And Jericho definitely has that look like he wants the belt. He gained a lot of negative heat with fans over the last few years because he's come back when he wants, has sub-par runs then leaves, but I feel this time he really FEELS what he's doing and finally found what his role should be rather than coming back for a feud or two then leaving. Although that's not even a real argument because his feud with Michaels in 2008 was incredible and by then he was working only part-time. I think a lot of it too has to do with most thinking he was leaving after WM and AJ but then didn't and started working with all these young guys and having some good banter with them. In the past he probably would have left right after WM, but because he didn't, he feels like a real threat again. Edited by WWEFootos48, Sep 6 2016, 06:27 PM.

I could get behind a KO vs Jericho feud for the Universal Title. But the belt needs to stay on KO until at least the Royal Rumble |

No it doesn't. KO could lose the title in Hell In A Cell and win it again another time and hed be fine. It doesn't NEED to stay on him. |

after an unfortunate short reign of Balor and with Jericho and Owens making a joke of that by calling Owens the longest reigning Universal Champion, then another short reign isnt what is needed right now. a legnthy, memorable, and valuable reign is needed to really establish the title right now. playing hot potato with the belt isnt needed. |

But that's also why I'm not expecting a long reign. They're already joking that it IS a long reign. I don't think they're going to get a long one until a face takes the title. |

I'm watching Talking Smack and Daniel Bryan is on (obviously). Young asked Bryan about the Sasha promo and whether he was offended and he said something to the effect of "well I can see an ominous tweet and whatever yeah I'm not offended...the problem was it just wasn't that good." He's so right. And there are two things from the promo that I think are now sticking out in hindsight aside from how stupid and how little it made sense...first, how much she put Stephanie over. And again, that isn't Sasha's fault, but really, it was getting ridiculous how she made it sound like it was Stephanie, Sasha, Charlotte, Becky, and friends. Stephanie should NOT have been put in with that group. It made it seem like the writers wrote it to put Steph over. Second, the fact that she went on a massive women's empowerment speech that went on for way too long, THEN calls Dana Miss Piggy not even five minutes later is so hypocritical. It's not a PG thing, and if Sasha didn't go on that rant then it would be borderline fine, but you can't have it both ways; either build them up as women or just keep it as is. I knew right away that she was going to say it's bad news for Charlotte. When they first showed the tweet on air, my wife was like "uh oh, that's gonna suck if Sasha is out for an extended period of time" and I replied with, "She probably means bad news for Charlotte", and I was right. But I agree with the Dana Brook comment, while I don't like her, it wasn't called for as it made her look like a hypocrite. |

And I knew it would be "bad news" for Charlotte too, but that might be the worst booked promo to get to a point like that ever. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a worse-scripted promo. People used the argument of Daniel Bryan entering the Royal Rumble in 2015 (I think) and his promo where it seemed like he was going to retire but didn't, but he never came close to venturing into that territory. It was genuine and really at most he talked about how he didn't know if he would ever do it again. It was also a slight at Stephanie, because he last fought with her when he was stripped of the WWE title so swerving her as a face made sense. Also, he was out from May until that November I wanna say that year so there was a legitimate concern about his retirement. Also Mark Henry's swerve was one of my favorite promos on Raw ever. It was random, but it was also a way to turn him heel and get John Cena's guard down in a way not many people could. It also didn't play off an injury, it was literally just saying he did everything he wanted and it was time to be with his family more. The entire premise made sense. Sasha was out for what two weeks then tries to swerve everyone (as a face, no less) that she's going to retire just so she can say "oh yeah I'm fine and I'm wrestling in two weeks." WTF were they actually thinking? I'm fine with the "bad news" bit, but she went on for WAY too long trying to make it seem like she was retiring for literally no reason. Then calls some woman who already got beat up by her mentor Miss Piggy. It was not good TV at all. Edited by WWEFootos48, Sep 8 2016, 10:03 PM.

lets forget for a moment that the segment was scripted to happen like it did. lets talk character motivation. lets talk about why sasha said what she said. who was she trying to swerve. well, ultimately charlotte, yes. but was her speach designed to get charlotte to come out to confront her? if dana hadnt have come out, how would she have gone from over emotional faux retirement to announcing her title match? is that the reason she was being so sappy (again, from a character motivation stand point)? was the point to draw charlotte out? and if that was the whole point, why not just cal her out? i agree segment went in for too long and was too predictable. i doubt anyone bought into the idea of there really being bad news, because somehow the atmosphere was different. |

Ding ding ding. That's my biggest problem. Besides "the doctors" none of that was designed to swerve Charlotte. If it was, Charlotte would have come out, not Dana. From a complete storyline perspective, Charlotte (likely) sending Dana out meant that Charlotte believed there would have been some sort of fight, which meant "doctors orders" probably meant Sasha was coming back to kick her ass. Charlotte in that case would make Dana the fall girl for the third time that night. Or else Charlotte would have LOVED to put the final nail in Sasha's coffin. Everything else was purely show and designed to swerve the audience, nobody else. There's no other way to say it unless she was trying to be a parody of retirement speeches, but even then she was being too dramatic to make that an option. Okay off-topic but also on-topic because I'm talking to myself...Cesaro used to have an amazing theme. It was based off Malenko's WWF theme (before he just used the Radicalz theme) and Sheamus had a funny theme but it fit him. Now both of them have generic-ass themes for no reason. CFO$ really?! Rollins can't get behind Foley's decisions because he still supports Stephanie. SEE! CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! HOW EFFING HARD IS THAT?! ROLLINS IS SUPPOSEDLY BECOMING A FACE BUT WON'T GET BEHIND THE INHERENT FACE GM BECAUSE OF THE HEEL COMMISH. SERIOUSLY WWE. IT. MAKES. SENSE. AND IT IS SIMPLE. KEEP EFFING DOING THAT ON RAW. That's my point!! (have I said this now twice in two days?) It made no sense from ANY perspective. They ran a thing before the show with words expressing 9/11 during Backlash yesterday but this was the weirdest thing ever. Why re-sign Mahal if he won't do shit, but then why aren't you signing him when you don't care about the people facing him? |

Just watched RAW. Was a better show than last week. Chris Jericho. He's money every single week. The only wrestler in history who is making a case for greatest of all time the longer he sticks around. He's truly amazing and I actually feel lucky watching him. And Roman v Owens. Holy shit what a great match for a raw main event. Even my girlfriend was like this is an intense match. Good stuff from those two. And I'm glad the title match will be one on one. Side question. Is the guy who won the cruiserweight title, Manik from TNA?? |
