According to PWInsider, Birmingham-born former TNA X-Division champion Rockstar Spud has signed for WWE, pending the completion of the relevant visa paperwork. The 140lb Spud is slated to bolster the company's cruiserweight brand, 205 Live.

Spud - real name James Curtin - was already a veteran of the UK indie scene, having starred in FWA and IPW:UK before becoming the first winner of TNA's British Boot Camp reality series in 2012. As the winner, the Brit earned a contract with the Nashville outfit, making his in-ring debut in February 2013 as part of the X Division. After a brief hiatus, including a stint in former WWE developmental territory OVW, Spud returned to Impact, transitioning into the flamboyant Chief of Staff role.

On 30 October, it was reported that Spud had been out of contract with the company for several weeks; the news was all but confirmed when Dixie Carter posted a picture on social media at his farewell dinner.
I'm a big fan of Spud. I think he will do well in WWE, considering how strong his mic skills are.

James Michael Curtin, aka Rockstar Spud in Impact Wrestling, is slated to start with World Wrestling Entertainment next week at the post-Clash of Champions PPV TV tapings. As PWInsider.com first reported back in October, the plan is for Spud to be part of the 205 Live brand, which means he would be appearing on Monday Night Raw as well.

Spud, 34, was the first-ever winner of Impact's British reality competition series British Bootcamp. After being signed, he was used as a wrestler, personality and even ring announcer over the course of his run with TNA/Impact Wrestling from 2012 through 2017, including memorable work with Dixie Carter and EC3, among others.

Spud requested a release from his Impact contract in September and was granted the release. He signed with WWE the following month and had returned to Great Britain, waiting for his work visa paperwork to be handled.

Spud is an excellent, versatile performer who will be a great addition to the 205 Live brand as WWE prepares to begin touring it with live events in January 2018.
