This is the same exact shit that happened to me last year. After a forever and a half of sleeping only during the day and never at night, I kinda got back on a normal people's sleep schedule, especially since I've been having to wake up by 7:30 a.m. every morning for the last few weeks which has forced me to sleep earlier.

But now, with this new job starting, I'll be reporting most likely for a 1:30 a.m. start time. Now that time itself is whatever, but the weird part is that there are a few different shifts they run, and not one of them is a linear M-F schedule. I don't mind working weekends, but the issue will be with the program I'm in that IS M-F. So if I try to stay up all night on the nights I am off, it'll feel useless since I have to be awake and active all morning and half the afternoon anyway so I'd rather rest beforehand.

my messed up sleep isnt due to my work schedule tho. i have beem working this job for about 10 years now. i like the schedule. my messed up sleep has to do with both my parents' declining health and my worrying about whats about to happen

Half of mine from the last three years are from alcohol-related issues. Withdrawals or acute non-use causes insomnia, and before my problems ever became bad, having a drink or two right before bed helped put me to sleep and worked better generally at sleeping pills since I would be able to shut my brain's thinking off.

So it's only been very recently that I've been sleeping semi-decently, since I had a couple good streaks in the last year where I was sober, but working nights so I'd have to sleep during the day anyway. I would say it takes about 3 weeks of me not drinking to be able to sleep for more than 45 mins. at a time without waking up, so I'm well past that so I know any of my sleep issues right now aren't from that type of effects; it's just either restlessness or me being so used to being isolated at night and getting more things done like writing.

My problems have been ongoing for years and thus I have been unable to get good sleep for years. You know, if we are comparing...

Have you considered seeing a therapist or psychologist?

Here's a fun fact that'll help everyone with that insomnia:

A group of fox are called a leash. A leash of fox = Alicia Fox. Oh my god.

I got to sleep maybe 1:30-2:00 a.m. but got woken up four times by my cat. I have to leave my room's door open because if I don't he'll use it as a scratching pad until I do, but leaving it open causes him to come inside and run around and cry until he gets acknowledged. That asshole.

my dog is the same way. she is a chihauhau, so she is small. if i just shut my door, she will growl until she wakes me up. if i leave the door open, she will scratch and "bounce" on the side of the bed until she wakes me up to pick her up onto the bed. any time she hears anything, sje will jump down to investigate, meaning i have to pick her up again. i have tried putting something beside my bed so that she can jump onto that and then onto my bed. but nope

One weird thing my cat does is touch my foot with his paw, but he does it in a way where he isn't on my bed while doing it. He doesn't sleep on my bed at all (because it's too small, I'm assuming) which gets aggravating because then there's nothing I can do to calm him down and it usually requires me having to get up and out of bed to get him to shut up.

You should look into it. My mom has Medicaid thru the state for my sister and she pays like 5-10 bucks a month, so it might be worth looking into.

typically, i have things to do in the mornings after i get off work and am usually not able to lay down until about 1 pm. i usually need a little sleep aid to help me sleep and still only get about 4 or 5 hours of sleep, and i wake up severa times during so that isnt a restful sleep.

today, i literally had nothing to do. i was laying across my bed and got sleepy. that is rare for me. with all that is going on right now, my mind is usually so occupied that i dont get sleepy. i get physically tired, but i lay down and stare at my wall unless i take sleep aids or decide to stay awake so many hours that i literally pass out.

but today i felt sleepy. it was a great feeling. you dont appreciate it until you dont feel it. so i laid down around 9. my dog barks and wakes me uo at like 9:21 or something. i open my bedroom door to let her out and realize my leg is asleep. limp back to bed hoping to drift back to sleep and i am wide awake again. a day where i have no reason to be doing anything and am actually sleepy and i get all of 20 minutes. fantastic

well, guess i will need to take a few sleep aids to get a little sleep before work
