Two quick early thoughts: 1. I think it was last week where I said I didn't like Raw's production, and I wasn't sure what it was about it, whether it was the set, etc., but I said SD's looks much better. Since they're in the same arena as Raw was last night, they're using the Raw set, and I think still looks good. I'm now convinced my liking of SD's production is because the blue and white makes the show look much brighter, while the red and black for Raw makes it look somewhat dreary. It's kinda weird because the SD blue, especially the coloring of the audience, looked absolutely terrible with the old pre-split HD configuration. But since the split and new logo, it pops way more. 1 a) My OCD is bad today, so of course this is the first week I noticed that they don't use the hard cam on SD, they used the boom camera as the "primary" camera almost like what the original NXT did. It isn't always noticeable because 80 percent of the shots come from the hand-helds, but now that I noticed it it's bothering the shit out of me. 2. This Wyatt thing is irritating. This is the third straight time I could care less about the build, but was very entertained by the conclusion of the segments. I don't know if that's good or bad yet. More not-so-early thoughts: The crowd is extremely dead compared to yesterday. Same city, but this crowd is so much different. Naomi is good at every single thing she does...except wrestle. Match was good though, way better than their PPV match. I heart Alexa. I heart Alexa. I heart Alexa. Curt Hawkins reminds me of a meme but I'm not exactly sure which one. I could care less about his storyline though. Carmella/Nikki was weak. It could have been better if Carmella's delivery was. Also, she should have kept going and said "and you used your brother in law to get a prominent role on this show" yadda yadda. Still love Carms though. She reminds me of that sister from Ferris Bueller and half the girls I went to high school went. I also like it whenever Nikki's circlejerk is called out where she's looked at as this inspiration and such when she was pretty much universally hated until she came back from her injury and her sister retired. Slater: "The WWE universe wants to know why we came to the aid of Dolph Ziggler last week with the Spirit Squad. It's pretty simple. I did it for my kids. All kids need role models, ain't I right, Rhyno?" Rhyno: "I just don't like male cheerleaders." JBL set Otunga up for a fat joke ("well even Mikey has less body fat than you do") and it took Otunga like 10 seconds to catch on. When he finally did, JBL jokingly made fun of him because it was such an obvious joke and he said "I keyed you up David and I had to wait!" After he said it, you can see Otunga openly laughing and JBL covering his mouth both dying laughing in the background. ![]() Natalya just did a long-ass Whitney Houston quote and Bryan called her out on it and she said she didn't. They completely just stole that joke from The Other Guys where they did it with the TLC song. WTF am I watching lol. Ambrose: "Wait, stop the match. We have to take a commercial time-out." Announcers: "No we don't!" I'm loving this. JBL is seriously doing his best announcing work since maybe before the first brand split ended. He is slaying it. "Nice kicks. I know you look like a soccer mom I didn't know you kicked like one too." Dead. Edited by WWEFootos48, Oct 19 2016, 01:58 AM.

Not too bad of a show tonight. I think I might have been more entertained by Raw than Smackdown. The Randy/Bray feud build isn't too bad. Has me interested. I thought the match between Orton and Harper was decent, the finish was cool, having Kane appear in the casket. Bliss/Naomi was fine. I still really dig Naomi's entrance. She isn't too bad in the ring. Had some cool moves that she hit. I knew Bliss was going to win, she needed it. She's got loads of potential. No interest in Hawkins. His gimmick is terrible. I hated the "Chuck Norris facts" thing since they surfaced and the fact that they're trying to give him the same treatment...nah. Boring. I couldn't care less about Carmella/Bella feuding. It's not interesting or entertaining. I can't really stand either women. Another 6 man tag team match...so tired of these matches. Please stop overbooking them WWE. I find it funny that Baron Corbin gets booked so bad. Had a never ending feud with Dolph, had a weird small feud with Kalisto (what happened to this feud...or Kalisto? Did he get hurt?) And now he only gets to wrestle Swagger... I haven't had my evening cup of coffee before bed time, so I might be mean to Ambrose, hope he doesn't see this... :o Dean Ambrose is terrible. I just don't buy into anything he does. He isn't funny, just really annoying. I hate that they usually have him getting the best of Styles, no matter what. I can't get over the fact that his finishing move is a common DDT that is ever so slightly modified. He's boring too watch in the ring, boring on the mic...but hey! He's a hard worker tho! So that counts for something! |

WWE makes it so hard to be a Bray Wyatt fan. he has the right look, is a skilled promo, is very charismatic, connects with the fans, and can work (although he has never had that one defining match). But his storylines are often terrible. A casket?? if bray would have beaten Undertaker at WM or Suvivor Series, maybe he would have a reason for this...maybe. Bray switches from charusmatic cult leader to undertaker ripoff and back to cult leader pretty regularly. and it doesnt help that he rarely wins and when he does it is never clean. i am still a Bray fan (check my stats below my name), but often a frustrated one. alexa bliss is so hot. i dont care for blondes, but she is almost perfect. i hope the cosplay stays past halloween. match with ni-glow-mi was better than their last. i was surprised niaomi got the win since the rumor was they are building towards a triple threat title match. they can still get there, but i would rather see bliss vs lynch over a triple threat. curt hawkins is the male version of eva marie. every week they hype his first match, every week there is a reason it doesnt happen i read something about Corbin that i havent been able to unsee. For his End if Days finisher he is basically giving himself a rock bottom. and it fits. if you look at the landing, it is exactly the same as if swagger just gave him the rock bottom. i am not saying anything bad about either move, but it is now what see everytime i see the End of Days Dean Ambrose has the most annoying character on tv right now. it is easy to see why people boo him when he is in the ring with Styles or Cena. and i am not even blaming this on ambrose. like i said in the Raw thread, talent works the material they are given and Ambrose gets terrible material. when the shield broke up and ambrose was chasing rollins, he was easily the most loved and over of the three. i mean, he is still very over, dont get me wrong. but, again, it is very easy to see why he gets booed at times does Ellsworth have a place in wwe after this angle? he is quite popular as the lovable jobber, but how do you keep him on tv without overexposing him? |

He was on Talking Smack after and did an incredible job building himself. What stood out to me, aside from arguing with Bryan about how he was better because he DIDN'T take the "indys for a decade" route so he's much fresher and a bigger talent than someone like Bryan or Styles, is that he put over Swagger. He talked about him being a former world champion. He mentioned his collegate wrestling. Then turned it into "and I beat that guy in less than two minutes." Nobody has put over Swagger like that since before his last main event push (the one where he got a DUI right before WrestleMania), and it made Corbin look like a million bucks in the process. By the looks of it, it was built to have him start getting better competition.
Sooo over the last few weeks, I've come to realize that when Becky/Alexa does happen, my heart might literally stop. I've never loved a pairing of two women more since Mickie and Trish. |

You could easily put him as a surprise member for the SD vs Raw Survivor Series match, I think. If not, you could have him appear in 2 weeks and have Styles destroy him backstage and take him out of WWE programming. If WWE hires him after that, he could reappear on NXT and become more than just a jobber. WWE's t-shirt of Ellsworth has now a pre-sale date of November 15. As for Kalisto, he is dealing with a back injury according to dirtsheets. No idea as to when he'll return, though. He could easily go to Raw for the Cruiserweight division, but he could also work on SD, with proper writing and push. Question: what is the general consensus of Nikki Bella nowadays? I understand that people warmed up to her due to returning from a career-threatening injury, but I can't find myself rooting for her. I can't buy her as a face wrestler, and while I think she improved on the mic (sort of), she isn't on the same wrestling skill level as Charlotte/Sasha/Becky/Bayley/Asuka or ranking above Natalya/Emma. I'll put her ahead of Carmella, but that ain't saying much. Still, if someone else better than Carmella cut that promo she did against Nikki, it could have potentially lead for a double turn. I think last night's promo was a LOT of it when you look at what both her and Carmella argued...it's that many feel that she's worked hard in spite of everything else and that she's put in the work to become decent and a good personality even though she started as a model and an extremely shitty wrestler with an immature bratty/snotty attitude. I also think she's become almost the veteran of the women. Nattie has been around for awhile and is generally respected, but she's never been as high as Nikki, and Nikki sorta bridges the gap between the old women and the new ones...For me it went Bella Twins, then AJ, then Paige, then the rest, in terms of who hit the spotlight when, so Nikki is one of the oldest there. So in terms of last night, Carmella is one of the ones who is using the argument everyone has used against her for years, yet Nikki is like "well you know I did actually work my ass off and have become a star on my own without my sister by my side or my boyfriend," which is actually true. Yeah Daniel basically trained with her all through her injury, but since she's returned she's gotten much better at telling a story and has improved greatly to where she's moved up from being incompetent to average to pretty decent. Some of it is 100 percent WWE trying to tell their own narrative because I do feel like Cena and Bryan does have something to do with it (not directly, but you don't piss off one of the Bellas because one of your top draws will then get pissed), but it doesn't have that much to do with it anymore. She can be competent and good in the ring without her name attached to anyone else. Which is ironic because Paige, the original Anti-Diva, has become the biggest diva still signed to the roster.

not really sure where to put this and it isnt important enough to warrant its own thread, so i will just stick it here. wwe released a new Goldberg and a new Ellsworth shirt on the same day. Ellsworth has reportedly outsold Goldberg by a good margin. Crazy. wonder if this means we wil see more of Ellsworth. I wouldnt mind him being a rare occassion guy or even someone's sidekick. but if they try to make him a legit weekly performer then i think people will get bored and turn on him |

Yeah there's no way Ellsworth will be able to keep this going, but the fact that they started to sell that shirt only last week says they're probably going to want to do something with him. One thing that helps is that he does run his own promotion so I don't think he'll want to run a regular schedule, but come on; the fans even turned on Ambrose after he was the most over guy for a year, Ellsworth won't be far behind if he even makes only a handful of appearances before the Royal Rumble. |

Yes, cause WWE seeing Fandangoing becoming a thing and posting 1500 viral videos of it TOTALLY didn't kill it off within a week... I get it because you want a huge merchandise draw like that, but he's already hit the peak and I'm not sure they can keep it going without it tiring out. I might change my opinion on this. After thinking about it, I think pairing him up in a random tag team like they did with Slater might work really well; it won't be like Slater because he was a guy with talent who was extremely desperate and needed a break, which he got with Rhyno. Ellsworth, however, is someone who on TV isn't really talented but has a shitload of heart and has two wins over the champion so he gets something of a mentor for confidence*. It can work. *or MAYBE Backlund turns on Young and helps him out!! Edited by WWEFootos48, Oct 24 2016, 10:56 PM.

The thing with Fandango is that they made him really uncool literally 1 week after he somehow got over with the crowds. Ellsworth can fare much better. If he appears this week or before Survivor Series, have Styles destroy him literally and take him off tv and he can appear at NXT and become a roster member there and become a serious act... or he returns as a surprise member for Team SD in Survivor Series. Or he reappears in the Rumble and eliminates Strowman. His life shell seems limited as it is, but it doesn't have to be that way. He also was attacked by The Miz before his SD debut, so that could be worked into a feud. Edited by MY85, Oct 25 2016, 06:37 AM.

Starting a bit late but thank god for DVRs so I can still do this semi-live... Ellsworth actually got Ambrose heel heat. That is great. ![]() Does SmackDown even have an intro? I don't remember seeing it once. Alexa and Becky in the ring together. I just came everywhere. Jesus, Daniel, can we NOT get a promo with him that starts with you being on the phone? Nattie is so creepy. She keeps screaming "You like Nikki Bella? I loooove Nikki Bella" as she has her in the sleeper. ![]() I get the women's revolution now. BECAUSE Nikki is improving in the ring, I'm watching her matches finally and it's only now I realize how smokin' her body is. The system works! All things considered, Nikki does the STF SOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER than Cena. Like a million times better. Like a million billion trillion times better. Also, two good women's segments on the same show. How hard is that, Raw? Mikey having problems with his mic coming loose. God, he had ONE job. ![]() God, Miz, Ziggler, Spirit Squad, and Slater and Rhyno is so damn entertaining. Slater admitting he bought timeshares from the Shining Stars. Fuck Ziggler for the Napoli reference. Ellsworth is pretty decent at acting, but almost too good. I'm predicting he turns on Ambrose. I think you think the things Daniel Bryan say are better than they are because you met him or something. I dunno, your weird with that kind of stuff. Okay Smackdown was easily better than RAW this week. I'm sure well all agree on that. But don't get it twisted, this is the first week since the draft where Smackdown was way better. The first match was okay. I mean Bray v Kane at Backlash in a no DQ match was much better. Kane is just so slow now, and I have no interest in seeing a bald fat dude wear a Halloween costume and a wig wrestle. He's not what he used to be and hes suited much better as Corporate Kane. I'm a fan of Corporate Kane. This, I don't like. Retire. However the Orton RKO on Kane was awesome and has me interested in this feud. Ill agree with Whosey that Orton is probably just playing Bray Wyatt. But for now, they have my interest. Becky and Alexa. Now believe it or not, I thought this segment was really good. Ive been hesitant about Alexa Bliss because I'm certain the only reason she gets praise on here is because of how hot she is. But she nailed that promo. She was the usual female heel, but she delivered it all almost perfectly. Then Becky spoke, and that was....what it was. Shes not good on the mic at all and its only a matter of time before the rest of you realise it. But then the little brawl happened, and that was good. I liked that segment. Tag match- 2 shitty tag teams having a shitty tag match. What can ya do. Nikki v Natalya- Again, this wasn't horrible. Nikki seems like shes improved since her injury. I mean shes still not great but not horrible. Natalya is the best technical wreslter of all the females. Yes I know shes not hot and shes annoying. But when it comes to "wrestling" shes probably the best. So this was a pretty good match. Carmella attacking Nikki again wasn't what I wanted to see. But they gotta keep all the women involved somehow. 6 man tag- Was alright for what it was. I didn't like the commentating of Dolph and Miz. They really need to slow it down with the guest commentating. No Baron Corbin this week? Now that I look back at Smackdown, it wasn't all that great earlier. But what puts it far ahead of RAW was the main event. AJ and Dean had a great free tv match. I'm not on the hate Dean Ambrose train. I mean I was never a huge fan of his to begin with but I still like him. I think his character could use a little tweeking. But the fans turn on guys so quickly these days, I usually don't buy into it. I'm not a follower. Hes a good wrestler. The match was great. The ending was interesting. For whatever reason people like this Ellsworth dude. I don't get it, but as long as the act is hot, they'll try and do something with him. I'm sure Dean Ambrose will get another shot at the title. One thing I'm worried about is at Survivor Series, the champions not defending their titles. Its already clear that the tag team and the womens titles wont be defended at Survivor Series, But itd be a shame if AJ Styles was on Team Smackdown and didn't defend his title. But who does he defend against. After Ambrose, who is their? I read Cena was gonna beat Styles for the title at WrestleMania to tie Ric Flairs record. Don't know if that's true or not, I hope not, but it begs the question, who does Styles face until then? |

Not really. When he was on Talking Smack I was specifically referring to when asked about the Raw PPV...he said something to the effect of, "you know what? They should make it five hours long and have SIX hell in a cell matches, and the winner of all six matches should fight each other until they become the champion of the galaxy, because making history is clearly what's important to them." He's one of the only people on either show that actually says what they truly feel and in a scripted sense, fans can see him saying that simply because he's the SD GM and he's competing with Raw, while "smart" fans know that Raw sucks right now and he's completely right about everything he says. It's the best of both worlds. He also put the Shining Stars over more than Raw has in months of build. His stuff and back and forth with him, Slater, and Rhyno built more for their characters than all their TV time on Raw combined since Slater ended up buying 5 shares and showed them off to Bryan and they went back and forth for at least five minutes. And on top of that, when Ellsworth was on, Bryan told this story of how Ambrose and him liked one another in the Indys but Ambrose beat him to a bloody pulp just because he wanted to, then asked him "are you afraid of your health and well being now?" which made Ellsworth feel 10 times worse, but then told him "it's okay because we all have accidents. Even Renee, she makes them all the time!" So Bryan, in that case of a higher authority figure, pretty much said that Ellsworth will be on again and built up how destructive Ambrose can be. I can't help it if he and I have a similar sense of humor, but he's a good guy playing an asshole instigator and knows how to advance angles and get people over. Except Corbin, apparently. Where the fuck was he?! Edited by WWEFootos48, Oct 26 2016, 12:06 PM.

I'm not saying he's wrong in what he's saying. But I do feel like you think what he's saying is golden, for bias reasons. But I don't watch Talking Smack, so I could be wrong. But when you say RAW sucks right now, I can't say I agree. Do you say that because of the ratings? Or because of the length of the show? Because the reality is, aside from this week RAW and Smackdown have both been good. Smackdown is usually easier to watch because it's shorter and paced better. But RAW usually has much better quality wrestling. On top of that I feel Clash Of Champions was better than Backlash and Hell In A Cell will probably be better than No Mercy. As for the ratings, I've heard they are at an all-time low. Which I expected to keep happening with WWE set on this page Era. But doesn't it still beat Smackdown in the ratings? A show that is on the same channel with the same time slot just a day later that doesn't go up against Monday Night Football. So I don't think ratings are an indication of Smackdown being better than RAW but more of a indication that wrestling as a whole needs a bit of a switch up. I mean, how much money does WWE really make with the kids foundations and stuff? Would they really lose money if they went to pg 14 and had ano edgier show?? |

WWE has several ways of making income. TV ad revenue. The suscriptions to the Network goes directly towards them. The option of traditional PPV viewing is still available, but WWE gets a part of the hefty pricetag. I think merchandise sales are very strong and not just for the likes of Cena, Roman (?) and New Day. They make and distribute movies (regardless of quality). They also help foundations, which gives them a positive image as a company despite the product being related with violent elements. I do think that ratings are important too. While there are many ways to measure how many people watchbor pay attention to WWE, the tv ratings will be a deciding factor for future tv negotations. In past years, ratings and PPV buys were going down (and still), but tv ad revenue increased a lot for WWE. It allows them to be profittable. But for wrestling as a whole to improve, there needs to be a very big #2 wrestling company that can rival McMahon again. |

"3 Hell in a Cell matches. More is more? Is that the phrase? More is more? More is better? There's more that's better? Do you know what I think they should do, is they should make it 4 hours, maybe 5 hours. With 6 Hell in a Cell matches. Yeah, no, I- and, and the winner of all 6 Hell in a Cell matches gets to be champion of the galaxy! That's what I want to happen." "And you get the championship when Triple H just comes out and beats up everybody else and then puts you on top of then. That's how you become Universal Champion." That's the exact quote Bryan said last night. I know I have a bias towards him, but I'm not even close to the only person online praising that part of the show and going crazy about it. It was in response to the "triple main event" idea that Raw is doing, in the sense that it means there are "more main events." That's been a term shit on by fans, and Bryan called them out on it on air.
I don't worry about ratings too much because I know the length of the show plays a huge part in it. But aside from that, I want to gouge my effing eyes out when I watch it. I give credit where it's due, and I love the main event feud. I like Roman and Rusev a lot, and Rusev has become one of my favorites on Raw. But besides that, the show's booking is completely illogical and sloppy. It's not hard to book a feud between a couple of guys or girls and project them on TV each week, but Raw makes it seems like it's an impossible task. It's a show that's 3 hours long, has a shitload of filler and useless segments, yet it STILL runs 15 minutes over each week. The worst SmackDown episodes so far have been considered "okay," because it's a show that has been consistent. They might not always have great moments, but they also don't have bad moments, either. Yet Raw could have a great moment--incredible--like Goldberg's return, let completely fuck up the feud a week later and take most of the air felt by Goldberg's return by writing a segment so bad that Paul Heyman, one of the best promo guys today, couldn't save it, and Brock Lesnar, someone who is the biggest badass in wrestling, broke character. It's not hard to realize Brock being in his hometown will have a huge influence on reaction, but WWE either didn't think about it or didn't care. It's dumb shit like that that shows me they don't care about detail at all or doing anything except spewing cliches to sell merchandise and WWE Network streams. I really don't think RAW is all that bad. You should try pvring it and skipping commercials and the first few minutes of the matches. Makes it much easier to watch. I do the same with Smackdown. I usually bang RAW out in 1hr 45mins and Smackdown in an hour. And I don't miss anything. Also I think RAW builds feuds just the same as Smackdown, even better in some cases. The triple main event thing isn't as bad as people are saying. It's just a thing to get people to watch. Does it really bother you that much? Just because Daniel Bryan disses it, doesn't mean shit. It's just a way to promote 3 big Hell In A Cell matches at their PPV. Is it the absolute greatest thing ever? No. But it is what it is and it's not that bad considering all 3 matches will probably be great.... I don't get the hate. |

I do have a problem with it because they shouldn't have to market it that way. If it was good in the first place, that should get people to watch it. I agree, I've said many times that I think the three matches will be good because the competitors are good, but just about every commercial was about "triple main event." This is an era where it doesn't actually matter whether someone watches the PPV live; if someone misses it but then hears a match is spectacular, they make the same amount of money and have the same number of subscribers no matter what, and the amount of subscribers to WWE Network reflects that. They don't magically make more money by presenting the shows in a different way, but they can do a great job in annoying the shit out of people by promoting something they were already going to watch. WWE announces their subscriber count quarterly, and generally up until WrestleMania season the idea isn't necessarily to draw new viewers, but to give enough new content so subscribers won't cancel, which is why PPVs are still big business. But unlike years prior, they don't have to promote the shows like they used to, because the product and buy is already there; you just have to keep whomever is watching satisfied enough to say "okay, that was worth it" and continue their subscription. So advertising every segment through two different shows doesn't increase buys, especially when WWE has hit 2 million subscribers yet has only about 2.6-3 million viewers tune into Raw; most of the audience already has the network domestically. So it's a case where these people watching know when the event is and what the matches are, so work more on making the build and story good rather than reminding me every five minutes about what the main events are and how "historical" the women's match is. Raw is the show they do this with; when you watch SmackDown, every commercial also says shit about Raw, either about Goldberg or about the triple main event. I actually was able to catch up to the end of SmackDown as it happened even though I started late because I was able to fast-forward through the preview of the PPV. But when I watch Raw live, which is the only time I really can watch it because late afternoons are the only time I'm generally free, I don't have the luxury to fast forward through any of it. Earlier in the year I was able to enjoy some segments more because I can hear what was good or bad then pick and choose what clips to watch, but that shouldn't be what dictates what the show is. Not bashing you, but you say how you fast-forward through a lot of the shows and generally end up cutting over an hour of content out...so imagine if you sat through the three hours, including commercials, including the overrun where somehow the show lasts way longer than scheduled because they needed, just needed, to have Bo Dallas squash someone else. It might be a different story. Before the split, I hadn't watched SmackDown since 2010, and I remember the show I watched because it was an event I went to live. And I wasn't even watching every hour of every show after the split, even though yes, I do have loyalty to Daniel Bryan, because it didn't matter as much to watch. What made me watch was that amazing as fuck Kevin Owens win which was the coolest thing ever...and remember, I met Owens too in July, so I have just as much loyalty to him too, so it was a Raw moment that made me watch. SmackDown didn't come until after I decided, hey, let's make it a habit to watch wrestling again, it's a good way to pass the time. Yet since then, I've constantly been let down by Raw, and SmackDown has been a show where even at its worst, I don't have to fast-forward through a segment or turn away because it's killing my patience just to sit through it. And after the show, I seek more of it and go on places like Reddit, because I'm disappointed, if anything, that it was only two hours. Raw, at its best, has the better moments, but at its worst, is terrible television, and they know that when writing it because they know if they throw a Goldberg or Lesnar or women's championship match late in the night and not announce when it'll happen, people like me will keep watching just to get to that moment no matter what, so we sit through that crap.
