It was great. I was so sad when I dropped my PS2 one time soon after getting the game and scratched the disc when it was inside. It took a game doctor then a professional disc fixer (who I think also used a Game Doctor, only more productively) to get it working again. |

Yeah I have my own created wrestling league with the games. I went back with a simulator like I was told to on here and I played 1 year of PPVs for each game. Starting with Backlash 98 on WWF War Zone up to WM 15. Backlash 99 up to WM16 on WWF Attitude and so and so forth. Their was one game where I played like a year and a half with I forget which one tho. And when I got to WWE 2K15, I've played from Backlash 2014 to WM 34 already lol. So when I get 2K17 it'll be Backlash 2018. I have created an entire 20 year history doing this, it's pretty crazy. I tried to recreate some historic moments that actually happened just because they made guys who they are. My Invasion angle took place in 2002 and lemme tell you it blew the real one out of the water lmao. Their was one thing I couldn't recreate though and that was The Undertakers WM undefeated streak. Shawn Michaels won the 98 RR (Just a tournament cuz War Zone didn't have enough people) and best The Undertaker in the main event of WM 15. Im actually gonna create a thread with the results of all these PPVs |

I don't remember War Zone having PPVs. Would you act them out as if they were PPVs or how would that work? I can imagine it's way easier with the newer games since they have all of the options necessarily to play the games like that, but I'm extremely interested how that would work on older games. |

Yeah their is alot of pretend involved and imagination lmao. I'd just play singles or tag matches in the order I booked them. In Attitude you can create ppvs though. |

I bought this game. But I bought it on the PlayStation store. The problem with this is it has to download onto my system. Now I live in the middle of nowhere, but their is no way it should be taking as long to download as it has. I started downloading this game at about 10am on Friday. It is now 10:30pm on Monday!!!! WTF!?!? |

Bought the game. I'm feeling mixed about it. The 2k Showcase was my favorite mode in the last game and was going to make me buy the older 2k games just to play through them (but they weren't xbox one compatable), yet they don't have it on there this year for some reason. However, they built on last year and I think the actual wrestling is the best out of any wrestling game I've ever played. They 100 percent got it right I think. The announcing sucks. It's King and Cole and I don't feel like it's really personalized at all. About to start the career mode now. I liked the one for the last game except for how long it took just to get out of NXT. I know how Bayley must have felt now.

Didn't officially wrestle in career mode yet but I like it so far. I think the promo challenges are intriguing as hell and makes one of the weakest points of last year's game one of the strongest now for this year. I like how they set up the NXT portion of it with Matt Bloom/Albert/Prince Albert/Tensai/Lord Tensai/Hip Hop Hippo/A-Train putting the character through challenges to test skills. It didn't last that long before you're on SD (I assume to stay unlike the last game when you spent a few months on NXT first) but it's very good. I also read the showcase wasn't in the game because with Lesnar on the cover it would be surrounding him but without certain people in his career in the game they felt like it wouldn't be doing the story justice. I'm assuming they mean CM Punk, Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle, and maybe the Hardys? They all had major career implications with Lesnar and were omitted. I'm sure they could have been fine without Matt and Jeff, but without Angle and Hogan you're taking out a lot of his first WWE run right there and with Matt and Jeff that's almost half of his first run combined so I understand their point. Its a major improvement in my opinion. It actually has new features and doesn't feel like the same exact thing like '14, '15 and '16. The backstage brawls and fighting in the crowd, along with the ability to go backstage during matches are fantastic and probably my favorite part of the game. Rosters definitely not as good as 2k16's, and most of the NXT guys you'd want to play as are DLC which is unfortunate. Career mode still sucks, and the Paul Heyman storyline is pretty much identical to The Authority storyline from '15. Boring and tedious. It sucks they got rid of the 2k Showcase this year, I thought that meant they'd be putting a lot more time and effort into career, but I guess not. Universe Mode is pretty much the same with a few added tweaks. Overall the setup looks a lot more like GM mode from the '06-'08 SD VS Raw games. Its also a nice touch with the pyro at the beginning of each show. Haven't really done too much with the customization. It's not worth $60, but what WWE game is? |

I haven't gotten to the meat and potatoes of the game just yet (Universe, Career mode), only been playing exhibition matches with the belts or number one contenderships. I'm enjoying it, I'm just bad at reversals. Some of the stats seems really unbalanced imo, I was playing Bray vs Randy, and Randy would not lose for nothing. I said screw it and went for a count out victory. With AJ vs Lesnar, I hit Lesnar with 3 Styles Clash and 4 Spiral Taps, 2 counts galore. They were severely body damaged, mind you. I don't know if I have the patience to go through universe mode, though I might went I start losing interest. Though I will want to take a CAW through career mode. VC is just dumb, instead of having all the titles available like in 2K16, they're all locked in 2K17. That's going backwards. Nowt they do give you enough VC to unlock them, but you need VC for everything, locked superstars, boosting stats, etc. |

I sorta disagree on the VC. I like that type of setup. I think one of the main reasons it's like that (just my thought) is because since they don't have the 2K showcase there was no other real way to unlock certain stars except to have them as unlockable via currency. In 2k16 you would get unlockables by winning challenges and matches in the showcase which I thought was great, but obviously that can't happen in this year's game. But that's also more or less personal preference, not necessarily a flaw/not flaw in the game, unlike what I'm about to talk about... The career mode. Having gotten further since the last time I've posted on it, I'll just say this: fuck that shit. The US Championship was the first one I went for. It took a few career months to get to it, and I finally won it. So then I entered the rankings for the IC championship. I started at rank #10. After 3 months, I'm at rank 8. I've beaten guys at higher rank multiple times, even beat one of them in a rivalry, yet I still haven't seen them drop down or have me take that place. Career mode needs SERIOUS work. The Xbox shows how many people unlocked achievements and winning practically every single belt is considered a rare achievement. Something as simple as a mid-card championship should not take this long. Nobody has the patience to do this. My character already has a 96 character rating, higher than practically everyone in the rankings, yet I'm still stuck at #8 and wrestling the same guys every week. It's like dealing with Raw each week except that you're a part of the show and are tired of the same old shit. But I enjoy the actual wrestling still. My favorite mode is the single play mode. I surprisingly haven't gotten tired of it yet even though I've unlocked the locker room rat achievement which is completing a match with 50 different wrestlers. It's still fun to me. But career mode? No. Not fun. Edited by WWEFootos48, Jan 11 2017, 05:41 PM.

Yeah I stopped career mode after being on NXT for too many rivalries. I got bored. The best way I find to play the game is to create your own league and rosters, make up storylines in your head and play out matches and set up PPVs. You need a good imagination to have fun with it. I have a make believe league with a make believe 20 plus year history. |

Yes we know. We've seen the posts ![]() No but seriously, yeah that's about where I'm at. Universe mode isn't very appealing to me and I still don't necessarily get the point of it. That's not to say others can't enjoy it, but it's hard for me to. But playing matches against opponents and seeing what can happen is fun as hell. Oddly enough, my favorite guy to play with is Roman just because you can use him as the guy he should be when wrestling, i.e. hitting all these major moves and killing your opponent. So I can have a Roman vs. Cena match for example and it'll come out generally how I would want to see one of their matches go in real life. |

It's kind of like the GM mode in the SvR games, but honestly I think I last played GM in SvR 2008 and it feels nothing like the same thing. Basically you're starting out with shows, a roster, and feuds, and put on the shows. You can either simulate the shows or wrestle in each one, as it goes through the months and such. The reason I don't like it is although it's extremely customizable, I still don't feel a direct part to it, as if my decisions or actions really matter. I remember in GM mode, there would be a ratings system for the matches and feuds and you would have to hit a certain quota in order to remain in your position so you would have to put thought into each feud and match and have them make sense. It felt like my decisions more or less meant something rather than a more complicated way to do fantasy booking that I could just do in single mode. Edited by WWEFootos48, Jan 12 2017, 05:16 PM.

Yeah, I played a bit of Universe mode. Took over an hour just to get through one show. I think there some be an option for an in-depth simulation mode where you don't have to play the matches or promos, but still allows you full control. Don't know how it would work (EWR?), but at this point it's only worth playing the PPVs. |

I feel like that's more or less how the old GM mode was as I remember it. What I liked about it is that you might have this great idea in your mind but once put into action it would fall right to shit and you'd have to come up with different options to fix it. This more or less feels like you can have everything play out exactly how you want to, and to me it gets kind of boring. My one main question comes with the achievements, though. I'm sure I'll look online when I have time, but one achievement is to win the Royal Rumble then go on to win the championship at WrestleMania. What does that mean in the context of a mode where you can control whomever you want? Does that mean you can be a P1 at the RR, win with the superstar, then wrestle as him non-simmed all the way through? I understand how it works in career mode (though I don't believe that itself is an achievement) because you control only one person, but it doesn't make too much sense to me if you can basically choose to sim or wrestle as anyone you want on any/every show. |
