Legitimate Shoot Fight Breaks Out During STARDOM Main Event

Source: Cheap-Heat (for article pieces, but story is getting around all over)

During the main event of the February 22nd, 2015 STARDOM live event, a match between the champion Yoshiko and Act Yasukawa for the World of Stardom Title Match, a legitimate fight broke out between the two women. The brawl resulted in the referee stopping the match, after Act Yasukawa was unable to continue.

Act Yasukawa suffered a broken orbital bone and nose. Reports say that from the beginning of the match Yoshiko was on the attack, and targeted the right eye of Act. It should be noted that Act Yasukawa has a known history of problems with that eye, resulting in recent surgery to repair damage.

One viewer who watched the event said the following:

"It (the match) started normal-ish but Yoshiko was pretty much shooting from the beginning so it quickly degenerated. Act kept trying to bring it back on track since they were in the main event but every time she did she’d just get legit beaten down. The ref asked Stardom’s owner, who was at ringside, if they should stop the match but he ordered it to continue (which it did, until Kimura threw the towel in for Act).

Yoshiko was clearly targeting the right eye. She rolled Act over a couple times just to get at it.

Just a quick note, this whole thing lasted maybe six or seven minutes at most, but it felt like an eternity. I really have no idea why Kyohei Wada didn’t just make a judgment call and stop it on his own without consulting anybody; he’s a veteran ref and has surely seen this type of situation before."

Reports from the event say that apparently even after all of that Act still had to be forcibly taken to the back because she still wanted to finish the main event. She could be heard yelling "I’m a pro wrestler!" as she was being carried out."

It has been said that there was some previous heat between the two, but not much information exactly as to what it was about.

As of right now no further details on the incident have become available.

I know nothing about the company or the women involved but this story has been making the rounds on some news sites and message boards. There's a graphic image of Yasukawa post beat down with the obviously injured orbital bone that gets posted with it most times, too.

There's a video of the incident (three and a half minutes in) where the shoot basically starts right away. I know nothing about it but man, is it nasty.

All I can help think other than hoping Yasukawa can heal up fine and isn't left with any long term damage is that how utterly massive this would be if it happened in a US company.

There is no such thing as an orbital bone. Unless I am looking in the wrong place, that looks to me like an injured zygomatic bone.

At 1:13 is a god damn beautiful elbow drop. She sells it as if her elbow is the heaviest thing on her body.

The "orbital bone" is an alternative term for the "orbit", which is a collective term for the bones around the eye socket, similar to how we use the term "skull" as a collective term for the bones that make up our head.

It might not be the most accurate, but its a simpler term to use for a general area of the body. Its similar to how if the average person was to get injured, they'd be more likely to say "I think I broke my leg" rather than "I think I broke my femur". Its not the most accurate and specific term, but its a lot easier.

I was looking into this story more after posting this and apparently Act Yasukawa has had lifelong issues with her right eye. Yoshiko targeting that eye as much as she did takes an even darker turn after finding that out.

That's Kairi Hojo. Best elbow drop in the biz.

If I'm taking anything positive away from this, its that I want to see more joshi stuff.

I've already been loving Kana and Hikaru Shida since I first found out about them last year, but all the links and gifs I've been seeing around this story and inspired by this story just makes me realize that I'm really missing out on something good.

Ah, but don't you see, the fact that we had confusion here is what makes proper anatomical names necessary. Ambiguity breeds medical disasters.

Use the proper terminology around me, boy.

As of today, Stardom announced that they are suspending Yoshiko indefinitely. She has also been stripped of the World of Stardom Championship. :tu:

That's a good thing to hear. I was a bit worried she'd receive a slap on the wrist at best. That kind of unprofessionalism shouldn't exist in pro wrestling today. Its one aspect of the older days and the mentality of then that is very much better left in the past.

I'm still curious what caused it. I know little to nothing about the history of any of this, so I'm wondering if it was a personal issue between them, or if she was told to shoot on her. The whole thing about the company owner at ringside saying the match should continue when it was obvious that the match had devolved into a one-sided shoot and would have kept going if the towel hadn't been thrown in makes it seem a little shady.
