So I got like 3 hrs sleep on Wednesday night/ Thursday morning. Then I was awake from 7 am Thursday morning until 2 am Saturday morning. That was 43 hours without sleep after getting only three before that little run. Saturday I slept from 2 am until around 9 am. Then I also got in a 1 hour nap around 4 pm. Now It's almost 3 am and here I am again.
I feel like this will be me when my kids are born.

I absolutely cannot do that. However, I've noticed a trend where I will fall asleep on a Saturday afternoon (I sleep in the afternoons during the week) and wake up the next morning, giving me sometimes 12-14 hours of sleep. I even missed an afternoon shift I volunteered to work on a Sunday last month because I fell asleep at 2, the shift started at 5:30, and I didn't wake up until almost 11. It's a great way to counteract all the afternoons I only sleep for 3 hours.

It ended up working out well though because I ended up with 36 hours anyway so I would have been cut on that Friday night if I had worked that Sunday. They know not to ask me any more because I am the only part time person who is "too close" to 40 hours each week to ask if I want to pick up an extra shift because they would have to send me home early at some point during the week so I don't hit overtime.

I believe the last time I slept in the morning regularly after work was 4-5 years ago when I would do the 4/4 split. The issue was that I would take one or two sleeping pills in the morning to sleep, so when I woke up around 11-12 I would be groggy until I eventually went back to sleep at 4-5 pm. It worked for awhile, but I noticed my sleep quality jump tremendously once I stopped trying to force myself to sleep when I came home. The only time I do that now is if we have one of those weird shifts where we come in without any work and are sent home an hour later (so I would be home by 1:30-2 am), which has only happened once in the last 3 months.

yeah, i get off around 7 a.m. and dont usually even try to lay down until 12 or 1 amd a lot of times i am not even tired then. but occassionally, i will have weird day where i just get dead tired immediately and fall asleep. i dont like doing that because i sometimes only end up doing a 30 min nap or an hour nap and practically never get to sleep again

My shift "ends" at 5 but I ususally stay until 6 or after because my managers give me as much leeway as I want since I work hard. A lot of times I'll want to take a quick nap after work, but because of caffeine, adrenaline, whatever the case, I always seem to get really weird dreams when I do that and wake up not knowing where I even am. So I tend to not do that anymore.

my shift is scheduled to end at 5:30 or 6:00 (depending if they are being dicks and cutting hours), but most mornings i dont clock out until after 7. the one small perk is that since my company does not do overtime, i have to cut those hours another day. i usually get to leave at like 3 am on friday mornings. once i left at 1 am. good day

How many pillows do you guys sleep with? I realize I have to have 3-4 on me at any one time...one between my legs, one around my stomach/chest to grab onto when I'm sleeping on my side (so my arms have someplace to go), one below my head, then one on top of it. I've been running with 3 lately since my fourth one ripped, so I have to fold my head pillow in half so it goes half under my head and half over.

6 pillows. queen size bed. break down as follows

2 pillows at the head of my bed as normal pillows. which i usually sleep under

2 pillows down the side of each bed so i can hug up to as i change position. one one each side so i dont have to keep grabbing for a pillow. these are those small square type pillows people usually have on their sofas. you know?

1 pillow between my knees. this is actually a contoured pillow designed for your knees or thighs. great pillow.

1 long flat pillow to keep over my head. i HAVE to have a pillow over my head to sleep. usually, i lay under my pillow but sometimes i sleep on my pillow. this flat pillow sucks as a pillow but is great to have over my head

i sleep with a lot of pillows 😂😂😂

So generally we have the exact same mechanisms but do you have a queen/king sized bed? I only have a twin and I feel like if I had 6 pillows on my bed everything would just end up flying of before I even shut my eyes.

yes, i have a queen size Trump serta memory foam mattress. it is awesome. my old bed was "standard" size, i guess. it was bigger than a twin but smaller than a queen. it was a spring mattress. it was a bed my grandma bought for me and i had it for maybe 15 years, maybe longer. the springs would pop everytime i moved. it was not comfortable. but i never could let myself buy a new one bc it was a gift from her and she is dead. unfortunately, i had to replace it. i grew too tall for the bed and the springs were bad. i gave the bed away to a family friend that was adopting someone and bought a queen mattress when they were on sale. good bed

When I was still at CVS I would periodically dog sit for one of my co workers before he moved to northern NJ. He eventually had a kid and turned his guest room into a baby room, but prior to that he had this amazing bed that was the most comfortable thing I've been on in my life. Between that and the room darkening shades (which I currently have but they aren't as good, also my bed is situated next to my windows), I got the best sleep I ever had in my life. When he had to transform the room, the bed ended up going to another one of my former co-workers so at least it's still being put to good use now.

i painted my windows with thick black paint. it is very easy to remove with a lade scrapper. but i understand that some people simply cannot paint their windows die to landlords or whatever. if i werent able to paint them, i would cover thwm with cardboard and duct tape. it would allow total darkness but simple enough to remove and replace if i wanted light in my room

One of my old co-workers used aluminum foil. It made conspiracy jokes against her so so easy.

Due to the unfortunate circumstances of this week, there was a stretch between Tuesday and Thursday where I had to forcefully stay up for about 47 hours straight. This was done using a copious amount of coffee and soda, and it was to the point where I had almost zero short term memory when I was at work. That means I couldn't remember the numbers of boxes, the aisles we were in, etc. Eventually I crashed Thursday afternoon, and since then, I've actually been sleeping way better than I have been within the last few months. Less pills, more time without waking up, etc. It's kind of a nice after effect of putting my body through that.
