Jim Ross

#UFCBoston @FOXSports1 @ufc 'won' tonight while battling @nfl playoffs. Excellent idea..

Josh Matthews

Why anyone would say @ufc "won" the night over @nfl is beyond me. Please, stop. It's not a fair fight. If you are over 60, just go away.

Jim Ross

@realjoshmathews @ufc @nfl ... That's a little stiff re: my remark. I'm over 60 & not going away. Didn't expect this from you.

Josh Matthews

.@JRsBBQ It was stiff, I get that. Sometimes you gotta call it like you see it.

Jim Ross

Anyone who thinks I meant @NFL is less than @UFC when j said UFC 'won' Sun NITE is ignorant. UFC Programming experiment worked. @NFL=Big Dog

I'm not sure what to make of this. Legitimate beef between the two? Playful jabs? A misunderstanding? Guess we'll see as they continue.

This Twitter exchange is far from being what I would call a "war." Either way, who cares? It's not like J.R. and Mathews work for the same company anymore.

True, but Josh Matthews does work for the company that has been trying to recruit J.R. Not to mention Josh Matthews is the new voice of TNA and is telling arguably the greatest announcer in wrestling to step aside. Doesn't look good. Whether this was a one off thing that was specifically about a UFC/NFL comparison or runs deeper remains to be seen. It could very well be nothing. It could be the start of something interesting. We'll see.

Meltzer said Josh was looking to take a shot at JR because he's pissed about JR's podcast with Dixie and thinks that he is angling for the TNA announcing job.

Why would JR need to angle for the position when he pretty much could have it any day he wanted it? Does anyone think Dixie would ever say no to Jim Ross?
