go to wrestling shows?"

Talk about taking wrestling way too seriously.

They must have a lot of faith in these NXT jokers if they're brooming half a dozen guys for them. Sorry, but I highly doubt they're all going to be better than, say, Benjamin. In either verbal or physical skills, say nothing of both.

Yoshi Tatsu has claimed in a blog post that Funaki was released from WWE due to a nagging neck injury and that the former WWE star actually asked for his release.

Funaki is currently 41-years old, so I can't say that I'm surprised to hear that he had some injuries bugging him. Word going around, though, is that Funaki recently signed a deal with ZERO1, so maybe he's not thinking about taking time off or hanging up the boots after all.

WWE has announced the release of Carlito Colon. "Carlito's termination was due to his first violation of the WWE Wellness Program and due to his subsequent refusal to attend a rehabilitation facility. To read the full post, check out WWE.com.

Whoa. Released for first offense. Must have been something serious.

Just as the idiot starts into a new program. The Colons just reunited last week as a tag team, and now this knucklehead goes and gets himself fired.

All signs are pointing to Primo getting the shaft, as well. However, I just remembered that WWE recently signed another Colon brother, Tito, recently. He's been working in FCW, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him jump to the main roster soon to reform the Colon Brothers team with Primo as opposed to Carlito.

Mickie James: I've heard readers and fans refer to Mickie's release as "shocking" or very "surprising". This isn't the case. Mickie's release was widely expected in many inner circles within WWE. She had heat for months over issues with her weight as well as her interests outside of wrestling. Producers told her multiple times she needed to lose weight and eventually Vince McMahon and the creative team came up with the "Piggy James angle" almost as a humbling of sorts. Mickie was known backstage for having dramatic behavior that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. There were incidents on the most recent overseas tour where she ran late, thus holding the entire crew up and the decision was made to cut her from the roster. WWE management felt like Mickie was simply "going through the motions" to keep her name in the limelight while she pursued a career as a country music singer. WWE didn't like the fact she was pursuing a career outside of the business and when she hired an agent (for music) the writing was on the wall regarding her professional wrestling career.

Shelton Benjamin: Shelton had a good reputation backstage and was seen as a great worker. WWE creative couldn't find anything for him which is why he was deemed expendable and released. Benjamin was a staple in the Money in the Bank ladder match at Wrestlemania over the past several years but the company struggled to keep him in storylines and find TV time for him. He literally is a guy the company "had nothing for" which lead to his release.

Kung Fu Naki: Kung Fu Naki was a career enhancement talent. He was well respected backstage for accepting his role in the company. Funaki was a savvy veteran that did not care to offer advice to younger workers. I'm actually surprised he wasn't offered some type of role as a producer backstage but his run as an enhancement talent just basically ran out.

Jimmy Wang Yang: There are rumors going around Wang Yang's release was Wellness related. He only had one public violation so I'm unable to confirm what else happened. Wang Yang was another guy there wasn't much for from a creative standpoint and it was easier to release him than it was to carry his downside.

Slam Master J: Just as with his tag team partner Wang Yang, there wasn't anything for Slam Master J from a creative standpoint. The office didn't feel the Slam Master J gimmick ever got over at the level it was intended for which lead to his small mid-card push stalling. The plan last year was to break up Slam Master J and Festus and push them both as singles workers. Festus' gimmick as Luke Gallows has gotten over with CM Punk thus he's receiving a good rub in the top of the card.

Katie Lea Burchill: I'm actually surprised Katie Lea was on the roster for as long as she was after the release of her storyline "brother" Paul Burchill. Katie Lea is a prime example of plans changing. Prior to WWE PG programming, the company had written out a storyline where Katie Lea and Paul Burchill were "brother" and "sister" yet romantically involved with one another. Under the new PG initiative, the storyline was dropped and both struggled to find a spot in the company. The plans in WWE as far as the Divas are to push the newer workers such as Eve Torres.

The story that Carlito was released for refusing to enter a rehabilitation facility is reportedly true, although contrary to the public's assumption, it was not based on a Wellness Policy test failure.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Carlito reportedly showed up at this week's RAW in "no condition to perform." He was told he needed to go to rehab, "and he refused, so they fired him."

The story says that Carlito denied he had a problem, forcing WWE to pull the trigger on the release.

It should be noted that WWE's statement only said that "Carlito’s termination was due to his first violation of the WWE Wellness Program" and not that he specifically failed a test.

Hmm, maybe he had a drinking problem?

Carlos Colon was interviewed for the sports section of Puerto Rico's Primera Hora newspaper for an article about Carlito's release from the WWE. Here are some notable quotes (translated from Spanish):

-On what drug he was using: "I want to clarify that, contrary to internet and message board rumors, he did not tested positive for marihuana, cocaine, heroin or any of those drugs. He was tested because they suspected he was abusing painkillers and it proved to be true. Painkillers are somewhat of a necessary evil for pro wrestlers because of the pain and the constant travel. He started taking one or two when he broke his arm some years ago and then it seems he went out of control when he started having issues with his back. He needs help."

-On his firing : "He was offered an opportunity to go to rehab
, but he refused because he doesn't believe he has a problem or at least he feels it is not an issue. He was fired because he refused, even if this was his first violation of the Wellness Policy".

-On Carlito's future: "His mom already left Puerto Rico for Houston (where Carlito lives) and she is going to spend some time with him. Eddie (Primo), Orlando (Tito Colon in FCW) and I are doing everything we can to pressure him into going to rehab and admit he has a problem. This is something that he needs to admit to himself and improve and get out of that situation. If he goes to rehab and successfully completes the program he would be reinstated, he would get his job back".

-On WWC Anniversary Show: "This situation hurts us because the main event was going to be Carlito against El Mesias. Now those plans are out of the window because if Carlito goes to rehab he can't participate. We will find a suitable replacement. I have to put the health of my son ahead of any main event match or any show."

Carlito's father Carlos Colon was interviewed by Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia. Some highlights:

- Carlito chose not to go to rehab, but he has stopped taking the painkillers as he is now pain-free.

- Carlito and his mother are living in his Texas home, and he is back to working out in the gym.

- Carlos thinks Carlito should go wrestle in Puerto Rico for a while before returning to the WWE and the hectic schedule.

- Carlos adds that Carlito asked for time off from WWE several times but was denied.

I think everyone was on some sort of contract do to the NXT invasion. If Daniel Bryan is released then I don't think we'll see Bryan Danielson since they are the same person.

This comes as a surprise since there it seems that there was alot of confusion on whether he was going to remain with the company or not.

Supposedly he was going to be in a feud with Miz and win the US belt before plans changed and Hart won it instead. There has got to be alot more to this.

Atleast the last vision we see of Bryan is him spitting on Cena which is basically spitting on WWE I guess. Alot of what was going in the past 2-3 weeks was basically a worked shoot but maybe it got blown out of proportion.

But hey anything is possilble so this could be to lead the IWC on.
