i would rather have Triple H as an active wrestler than as the suit authority figure. this man still has a lot of great matches left in his career. i want to see them.

i dont understand the recent trend of wanting a wrestler to go away at a certain age. as long as they still perform well, idc how old they are.

No offense, but that's kind of a very selfish thing of you to say. The reason most wrestlers walk away after reaching a certain age is to make sure their bodies aren't completely broken for their post-wrestling career lives.

I look at a guy like Mick Foley now and see someone who is no longer capable of tying their own shoes. It's really sad. I kind of wish Foley, who was fantastic even into the latter years of his career, stepped away from the ring a bit earlier than he did.

i believe you have misunderstood me. if a wrestler chooses to retire for any reason, then i have no problem with it. as a fan, i may wish for more. but as a human, i respect their choices. what i meant was fans, especially online, criticizing a performer for being too old just because they hit a certain age. if a person is still capable if putting on great matches and wants to continue wrestling, then i see no problem with it

You think that happens? I mean, generally speaking, most active wrestlers who are up there in age aren't nearly as good as they once were (e.g. Sting, Sabu). That's just how it is.

I think the reason HHH gets so much hate from the IWC is because he's an authority figure who always happens to be in big matches. Kurt Angle is 47, but I rarely see anyone ragging on him.

i see people ragging on Angle, but not as much since he is in TNA and about 85% of the people seem to think he retired when he left :WWE: . But the one that gets the most slack about his age is The Undertaker. i see people only care about his age and not about his workrate at all. Batista had similar comments, but he was so universally hated that people just hated him for any reason: "he wore blue. i hate that guy"

I think what annoys me about Triple H is that he already had that "end of an era" match with Undertaker in HIAC a few years ago...fast forward a few years, Undertaker is still making his yearly appearances (and sometimes even at other points during the year!) and Triple H is still a weekly character, and on top of that, is WWE Champion. What exactly was it an end to? Yet it was hyped as if both of them were done after and many assumed it made sense because of how old they were. Yet after that they both have shown they could both still go, and I think that's the point.

With Angle, he's been the butt of jokes for years that he's going to die in the ring or in a hotel room because of the shape his body is in. That started when he was still only 35-37, so nothing has changed. Guerrero died at 38 and Benoit I think at 40. Bryan ended up retiring at 34. Batista didn't even win his first world title until he was 35 or 36. I don't think many take age into consideration, but mainly take how long they've been on TV and their styles. Nobody disputes Triple H's ability, but it becomes an issue of him being a big name so he immediately gets shot to the top over other guys who work a full schedule, which is the same thing that happened when The Rock returned.

This is an admirable sentiment, but imo it's not terribly relevant to the subject at hand. From time to time the IWC and wrestling fans more generally call for a wrestler to retire. From my memory, only Kurt Angle has been subject to fans calling for his retirement on the grounds of ill health. There are probably a few others. More often than not, fans call for wrestlers to retire because they're simply not the same as they once were. For instance, "oh the Undertaker is past his prime, he should retire."

I can see both sides of that argument. From this fan's perspective, if a wrestler still has something to give then I am happy to see them hang around. I certainly enjoyed the last few years of HBK's career, even when he was balding and wonky-eyed. Nostalgia is also a fun thing.

From a best-for-business perspective, I think that it's damaging to have too many old wrestlers hanging around. I don't like the fact that the WWE continues to dwell on the wrestler v authority story almost two decades after Austin v McMahon. It's boring now. And it doesn't cast a good reflection on the company. It screams, "we are not doing anything new". Moreover, I think it's embarrassing to have old wrestlers hanging around. My parents occasionally see an old wrestler on RAW and will make a snide comment about it. There's bound to be a lot of other people - possible casual fans - who have similar reactions to the stale stars of yesteryear.

The Undertaker is still fun to see at Wrestlemania every year. Triple H should be nowhere near the WWE title, for the reasons listed above.

AJ Styles is the first to challenge Reigns for the title. be honest, does anyone think Reigns is losing his first title defense, regardless of who challenges?

glad to see Ryder lose the ic title.

I definitely don't see Reigns dropping the championship any time soon.

Considering he just lost at WrestleMania, I was not expecting Styles to become the new number one contender last night. Whenever Reigns vs. Styles happens, it's going to be good. AJ will make Roman look like a million bucks.

For me, the best part of Raw last night was Enzo and Big Cass' debut. Made me realize just how over those two guys are going to get on the main roster. Amore is so naturally talented on the microphone.

That Enzo Amore sure is fire on the mic. I really enjoyed that. Baron Cobin has potential. Apollo Crews. Nah. Still skipped the divas segment lol.

Every other part of Raw was great. I think WWE does a fantastic job at pandering to this social media audience at the same time as carrying out there own agendas.

Taker wins at WM, yet Shane still manages to get control of Raw. Seems perfectly logical.

Is he being referred to as Luke? Me and my friend got into this discussion last week because he had like 5 different names in his previous WWE tenure and we were trying to figure out whether they would call him Doc to separate himself from his past or Luke and acknowledge that he was here for awhile.

why are more people not talking about Roman's heel turn? people have been wanting to hate this guy and now have their chance and silence

He's not heel yet. In fact I prefer he keep doing what he's doing. Just keep acting like the boos don't bother him and that he's the man. He's a true tweener. And I like it.

he encourages booing, says things to deliberately get more boos, and is facing a fan favorite face in his first title defense. all while the announcers openly discuss how people like to boo him. roman is a heel

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
Tweener, sure. Heel? He would need to low-blow AJ Styles in his title defense or have the Usos cost AJ his match and Roman hugging them.

On top of that, I'm not sure if this is even setting up a heel turn. It might only work if Rollins comes back as face and Cena comes back within a month or two as well to take over the "top face" spot again. I think it's just WWE's way of trying to acknowledge people don't like him so he's bringing more of an edge to his character. I don't necessarily see it as him becoming heel.

Yeah I really don't see Reigns as a Heel right now. Heels try to generate heat, Reigns isn't really doing anything in his promos to do this. People just simply don't like him and he eggs them on for the boos that are inevitably coming anyway. It's an interesting case, but I would call him the rarely sighted in wwe now a days Tweener. He's a bit more interesting in promos now, but I think it's mostly due to the intense jeers. He's still pretty flat on the mic, and I never really enjoyed his in ring style.

Let me add that I would be a lot more behind Reigns if they were pushing others to the main event with him. Like Owens and Ambrose. The fact that they have been so concentrated on Reigns is what is making people hate him.

I agree, I don't want Reigns as heel, let him be the tweener he is now.

They know what they're doing by putting Styles up against him at Payback.

Yeah he's definitely tweener. Don't listen to Cybrus. He drinks. Now that I think of it tho there's not top heel right now. Without Triple H, who's the heel? Owens? Jericho?

That's the problem, there are no main event heels at the moment.

Someone either has to be elevated (Owens?) or turned (Ambrose?)

My money is on Owens.

Roman is definitely heel. just wait, in 4 months when Seth is back and is the face challening Roman at SummerSlam, you'll all be thinking "damn.....cybrus was right". roman is not cena. he will not be forced face his entire run. roman is a heel

But that is just conjecture. That doesn't mean he's currently a heel or that they're going to turn him. In order to be a heel, you have to have mannerisms and actions that make you one; he's getting booed because he has a massive amount of X-Pac heat, not because he is acting inherently bad. He even says it himself; he's not a bad guy or a good guy.
