After asking for his release from TNA Wrestling, many speculated regarding a possible home for former world champion Samoa Joe. Today, it was revealed that Joe will be returning to Ring of Honor.

Joe is set for a television taping in Baltimore on March 7, as well as events on March 13 & 14 in Milwaukee and Chicago. He'll also be on Supercard of Honor in Redwood, City, California on March 27.

Joe's last appearance for ROH was in 2008 against the current Seth Rollins. Ring of Honor posted a video hyping Samoa Joe's return to the company, which you can see above.

Samoa Joe wrestled for the company for over five years, capturing the ROH World Championship, in addition to the ROH Pure championship. Despite being under contract to TNA, Joe has also performed for Wrestle-1 and Jersey All Pro Wrestling in the past year.

Meltzer said on today's Observer radio that Joe has gotten offers from WWE, AAA, Lucha Underground and New Japan. He was specific in saying he didn't know what the offer from WWE was. If it is a standard developmental deal for little money like they offered AJ Styles it is probably equivalent to no offer at all. But perhaps they have more interest in Joe than they had in AJ.

The former TNA Heavyweight Champion (Samoa Joe) spoke with ChadDukesWrestling.com and said he's never been shy about new endeavors, and could see himself maybe joining the WWE someday and starting in NXT.

"I've never shied away from an opportunity to prove myself," Joe said. "Every promotion I've ever worked for, initially when I started out, never wanted me. I remember my first Ring of Honor show and [Gabe Sapolsky. Former ROH booker] told me, 'Hey listen, we can't afford a flight out from California every month, so it will probably be a one-off deal.' And then walking back through the curtain after that first match and him going, 'you're on every show.' I think when you do get to the point where you're not willing to go out there and prove what you can do, I understand guys they feel strongly a certain way, that's fine, I think it's individual for everybody, but I know for me I've never shied away from an opportunity to prove myself anywhere."

He continued: "I've always firmly believed that you can't deny talent and cream always rises to the top. Those are two things you always hear cliches among all sports not just pro wrestling and it's something that I firmly believe. At the end of the day, if you've got it you're going to get there. You've got to find the opportunities, the doors and the windows you can find and do what you need to do."

Meltzer on The Board on the chances of Joe to WWE and what they offered AJ Styles:

Quote:

Really, WWE did pass on AJ.

A $60,000 a year offer is an insult to a guy coming off a $400,000 year and who was fixing to make close to that at worst on the free market.

That's as close to a pass without just ignoring the call completely.

Hey, maybe they figured they blew it with the last guy who shoved that $60,000 a year offer up their ass by outperforming everyone on their roster in 2014.

There are people who quietly learn not to make the same mistake twice.

I know that's rare in wrestling tho.

And not only can AJ make that kind of money on the indies, but he has the kind of personal and creative freedom WWE would have never allowed him.

I'd love to see Samoa Joe in NXT just because that's where the great action and best pro wrestling is in the mainstream, but I think I'd much rather see him following the AJ Styles route.

As an aside, Samoa Joe has also been announced to be at the ROH 13th anniversary show in Las Vegas this sunday. It just made that event even more interesting and definitely has underlined my excitement for it.

I'd love to see Samoa Joe in NXT ... but I think I'd much rather see him following the AJ Styles route.
Without joining the Bullet Club, though. I openly admit I'm not as familiar with the Bullet Club as others, but I've read a lot of people comparing it to the n.W.o. during the days when everyone was joining it and it'd been watered down to the point that it isn't appealing. I could be reading from people that just don't like the Bullet Club though.

Honestly, from what I've seen, I can see influences from the Four Horsemen and 90s D-Generation X in them as much as I can the nWo.

I think Samoa Joe would make for a great rival to the Bullet Club, especially if it meant plenty of match-ups against AJ Styles with whatever chains might have held them back in TNA now gone.

Samoa Joe is headed to WWE, according to Dave Meltzer in his latest audio report at f4wonline.com. He noted that there may not be a signed contract yet, but they’ve been negotiating and it looks like a deal will be made.

No word yet on whether he’ll be working in NXT before he goes to the main roster, where he’d have the pleasure of working with NXT head trainer Bill Demott.

Joe recently signed with Ring of Honor to work a handful of appearances. He’ll be wrestling 4 dates for ROH this month, with the final show taking place on March 27th, two days before WrestleMania 31. The last we saw, Joe had accepted indy bookings through April 23rd.

I remember reading somewhere that April 23rd is the date of the next NXT live special. Interesting.
